forgive me for my absence all week. I've found myself a copy of VX ACE that fell from a pirate ship, and have spent my time messing around with the scripting and events. I'm surprised at how much you can do with the engine despite the lack of tutorials.also, I'm done writing Dodo's pie story by Monday, Damn me to hell if I'm not.

I'd like a little feedback on that dodo pie story, If you please.Anyways, now that i no longer have anything binding me, I can now go on a schizo rant that i just made up but fully believe.
Jack Parsons, Aleister Crowley, and even HP Lovecraft.all of them either practice esotericism or have written about it in their works. Now notice how they all get Jewish sex-demon wives who have taken an interest in them out of the blue either for their interests or their works... Really makes you think, HMMmmm?
>>4013734>tfw no Mossad handler gf
and speaking of Jack Parsons, he was one of the progenitors that would lead to the founding of NASA, and was highly influential in rocket science. and was also buddies with Mr. Crowley and the founder of Scientology.once upon a time, he did a ritual called "Babalon working" with the aim of manifesting an individual incarnation of Babalon. With their final ritual took place in the Mojave Desert in late February 1946.Marina Abramović, that witch bitch who hangs out with the top Elite and does spirit cooking/eating babies, was born exactly 9 months after Babalon Working.9 months is roughly the length of human pregnancy, give or take a month.Coincidence??? Mayhaps! or MayMayhaps NOT!
>>4013736*black trial handler gfftfynow secret esoteric knowledge that might get me killed aside, what's your feedback on my dodo pie story?

>>4013774Based drawfren
>just killed myself with self mutilation
>>4013801good job
>>4013801Fun fact, you can Grit through that. Mostly relevant for SL1 runs if you're doing specific strategies and ignoring the more easy options.
>>4013734I think this was mostly random, besides lovecraft was more like a "self-made" esoterist, he was mostly atheistic, but has his own dreams guiding him.
>>4012783Real answer: She got brainwashed by Prickett's song. Unwilling on both parties.
>>4014051while your assessment about dreams is correct, i must insist that dreams are a little more than just random nonsense. at least from my research when i was practicing lucid dreaming. sorry if i go on a schizo rant again, so forgive me for the oncoming wall of gibberishAs an example, I've had a dream once that warned of an incident a day prior of it happening, as well as some other odd dreams that seem to have hinted of foreshadowing. but nothing close to that specific dream which is far too much of a "coincidence" to be merely brushed off as a coincidence. one that has completely robbed me of my ability to lucid dream, hence i stopped.if dreams can predict of future comings, then they can give insight or inspire people to go down certain paths or to bring upon certain ideas or inspirations for concepts that may already exist or are destined to exist through some means indescribable as of now. which may be evidence that we truly are the pawns of things beyond reason and rationalité. which also might be why most prophets have usually had some weird dream or dream-like experience relating to the "divine", which has rippled into forming globe spanning theocracies for centuries to come.and while I'd love to post of that specific dream to which I am referring too, its date, and the local news proving of said incident; that i must unfortunately withhold because of privacy reasons. so my source for that is Trust me bro.>tldr: dreams are a focal point to get influenced by forces beyond you. and might have some predictive properties.
>browser crashed just before i could make fun of Mabel's intellect and reasoningalright alright, don't strike me down for making such a joke.
>>4014067Remember, she is everywhere, everytime.
