Anyone played either of these? Thinking of picking one or both up before the sale ends
Trooncore, play Lunisitice instead (which is also trooncore but fun)
>>4014706TRANS
>>4014708>>4014711Sure but are they fun?
Pirated them both, they're barely ok.Just pirate them bro
If you like combat, stay away from Dread Delusion. It kinda becomes a walking simulator with no gameplay depth. The graphics and music are pretty kino but I found myself getting so bored of just wandering around. The story wasn't engaging enough to keep me going.Lunacid I just picked up because it reminds me of Ultima Underworld and I've always been curious about the King's Field series. There's another smaller free Lunacid game on steam called "Lunacid: Tears of the Moon" and they used the King’s Field making tool from 2000. If you're curious, you could get that one for free & check it out
>>4014706DD is pretty fun, has a cool setting and sorta Morrowind-style lack of handholding. my 8ish hour save file got erased when it was updated though, so I dropped it. might be back eventually
>>4014706DD has a really weird setting and intentional early 3D graphics going on, but it's not a TES-style game you might be lead to think it is.
>>4014706Never buy leftist games

>>4014791combat was pretty basic, not terrible but not super engaging. I thought the story was neat from what I saw, but ultimately the game's draw is the aesthetic of the world and the faux ps1 graphics. and for weirdos like me, a total lack of quest markers, forcing you to explore the world and pay attention to NPCs to get where you need to go.
>>4014768>Never buy gamesftfy
>>4014706I tried Lunacid, and ultimately found it disappointing. It imitates King's Field and Shadow Tower closely enough that it can feel uninspired, but at the same time somehow fails to capture their appeal. The environments just aren't all that interesting or rewarding to explore for the most part. The combat is also worse, which was a surprise, because I thought that was the one thing it would surely handle better than KF/ST, but it's pretty boring and the ability to enhance your movement speed ends up being game-breaking.
>>4014706Both are unfinished games that are being falsely sold and advertised as finished.
>>4014706I enjoyed Dread Delusion, but I freely admit that was purely due to the aesthetic and mood hitting right. The gameplay itself is a half-step away from "what gameplay?" and the story is... there? The setting is at least somewhat interesting to learn about, but the actual story is barely there for most of the game and when it is there, it feels rushed as hell. In several places I felt like it skipped over what would've been an hour or two of game at a time.Lunacid is exactly what it seems to be, no surprises there... except it's balanced like absolute shit, and you basically have to actively avoid breaking the game and making it a mindless experience. As is standard for the genre magic-maxing is a win button past a certain point, but now you add the existence of stats that govern speed and mobility to the point you can turn into fucking Sonic and render every enemy completely impotent. Except if you don't raise them you feel slow as shit in a game that's not quite as ponderous overall as King's Field was, so there's an uncomfortable feeling to it; leaving you carefully balancing "actually moving at a normal pace" and "still having to think before acting".Also the maps are all over the place in terms of quality, for whatever reason. Some are fun to explore and interesting overall, in others I felt the "get me out of this hellhole" kick in a minute after entering, and not in the fun way either.
>>4014706I loved Lunacid a lot. Rather you like it or not is going to come down to rather you enjoy the vibes though since it's basically hard carried by that. Gameplay wise think a mix between a more modern Souls game and the older King's Field style (kinda Demon's but if it was more King's then Elden Ring I guess? I'm not sure I'm describing it right). 10/10 OST at the very least and I'm eagerly awaiting the DLC. I've bounced off Dread a few times but I more blame myself and not having the attention span to get past the starting hump than any fault of the game. I'll sit down and give it a proper try one of these days.
I liked my experience with Dread Delusion on the steam deck since the gameplay is very simple. I think it's something you only get because the atmosphere and setting interest you. The story is okay but I have already forgotten most of it 6 months later. Hardly any real role playing exists.
>>4020215>Hardly any real role playing exists.I'd argue there's all of ONE choice you have that has any impact on the story/dialogue aside from the last minute ending choice, and even then very minor, which is between being a complete pacifist and literally anything else on the spectrum.
You guys play literal tranny shit? I know it sounds crazy but why not play actual retro games, instead of all these "retro inspired"? (It's actually kind of depressing how much more coverage these get than a game like tainted grail just because those devs upset journalists by only letting you choose male or female, and despite the trailer looking a million times cooler)
>>4020230I don't know chief, could it be because I've already played retro games and would sometimes like something new instead of replaying the same things over and over? I know there's the ongoing joke that nobody here plays the games they claim they like, but calm down.As for Tainted Grail, since you bring it up, it disagrees with my GPU and refuses to even launch, and I'm not getting a new one for one game, fuck that. Also lmao at implying fucking Dread Delusion got more coverage than Tainted Grail, you're delusional. Double lmao at implying I should care who made the fucking game. A product stands on its merits or not at all.
What do we have here? Another wretched soul caught in the Inquisition's web, no doubt. Tell me, has your High Confessor sent you off to die?
