I really don't like RPGs that much, but a friend of mine wants me to get more into them. The only RPG I've really liked much is Dragon Warrior 1, wasn't a big fan of Persona 5 or the little bit of Final Fantasy 7 I've played. And I absolutely hated Fire Emblem. I'm willing to try another RPG, any type besides MMOs, as long as it's multiplayer since I like playing games with my friends. What would you guys recommend?
>>4013296I don't think there are many that aren't tabletop. I know Dragon Quest 9 has multiplayer as a main part of it, but that's a DS game. I guess you could play something like Dragon Quest 3 or Wizardry, where you make your party at the start and do something where you and three/four friends each control a character.

>>4013601The Tales of games seem really cool, and my friend is a fan of them. He's played Abyss, Berseria, and Arise. Looking at the box arts Eternia, Innocence, and Graces seem the most interesting but I'm down with playing any other Tales of game too. So if there are any better choices for playing a Tales of game with a friend I'll play that

>>4013296If you can get past the writing of the companions, and are on a similar wavelength concerning speed, then bg3 is a pretty good coop game.

>>4013611Playing a game like BG3 coop sounds miserable. It’s so long (even after they cut half of act 3) and it would really suffer for not having one person making the decisions, and two or more people fucking around and doing random shit (which would make the game take even longer). I can see an argument for “but having everyone fucking around and doing random shit is the funny may may part of the game!” but I’ve been in tabletop games like that and it just sucks when that one edgy retard goes “lol I’m gonna murder someone in the tavern because I got caught stealing” or whatever, wastes everyone else’s time and isn’t fun for anyone else. I just think cRPGs are inherently a single player genre. ARPGs are more suited for coop.
>>4013634I would suggest your intro to be Symphonia -> Abyss (or vice versa).