>>4014065Nono, feel free to get schizo, I'm a x user after all.I don't get what you said? You said that had a dream that predicted something but then say that it is just nonsense?Besides this I invite you to share how you did lucid dreaming, always fun to hear it, for me it was always a problem doing it right.Besides this I invite you to think a different way, people don't have ideas, but ideas have people, your mind is an antenna that "catches" ideas, this is why you might have a nice idea, don't actuate it and then later on find someone that actuated it.The idea desired to be born, you didn't want to make it real, so it found someone else. It's a completely different way of thinking from the current zeitgeist, so of course it might be strange.Connected to our loving Lovecraft, I believe that he was in contact with various things trought his dreams, but due to his super atheistic-scared mindset he would see things in a bad way.Basically imagine seeing Venus as the ancient saw it (many boobs etc) and he saw Shub niggurat etc for the other gods.
>>4014069i wish she'd help me with my gains instead of worsening my sanity and boiling me alive in this heat... uuuooooh nihilityyyyyyy!!!!>>4014091Oh nonono, to correct my possible mistake; I'm saying they aren't always nonsense and are sometimes intentional or prophetic! that dream i was talking about was that example of a dream predicting a future event the day after. To give a little more context, I wasn't able to sleep the following night and was awake for when the incident occurred. making that dream the last one i had per-incident. which makes it all the more legitimate in my eyes.as for lucid dreaming, I have a guide for my method right here https://beyondtherabbithole.neocities.org/LucidDreamingGuideand for lovecraft its a little more complicated, but my quick theory is the way the ancients perceived it was likely similar to how lovecraft describes his niggermen, or at the very least niggermen taking familiar forms (Like human/animal chimeras as a common trope) as to not make us go haywire. but because they had a limited scope or were shown things in a certain way, they simply described these forms from what they were accustomed to. or at least those are the official portrayals to these pagan proxies as to give the masses something familiar to worship and offer their children too. but it probably gets a little weirder. and that's just a brief summary of my "Proxy Idol" notion that i personally hold.
forgot to mention, but that's an interesting way of interpreting ideas, and i like the analogy. but i would say it goes both ways, or three ways if you count outer beings meddling with our feeble human minds.after all, i know for certain that conflicting truths can coexist.real shame /x/ is such an unusable cesspit of larpers women druggies and glowies.
>>4014096Ah I see I'm speaking with an advanced schizo, truly takes one to find one.I shall read that method and thy blog, then continue speaking properly.Regarding lovecraft's perceptions if you see some oriental representations of deva and such you will find some quite strange things, while seeing them drawn might not be much, having to see them face to face would be quite different. So yeah, the other guys are strange on a whole other level.>>4014097yeah after the death of a certain old general I found no further use of x.
>>4014097>>4014096I've given it a read, I saw that it took you quite a while to develop, why stop in the end?The dream you had was prophetic, right? Means that you were doing a good job at dreaming useful things, right?Besides I've just read that you are actually medically schizo? Some say that schizo is just misdiagnosis of some awareness of the other side, but I don't know myself. Anyway I've read your idol theory, it is interesting, in general know that there was an actual babylonian and egyptian practice of creating statues (idols) of gods and to venerate them, give them food (not kids, just bread) and offer them beer etc, this was for the purpose of having the god be friendly and helpful. This practice works so well that it was banned by the jews, greek christians and arabs (have no idol rule).
>>4014130I forgot to tell you, but my website's terribly outdated, especially the dream journal. and i have not worked on it for a while. i began logging my dreams seriously sometime last year and continued up to a few months ago, its there i could see the distinction of my lucid dreams going from 1 every ~10 days to not having one for months despite my usual routine post-incident.i have roughly 340 dreams logged, and about a dozen lucid dreams intermixed.as for the spoiler it should be pretty obvious that I'm schizo, given my antics.