>>4014708that's a 3d platformer
>>4020230Tainted Grail was fairly mid
>>4014708qrd about dread delusion?
>>4014706I enjoyed lunacid for a bit but the lack of a map and no pause (seriously, no pausing in a entirely single player game is bullshit) killed it for me a bit. I like to bounce between games and getting back into after a long break with no map was tedious. Felt like I was getting TOO lost. Very atmospheric though.
>>4020230>more coverage than tainted graillmao what?>you can't play a game inspired by other games you're only ever allowed to play the inspiration and nothing elseDouble what?Anyway Tainted Grail doesn't disclose that it has slop/generated shit in it. It's not even about the fact it's slop, it's just incredibly anti-consumer to avoid telling people buying the game about it.
>>4020237Oh yeah, you played them all... Nevermind that nonstop there's fan translations for RPGs never in English and plenty of better games releasing daily. I guess those trannies are just so much more deserving of people's time. (Actually this just dropped 2 days ago. https://romhack.ing/database/content/entry/n5uU6f8sQxGIdKyxprlhQw/brightis-english-translation )
>>4014706verho is better
>>4022942Oh now it's "all of them" suddenly? Cool goapost-shifting bud, real impressive.Nobody cares what you think is worth playing over something else. Especially when you have to resort to 'b-b-but obscure bullshit translations!' to keep infinitely expanding the category.
You know you can just call the game shit without resorting to buzzwords, right?
>>4014706>LunacidNo.>Dread DelusionPretty world but very little gameplay and zero roleplay depth. This is basically a walking sim with some light combat (and the devs addressed the issue of it being too easy by adding a difficulty level with triple damage and stunlock randomly not working). Also troons.
I'll be real, I don't remember a single troon in Dread Delusion, and I'm fairly sure the developer is just a dude. Are people just making shit up based on nothing?
>>4023039It's because it's not actually shit and they know it. They're just mad about the pronoun shitpost the creator did (they don't do anything and are just there during character creation)
>>4023073The whole steampunk not-Russia region quest is about a troon that couldn't cope. With a gay that rewrote his personality to cope harder on a side.
>>4022417>Anyway Tainted Grail doesn't disclose that it has slop/generated shit in it. It's not even about the fact it's slop, it's just incredibly anti-consumer to avoid telling people buying the game about it.nobody goves a fuck you retarded faggot. I'm sick of the word slop and people pretending to care about AI generated assets, get the fuck over it
>>4023038Ohhhh so you've played "a retro game" or a couple retro games and you just don't want to keep replaying those! Ah yes, yes, of course why play another retro game when you can play a retro inspired game made by some mentally ill guy who thinks he's a woman? See for me I never played that "obscure bullshit" yet either, but being made by Quintet it just automatically piques my interest over the tranny slop games.
>>4014716I've actually played both and yes, they are.Lunacid's magic system is really busted, I recommend doing a magic build.
>>4023219I care. I will never buy a game with AI gen shit in it.
>>4023219>Nooooo, why aren't you bootlicking the dev for anti consumer practices they used to make more money!>Don't say my slop is slop!!Go back to your trough, piggy. I'm sorry calling a spade a spade triggers you.
i only played lunacid but i really liked it. some call it nostalgiaslop and i get that but its really fun. combat and magic system is very basic so it can get boring but there are a lot of cool secrets and endings. also the vibes are great
>>4014706Both are very good
>>4014706>Dread DelusionAs someone who finished King's Field 4 I found DD very uninteresting and got bored with it pretty quicklyNever played Lunacid after seeing the creator say he only added pronouns "to own the chuds"
>>4014706They're both insipid RPGs imo, but at least Lunacid isn't bloated with half-assed mechanics.
Dread Delusion, like many indie games on Steam, is shit. This game, plus a few others that were recommended, completely killed my enthusiasm for indies getting 5/6th gen game titles out. Games are too expensive, and devs are too retarded. Boring combat, terrible exposition dumps, awful writing, horrendously boring walking sim disguised as "it's just like hecking Morrowind but smaller".They basically need a publisher + Kickstarter + ex-veterans to produce a mid, "has potential" game in early access now.
>>4014706Dread Delusion>game is trying to sell you vision of mysterious dangerous world>90% of enemies can be oneshoted with heavy sword attack
Lunacid is fantastic for what it is - one of the best indie OSTs I've heard in a very long time. It starts out very slow and plodding but as a great power curve.
>>4014706No sorry
>>4024818Very true. The game does a pretty good job of nailing the "cursed PS1 game with massive draw distance" aesthetic that it's going for, but the "gameplay" is so bare-bones that it's not really worth investing time in unless you just really want to hold W for hours. It's pretty much just walking around, talking to people, and occasionally engaging in the worst combat of all time. Barely an RPG and barely a game. Would have honestly been better as a comic book or something non-interactive.
