What's the most satisfying RPG you've completed?

I just finished DQ2 (GBC) for the first time (have made many attempts at it throughout my life) and it feels great. Getting to walk around the world and see a bunch of extra scenes after defeating the final boss was great. Amazing game.

Love Dragon Quest 2.
For me it's a toss up between Dark Cloud & Phantasy Star (PS2).

Dark Cloud's a game I always meant to revisit as an adult. Maybe I'll check it out now that I understand the concept of roguelikes (I think it was one?).

Yeah the dungeons are randomized.
The Town building is quite fun.

The first three Trails games. What an amazing story.

I never got myself to play 3rd despite having looked forward to it, I just don't enjoy the gameplay enough to sit through so much of its combat.

I really like Trails' gameplay. The critical hit system and S-breaks are really cool and require you to save your ultimate attacks for ideal moments in battle rather than just spamming them as soon as they are ready. It's a lot more strategic than most RPGs.

DQ2's up there for me too, same port too. DQ3 was the most satisfying the first time, but that's also partially because I had played 1 and 2 first.

Knights of the Old Republic felt very satisfying to play as an adult after hearing about it as a kid but not playing it. I felt like I got exactly what was promised on the box.

probably xenogears for the story alone (last dungeon was atrocious though.

I don't know if it's satisfaction or nostalgia or the feeling of closure but finally beating ff9 after getting to the final dungeon as a kid and not completing it felt like a huge closure, almost a sad/retrospective feeling, like I can finally move on.

Same with ff7, I think I had done about 40-50% as a kid after starting it numerous and times and had never beaten. Beat it this year and it was very satisfying even though I new everything that happened in the story from years of spoilers.

So many fucking jrpgs (especially on the snes) that I started, got quite far through then gave up on as a kid.