Is there anyone who's personality is noticebly different from the role they play? obviously the alices are but i'm trying to remember if any of grimm's kids in the little girls nightmare said anything about the role they're playing or if largely their personalities fit who they where supposed to be playing
>>4014703She's not old! She's a very fair lady.
>>4014845It's really hard to tell because for a lot of them the roles imprint on them and eventually become their personalities as seen in Winterbell, but off the top of my head, Dodo does actually know everything about what's happening (secret scene at the end of her and Shisha's quest), Bill isn't too happy about having to be "an incestuous faggot in drag", and arguably Lorina completely lacks the penchant for executions she's supposed to have and probably isn't a loli any more.
>>4014845Difficult to say, since the whole point is that the roles are put too much in place to the point most are have their true face and mask mixing. On the top of my head, the Alices are obviously different from their true selves, the closest we have to someone who fit is Younger Sister who got Jubjub trashtalk/tsundere's tendencies, but Jubjub is also the one who let out her true personality the most, like being sad being stuck in there and having sense of motherhood toward Chick.Bill know what he is, it saddens him a lot, "What do you want me to call that? A triple handicap?" Lorina is much sadder and knowledeage in her true form on the way toward the true ending.Tweedledee et Tweedledum are interesting because they don't at all.The Hatter is... weird, because as usual what she says is nonsense, but here, it's a different kind of nonsense.>>4014895Dodo was right to call herself wise.
>>4014895>Dodo does actually know everything about what's happening (secret scene at the end of her and Shisha's questSorry what?
>>4014845>Is there anyone who's personality is noticebly different from the role they play?Pretty much everyone who plays a role other than your children. Some are more different than others. Prickett, Node, TCO, Jub, Bander, Jabber, Lorina. There's a few odd cases like Cheshire Cat, but her true role is really only the ending part of killing the Alices so it's still pretty different form how she normally acts. Hein as a conductor doesn't act too differently. Sho melted her role. And there's all the Kuti, Oyster shenanigans. The real personality that is noticeably different from the role that no one mentioned is (You). Grimm has changed through the cycles and eventually stops playing the role he is meant to.
>>4015039If you have sex with her after you've gone through all the interactions of her visiting Shisha etc; you get a bonus scene of Grimm falling asleep and her talking to him in which it's made pretty clear she knows you'll be separated, so either she's aware she'll have to leave for Winterbell or possibly might even know about the efforts to make Grimm leave. I'd need to rewatch it now to make sure, but it is a really sweet scene and a rare instance of her breaking her clueless ditz act.The children know a lot in general, really. There's the Tweedles taunting you about SEN, and Shisha's madnes death message is probably talking about how getting raped and put in the dungeon would have saved her from dying.Speaking of which, I have to double check their dialogues but I think it might be implied that the three Nightmares abandon those roles when put in the dungeon and you keep the actorless bodies there, given how different they suddenly act there and how they're still playing Alice outside (and how Node has every reason to not want them there, especially Jabby).
>>4015073>you get a bonus scene of Grimm falling asleep and her talking to him in which it's made pretty clear she knows you'll be separatedOh THAT scene. Gotcha.
>>4015065Train autist Hein was my favourite unexpected development. Speaking of Cheshire, it's neat that once GG is dead Node calls her by her real name, when I don't think anyone other than herself does so prior.
>>4014845I meant to attach picrel but>>4014895>>4015002>>4015065Are all very interesting thanks for responding guys
>>4015065>Sho melted her roleNta but I thought Sho was just discared as an actor?>Grimm has changed through the cycles and eventually stops playing the role he is meant to.Amazing what gaining back your old personality can do.
>>4015092>Nta but I thought Sho was just discared as an actor? She melted her role. Could be figuratively, could be literally. Could also be both, Great Ones are famously bad at acting as humans while also being barely able to contain themselves.>>4015081>Train autist HeinI'm glad as everything was falling apart, and Mabel and TCO were grabbing random shit from Elysium, that Hein somehow made a deal to be a train conductor in Wonderland. The absolute chad. I wonder if we'll get a cameo in DRH.
>>4015092> old personalityHow'd that happen anyways? Did node fudge the mindwipe on the 65th cycle?
>>4015106>Could be figuratively, could be literally. Could also be bothI always thought it was figuratively... but who the fuck though it was a good idea to bring a Shoggot????Answer, the same gal who though bringing multiple Great Ones or Outer Ones was one!>>4015110>How'd that happen anyways? Did node fudge the mindwipe on the 65th cycle?Good question. It could be Prickett making TCO to pipe down, it could be GG making the whole theatre piping down the schizo, it could be Jubjub too. It's a real mistery. Though for what it's worth, it seems like Grimm ISN'T supposed to keep memories, skills, spells and gear between NG+, if the start of the game and messages are of any indications.

Been thinking about this scene. If the original Alice Liddell is actually brunette like the irl Alice, then who the fuck was the blonde in Ending G?
>>4016906>If the original Alice Liddell is actually brunette like the irl AliceNo one know who is that girl you showed, or the girl in the picture.

>>4016906>then who the fuck was the blonde in Ending G?Still actually Alice Pleasance Hargreaves Liddell, but her soul looks like book Alice for the same reason Lewis's soul pops out of Grimm looking like the White Knight; the play is still going and the shape of things is still influenced by it.

>>4021224that would be horrifying in any of her niggerman forms. though, that makes for an interesting movie. from the perspective of someone with low SEN you're seeing a cosmic horror sucking people dry in the most grotesque ways imaginable.but from the perspective of our high SEN protagonist, he just sees maymay slurping people dry with a straw while giggling like an idiot.

is boosting speed as high as you can and using rapunzel's ring (for the bonus action) really the optimal strat in BS1 or is there an even better "meta" option?
>>4022904Speed is definitely broken in BS1 and one of the things that make the game feel unbalanced (although SL1 is possible which is neat) but there are a few other similarly unbalanced things. Off the top of my head the easiest way to "break" the game is stacking 2 or 3 Dusk Crown Rings while using the +10 Sorcerer's Staff to negate the cost increase and then spamming your strongest spell.
>>4022904I went with the good ol' maxed out Sorcerer's Staff + a bunch of magic boosting rings to spam spells
is there anything more hype in the series than starting a boss fight and this starts playinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_qZgl2_tQ-s

Starting Black Souls II (blind). Going to replay Ending D first.
>>4023762What were the devs smoking with this intro?
>>4023781I think I should just go for the starting zone's boss. Going off the beaten path got me chased by a guillotine and my little sister is sexually harassing me.
>>4023805You EXPLOOOOOOREd too much.
>>4023806Is that an in-joke? I chose the explorer, lol. Got an attack ring that made the early enemies trivial. Tested out Self-Mutilation with the sporeshroom and got 400 souls per fight. Not bad, considering the starting rabbit gives only 38.
>>4023806That fight is way too much for a starter boss. You get railroaded into that thing if you don't take the Master Key from Cheshire Cat?
And where's the Prayer Master? 6200 Souls and not a thing to do with them.
>>4023822gotta kill a boss before the level up person appears, like DeSalso headhunting beast isn't actually that hard, just use Break whenever it charges an attack and also use charcoal pine resin and firebombs if you got any (the messages outside his arena legit tell you this)
>>4023826Firebomb was worthless in that fight.
Got locked out of the next zone's fireplace. Need a key.Birdbrain got me.
>>4021561I cleaned it up, now it's time to paint it
>>4023832thankfully the library bear sells keys for 1k a pop right from the start so you don't get the bs1 situation of scrounging around or grinding for them because you haven't got enough progress to buy em from greedy ass traitor rabbit
>>4023839K. Level 40 now. Partisan feels better than the Bunker sword, even though the latter pretty much makes losing impossible.
>>4023854There's another mechanic that's the actual core of BS2's battle gameplay but isn't too relevant until the late game, but one you should be aware of from the get go is that healing items don't consume your action, unlike BS1. The whole game is functionally designed around you being able to be at full HP every turn.
>>4023928I don't get it
>>4023762You HAVE played bs1 right? Nothing will make sense if you haven't

LD has a real location.
>>4024233Not on this cycle but just keep sen in the back of your mind.
Don't spoil stuff for the new guy, figuring BS2 out on your own over the cycles is one of the best parts of it.
Not sure, but I think I just won the game.
>>4024384EZ
>Why are my covenants dead?Never gets old.
What is this choice...
>the Steam achievement for killing Demon Victoria in BS1 only unlocks if it's the fight with her in Ending C, not the one if you sleep with her twice in the hotelweird decision
I'm on my second cycle. Gonna do low SEN, but what's the goal now? It seems Alice just doesn't exist and the universe won't let me free Mary.
>>4024508Nevermind. Just a few seconds of walking left and it's someone we know.
>>4024508Continue exploring and getting endings until you feel you've seen everything. If you ever feel lost you can always check Hints.txt in the game folder, I actually recommend reading up to the ailments section
I didn't realize how much of a morale booster the Mental Ward's cheesy music was...
>>4024140
>>4024508Mostly figuring stuff out (there is a lot of stuff to figure out), exploring the map fully, sorting out quests, filling out the RoR, and getting endings C and all variations of A, D, and E in the process. B too at some point but it's a little difficult to run into on your own. Then once you're deep enough you'll probably figure out what's next on your own. I'd suggest avoiding the CD / AR for now since they're balanced for post base game endgame and a bit of a chore, so doing them now you might just run into a wall. It's also possible you run into the other endings before all the ones mentioned above, in which case I'd still suggest you also do the earlier ones at some point down the line for more story context. Cycles are really fast to get through once you're familiar with the game, easily half an hour or less. One thing that the game does not tell you about in any way as far as I remember is that there is a secret, post first cycle exclusive boss that's triggered by fighting the Headhunting Beast with the Vorpal Sword.
Would Mabel have gone as lost in her role as lil sister Alice if things had kept going? Or would she have found a way to leave the play within a cycle or two if Grimm hadn't gotten his shit together?
>>4024625"Mabel" in the Alice books is (like Mary Ann) a character only mentioned but never present. Mabel deliberately picked that as her role and stays where Wonderland intersects with her garden most of the time precisely to receive as little influence as possible from the play. She was still always planning to ditch that body down the line once it became too affected, which is why she willingly triggers the trap in Winterbell knowing it'll kill her. She acknowledges she could suffer the same fate as TCO and Shub and be completely consumed by her role but she's generally too smart to let it happen to her.
I didn't realize just how slow, "Speak Harshly to Your Little Boy" was. When the Dutchess sang it, I assumed each stanza was meant to be sung in four seconds.
I need a little clarification, Drawing something for this sunday perhaps. given i haven't seen anyone draw something similar so i decided to do it myself.exactly how many outer gods are present in the games specifically? there's Shub Nya and Yog. am i correct?
>>4024659>she's generally too smartis what she tells herself every night
>>4024749Depending on your definition (and it gets very messy because Derleth and his consequences) Nodens, the Snake God, the actual deities the Nightmare trio correspond to, the God of Sleep and the Lake, and Azathoth as seen on the Moon could all count. Maybe more too. Debatably Mary as well.
>>4024816ah, no easy definition? darn. I want to focus on the biggest fishes in the pond just behind the great idiot. or say, the "Top dogs" who are directly or partially responsible for the game's central plot.to keep it simple, I'm just including Yog Nya and Shub. if that's an accurate enough representation of the outer gods.
>>4024815Beautiful
*nibble* *nibble* *nibble* *nibble*
>>4024826Those are definitely still the top dogs and the highest active forces seen in the Mythos. Refer to this thing Howard put in a letter once as a joke and people took too seriously, which is technically canon to BS too.
>>4024826
cool dodo fact: TCO doesn't stand for "The Crawling One", that's a common misconception. it actually stands for "The Cute One", because Alice is a Cute!
>>4024846>& our worldwhich one do the world elites worship in their private islands?
>>4024863Moloch
>>4024881i wonder who Moloch could be a proxy for?
>>4024836here's a BS version someone made a while back
>>4024903>maymay calling her father an idiot while proclaiming herself wise
>>4024846>>4024826Outer Gods/Great Old Ones distinction doesn't really exist in the Black Souls universe. We have Outer Ones (外なる者 purposely changed from Outer God) and Great Ones, which are basically the same thing under all dialogue contexts; also Great Old Ones that's different, in our case which are retired Great Ones. The one time 'Outer God' is mentioned in dialogue by Mabel, I'm fairly certain is a mistranslation since the Japanese text says something different.I suppose I understand why, but the autistic lorefag in me is not a big fan of using Mythos this way, and especially in this case when we have game lore that takes precedence.
>>4024934perhaps its a translation problem or barrier associated with moon runes? i heard it can get a little weird.
>>4024940>barrier associated with moon runesDoubtful. 神 is God, so if Toro wanted Outer God he would've written 外なる神. It's very clear he intentionally changed it to Outer One. These distinctions between the BS universe and Mythos are important because if it was one to one it'd be shit writing.
>>4024950aha! Outer One! tell that one anon who greentexted the word last week i pronounced it right.
>>4024952>tell that one anon who greentexted the word last weekI have no clue what you are talking about. But I haven't been making it to Schizo Sundays so maybe I'm missing out...?
>>4024963no need to worry, i simply mentioned that the outer ones were made for human men
>>4024903>azathoth>aka the demiurge but lame

>>4024966>>4024952Do NOT stick your dick in horrors beyond your comprehension you will NOT have a good time you will be driven INSANE
>>4024967if we go by the Gnostic pantheon, azathoth would be more aligned with the Monad.speaking of, i noticed the Gnostic pantheon and lovecraft's mythos share a few similarities. mostly with how there's a set of outer gods residing outside the boundaries of physical reality.

Any news on the next releases, bros?
>>4024903If Mabel is so smart why can't she fucking win at chess???
>>4024903Beside the clear ESLisms I dislike how half assed this is with information, making no mention of things like Bandersnatch being the library's guard dog since the Tea Party or Jabberwock being the one who got Mary interested in fairy tales; or of Yog and Shub being divorced and TCO being Mary's step-dad.
I am happy.

That said, you've got>The earth has no longer any gods that are gods, and only the Other Ones from outer space hold sway on unremembered Kadath. From Kadath and>All that the Outer Ones wish of man is peace and non-molestation and an increasing intellectual rapport. And many more similar mentions from Whisperer; and many many references to outer space all over Howard's works, making it no stretch at all to shorten "the Other Gods from outer space" to Outer Gods while functionally maintaining the same significance. The distinction between Cthulhu and his old gods and someone like Nyarlathotep is definitely there in Lovecraft's original stuff and it's the later works that muddy it by making squidface a much bigger shot than he's meant to be.
>>4026332Just answer me this: That covenant in the Mental Ward...
>>4026336It depends and isn't something you can properly address before the last area of the game, unfortunately. Incidentally this is one of the reason getting every Kuti interaction is important (even though I'm pretty sure the most important one isn't listed under her in the RoR).
>>4026376I still have her covenant in this cycle. Are there any that don't show up in her dialogue menu?
>>4026385There's nothing about her that's not unlocked via her menus*, but there is at least one interaction you haven't done yet which leads to more (arguably true of most characters, but truer for some more than others).*there is actually one secret interaction she has that's niche as fuck and somewhat unlikely to ever come up in a normal run, but it's not really plot significant, it's more of a "I can't believe Toro added this" and it requires fairly atypical pathing during a cycle.

Anyway off the top of my head there are two somewhat hidden and fairly important scenes unlocked by >rape and then losing the ensuing fight, against Jabberwock and Victoria respectively, and one if you completely fill out the dungeon, if you ever feel like it. Funnily enough I find BS2 encourages you to try out the fucked up shit in an attempt to understand what's happening a lot more than BS1, despite the plot there. Can't remember if any other girls have relevant on rape lore beside one late game character who makes it very clear she wants you to.Oh, right, another thing: something the way the game is coded is a bit questionable and some interactions only happen if you select >Back to exit a menu rather than pressing the back key. I think it's mostly just that one Mary interaction this is affected by.And sometimes the game design is mean and you have stuff like Lorina's shop being unlocked early in her covenant but the scene it triggers not being accessible until you max it out.>>4026707The Node dungeon scene is the one I pushed anon towards, the P10 one is the niche one because I find it really hard to believe you'd ever get to the point where you beeline for Kuti in a cycle and put yourself through the DSK again while not having yet learned what triggers the madness.

>>4026800Still seems lame to give an lore explanation as to why all these girls keep falling for the dude that only speaks in "alice" "rape" and "kill". Grimm is largely a blankslate character, and other than having a tenacity for never giving up because this is a video game and players want to see it through, he doesn't have much going for him. Which is fine but the plot hinges on multiple characters being head over heels or possessive over him, tco and leaf being toxic malshapen forms of love, sure i get that and that works fine, but node falling in love and dedicating her life to grimm because... hes good at sex?? Atleast with mabel the player spends a good amount of time with her in the second dlc and third so we can get attatched. But Mabel legitamately falling in romantic love for grimm right at the end? I felt more of a bond of comradrie with mabel over anything else. I still think the game is great and its themeing largely works well, grimm himself is just not a very vocal protagonist and theres a lot about him thats left in the air for the player to inhabit and fill out themselves.

>>4027393Sex is far from the main reason Node fell in love with him and I think it's unfair to reduce her to this meme. Node as a character is particularly interesting because she is a walking internal conflict. Her reason, feelings and desires are at odds with each other. Sometimes she sways one way, sometimes the other. Insofar as the story is about love, Node is situated between TCO/Mary Sue's interpretation (possessive, violent, carnal - typical Great One outlook) and Prickett's (empathizing, selfless, forgiving - decisively breaking with her nature as the Great One). If carnal desires (sex) were the sole motive, then she would have simply aligned with TCO and that's it. Which is exactly how it was at the start - she had all the sex with Grimm and was fine with TCO's plan. No babbling about 'love'. The change only came much later after witnessing his suffering and pointless struggles, NOT because the sex was just that good and the only thing missing was some honeymoon vacation. Plus if sex were indeed the main reason, she would've never bonded with Prickett either because she wouldn't understand her feelings. The reason for her falling in love comes from her sympathy with Grimm, having witnessed his plight for dozens of loops. It's very plausible it could happen even if Mary Sue didn't write Grimm such that everyone falls for him.Mabel on the other hand needs an extensive explanation for falling in love with him. She is a marginal character who was practically absent from the Wonderland up until now and doesn't have a backstory like Node's. It wouldn't make sense narrative wise to have a special DLC-sized screentime for Node (although personally I wouldn't mind it) if it's only to walk us through the process of falling in love when we already know she's been around him pretty much forever and can infer everything else.Apologies for a lengthy reply. One thought led to another and here I am.
>>4027638I disagree that node/nodens would align with TCO or Leaf given how nodens canonically hates the other gods guts and is actively trying to exterminate them all. The fact node is even here at all is weird given how nodens and nyrlathotep hate each other above and beyond any other beef nodens has, but then again Node might be here specifically to make sure Alice-tep spends as little time with grimm as physically possible.
>>4027665Canonically Node's intervention is the only reason Mary wasn't reduced to a fine paste by TCO. GG is situated in her garden and she was already frenemies with Yog before Wonderland. There's a chance Maymay told her to go do stuff lest the whole universe end by Idiot awakening. She's also the one who stops Prickett from killing herself. There's always a possibility she was involved in the Tea Party and already had an interest in Grimm. After all Jabberwock, Bandersnatch, and Mabel (via the Red Queen) were all there too, and the "conspiracy" that both BS1 and BS2 ascribe the Red Queen's death to echoes the "white of conspiracy" that Node is associated with in the message describing her and Prickett removing Mary's powers. That's before you get into esoteric schizo theories about the Secret Garden and rabbit clan.

>>4027856She was an uninvited guest, but the rape dungeon is a pretty harsh treatment. Shatters her childish view of what wonderland is supposed to be-with grimm supposed to be like a fairytale prince in her mind. >>4028155lay down the carrots node
>>4027665That hypothesis was to counter the argument that Node only cared about sex which, if true, would put her in the same basket as TCO & Leaf, hence my use of the word 'align'. The fact that she eventually sided against TCO proves my point and the unfolding conflict is in line with the canon logic. Although I don't see why I shouldn't consider any other development if it doesn't comply with the mythos canon's rules. These are two separate universes regardless of similarities, and toro's characters can stand on their own, so there can be discrepancies. Node readily cooperated with TCO to the extent that she was one of the creators of the Wonderland's loop system. I'm not familiar with Lovecraft's mythos, but I doubt Nodens would go so far. Node initially went there because TCO's project would help her build an army for the garden war. I dont recall anything suggesting Node's motivation for her involvement was to sabotage TCO's evil schemes or something, it's only what we the players can assume by pulling on the context of a separate literary work. Though there could be more details, maybe DRH will shed some light. >Node might be here specifically to make sure Alice-tep spends as little time with grimm as physically possible.TCO does not want to unite with Grimm in the first place, he's not supposed to ever truly reach her. And Node herself isn't sure what she wants to get out of this up until the point of no return at the very end. Before Grimm set off for Winterbell, she even insisted that he ignore GG's call and keep searching for Alice instead. She is the only character who accepts any outcome: be it Grimm's escape, his transformation or further imprisonment in the Wonderland.>>4027721Can you elaborate on the Red Queen and the whole conspiracy stuff? >>4028155Node is so passionate and horny during sex, but so calm and gentle afterward. I really like it.
alice is the same but twice more in all aspects as long as i don't resist.
>>4028174>Can you elaborate onIt's easily the least well understood part of the story imo, partly because the events of the Tea Party are still a mystery (and because there may be things that happened before it). What we have is>BS1 in one dialogue outside the Library mentions the Red Queen as one of the enemies Grimm faced during the Tea Party (like Jabberwock) and mentions she died due to conspiracy>BS2 mentions that "the Red Queen inherited the blood of the Old King and was fated to die due to conspiracy" and that Grimm was the one who killed her>the Old King is sealed at the bottom of the Chaos Dungeon>there's a note that mentions "the Red of Rage and the White of Conspiracy tore the black apart" or similar, which is mirrored by a book in Mabel's library more explicitly describing how Prickett and Node tore Mary's power from her and created GGThen you get to the Old King and things get messy as hell, possibly due to translation issues so we really need someone competent to look over all the relevant dialogue at some point. The Old King is implied to straight up be the Red Queen, like they're one and the same, and Mabel mentions they were empowered by her (by her blood? I don't remember the exact dialogue) and that she went through the trouble of setting up the rematch with Grimm. Also the Red Queen / Old King is r63 Uther Pendragon, which has yet unexplored implications for who and what Grimm and his role are because we're pulling in Arthurian myth too (and may potentially be setting up the child he had with Shub (totally Charlotte) as the series's Mordred). It's basically guaranteed we'll eventually learn more about what actually happened in the past, because Toro has tossed other narrative hooks that way. Namely, in her staircase dialogues Mabel talks very clearly about BS1 stuff like Grimm fucking Shub, meaning Grimm has regained his memories, but then she also has one dialogue stating there's something Grimm has already seen but has forgotten
>>4028263Good summary, thanks. I missed like half of it during my gameplay because it's so scattered. That message about Grimm killing her felt especially strange, considering it shows at 0 SEN and gets immediately removed (most likely by TCO, but I wonder if it could also be Prickett. One of them clearly doesn't want Grimm to have any recollections about that event)
>>4027638 i appreciate the thought and time you put into this post anon, i think the rub with node for me is that as a player, she's a complete stranger. Node approaches grim with a familiarity thats not warrented on the basis of being a forgotten lover. And that just rubs me the wrong way. Your internal dilema about helping me or not is cool and all, but lady i do not know you, and your acting as if you have some claim over "me" is irritating.
>>4027665>nodens canonically hates the other gods guts and is actively trying to exterminate them allCanon? For the love of Mary Sue, Lovecraft's universe is not the Black Souls 2 universe, stop simplifying it as such. Lovecraft's Nodens is not our Node, Lovecraft's Nyarlathotep is not TCO. We call them as such, but funnily enough neither are ever referred to by those names in game. Yes, the characters were inspired by and hold many similarities, but that does not mean Node's aspirations MUST be the same as her counterpart. We see her actions throughout the game and that's where you should draw your conclusion first and foremost, before attempting to use Lovecraft's work because of all the differences alongside the similarities. An example of this is Azathoth. Azathoth's awakening in the Black Souls universe is fueled by the great war of gardens leading to countless dying souls going up to the cosmos and causing him to awaken. Completely different yet leads to the same result of the cosmos/universe disappearing in both.
>>4028453>neither are ever referred to by those names in gameStarting only with BS2 Toro switched to gods referring to each other by titles and not names (Shub is openly namedropped in 1) but still expects you to associate those titles to at least the general idea of the Lovecraft characters, or Mabel revealing herself as the One-in-All wouldn't be a reveal at all. That said, Node specifically very much nearly is called Nodens. It gets lost in translation but her name isn't pronounced like the word "node" is, the Japanese makes it explicit it's pronounced like Nodens without the -ns. It also means who she is in the Mythos is meant to be a lot more explicit.
>>4028485Shub is only namedropped in Ia Ia. In 2 we have the same thing with Hastur. Assumedly that means all the Great Ones have the same actual name as their Lovecraftian counterparts.Anyway, my point is there is no reason to deal in absolutes. And you should always refer to game canon before referring to Lovecraftian canon. >Mabel revealing herself as the One-in-All wouldn't be a reveal at all.Yes, it enhances your experience, however Mabel ends up explaining her powers. You don't need knowledge of Yog to have knowledge of what Mabel can do.
for what it's worth, Toro wasn't exactly subtle about Baphomet/Shubby's identity in BS1 either considering her title is literally the name of the DLC
>>4028543I shouldn't stick my penis in there... however.
>>4028337That's a fair point. I did initially suspect the main issue with it was how, from the player's perspective, you get to see the relationship with Mabel develop in its entirety, from beginning to end, with enough time that it feels fulfilling. With Node that's not the case, so it's understandable that the player would likely sympathize/bond with Mabel more. To each their own.>>4028453Very well said, I was going to expand on that point more along the same lines but couldn't manage the character limit in my previous post. To add just a bit, Toro is clearly only using lovecraftian canon as an inspiration/template and not as some set of rules he mustn't break, infusing his vision and modifying characters the way he sees fit *for his own original work*. Thus it's wrong to conflate these very much separate universes and demand one to be consistent with another.
>>4028621Toro is actually very consistent with the Mythos honestly, and knowing them gets you to notice stuff like how night-gaunts carry you to Queensland because in the Mythos they serve Node and not only does she want you to end up there, but Queensland is where Winterbell used to be.

Her main passion is creating fairy tales, so she probably gave Grimm these powers thinking it'd just make the stories more fun or some other dumb reason, unaware of implications in the grand scheme of things. Likely never considered the possibilty of other spaceniggers breaking everything and taking her toys, and even invited shub not thinking of possible consequences. There was never any plan (especially long-term) in that empty head of hers.
