I think they're neat
>>
Anyone else playing Pixygarden? It's pretty weird and interesting. I like the catgirls.

God I played this like 20+ years ago, glad to see other people are playing it. If you like it and know Japanese, Mercurius Pretty is worth checking out too.
>>
>>4033752
I'll try it, looks interesting

My one and only experience I played years ago didn't leave the best impression. Felt like a CYOA with the plot removed and a shitton of skill checks that often had no real time for preparation (aside from when you replay the game)
But I do play a ton of worker placement board games so the idea does interest me

AFAIK the PM games just got worse after PM2. PM3 onwards really leans on the "sim" parts. very restricted kinda gameplay. like tamagotchi but with a little grill. less stuff to do then PM1 and 2.
nice art work though.
>>

I thought pm5 was neat for what it was but your not wrong.

Since I don't think my dilemma warrants a whole thread all of its own and this one seems to fit the closest from what's currently in the catalog, I'll ask here. So, I've been thinking about picking up Ar Tonerico but I'm more than a little conflicted whether or not I'm going to actually enjoy it and, by extension, whether or not to even bother potentially wasting my time on it. On one hand, I dig the aesthetic and (general idea of) the setting but, big, ALL CAPS BUT just from reading the basic description, I can already tell that not only do I not care about the whole quote unquote 'immersing myself in the internal worlds of the designated heroines, visual novel style' thing, if anything, I find it grating already, on a conceptual level. Not to mention the whole singsonging thing bordering on or maybe explicitly striving towards idolshit. Having that not only be tied to progression but, seemingly, being the core of both gameplay and plot just unreasonably irritates me. Then again, I like what I see on the screenshots, the certain, uh, technologicality of the world becons to me. I just like the mechanical design, at least from an aesthetic sense but I don't care about everything in the world revolving around vaginas, artificial or not. So, it would be appreciated if any Anon reading this word salad of a post that played these games would kindly relay his general impression of them to help me reach an informed decision.

I can't really speak to most of your complaints because they never bothered me. I will say the little visual novel bits are usually entertaining, but they're also a big part of the pull for why I played originally. You're definitely not hitting Idolshit in the games, and if you're a mega autist the language they sing in is actually pretty fleshed out. That being said even the nicest things you can say about 1 and 3 are "They're OK". The series peaked both gameplay and story/character wise with 2. Luca is a slut.
>>
>>4047958
The reason to play those is the music. The plot is weak and the majority of the girls aren't very good, and the gameplay gets old fairly quick. But the worldbuilding behind the music and the language that makes up the world and lore is what is interesting, which also ties a bit into the technology that you find appealing. Try listening to a couple tracks, it's not idolshit, and if it doesn't interest you move on.

You should try Pawapuro, there's way too many of them compared to Princess Maker games. It'll take some nihongo understanding and/or use a translator via your phone or online.
>>
>>4059210
forgot to say that Pawapuro is short for Jikkyou Powerful Pro Yakyuu and is a baseball RPG game with a ton of variations over the past few decades. It's been available to several different consoles and portable systems too.
There's a few similarities to Princess Maker, like the VN story-telling and choosing which stats to increase or you can have your guy do some work for money too (in certain Pawapuro iterations) jsut like in Princess Maker games.

maybe I should give this a try

Not endorsing anything though since I just play on emulators. I'm just honestly baffled by how unpopular the game is, outside of Japan.
The Success Mode(s) are the ones with a story and the ones I played let you transfer the finished stories' characters to the main roster so you can continue as a pro, if you choose to do so.

I've really been enjoying this one.
>>
>>4064140
Played a bit, it's a good time. Waiting for 1.0 before diving in hard though.
>>
>>4064687
I think the 1.0 just adds a post-game section, so you're safe to do a playthrough and unlock the NG+ difficulties. I don't know how long or expansive the "Second scenario" will be, but its strongly a sequel and I think all the content for the "Main path" is done
Though still, up to you of course.
>>
>>4064140
I immensely enjoyed drapline and have blitzed through all the extra difficulties. I hope they continue to expand the game after 1.0 if it does well.
>>
>>4065036
Yeah. It's too easy to find a winning solution if you just get the right things, so overall that made the game pretty easy. But I think the difficulty system was done well - I'd just like to see a more adaptive one that lets you customize things, force you to play in a way you might not have. Like I've never gone wild or had her ignore my commands, I always just end up Rule and a fifth skill slot.
>>
>>4059210
T.I.L. that there are also Visual Novel-like games of Toaru Kagaku no Railgun anime series with quicktime gameplay mechanics only for its action part and that game has a fan translation already.
Meanwhile, not a single Pawapuro got an English fan translation. S.M.H....
>>
>>4065055
Wild can be fun but its hard to build for because if you go too hard on it you get an early game over, the skills for it i use are mainly buffs and the skills that deal increased damage when used from ignore commands. Ideally you want the skill cooldowns to rotate so her ai is always using power charge or a wild crit attack because its the only option off cooldown. You just have to pray she listens when you tell her to block breath attacks and have enough passive health regen or armor generation
>>
>>4069398
Fair. That does sound tough. I'm on run like 7 and on difficulty 5 now I think so at this point wild just seems too hard to pull off. I could keep going but I kinda feel I have an "I Win" strategy in the pocket and every run kinda feels the same now. I've like never even tried using magic. I also just hate actually doing anything that causes her to gain wild - you're either eating quest NPC's, gimping your quest rewards or getting massive bills. Plus events constantly and unendingly just boost your rule.
>>
>>4069410
You can ignore bills, and be sent fake invoices which i only learned from the achievment for paying a fake invoice. Her eating fish or the ground isn't that bad, she can eat neighboring villages twice with no consequence, though if you do it a third time morgy says enough is enough and turns on you. The island vacation is a good opportunity to let her go wild as it gives her more stats to eat all the enviroment, and letting her eat the water shrine causes the octo girl fight which has some banging music. I've alternated from magic and physical, magic has more synergy with rule and has some neat gimmicks like wracking damage with the DoT and generating shield with snowstorm
>>
>>4069421
I ignored the bills and a literal angel came to me and eating the angel was an extremely bad idea.
I did get to that octo girl, but on difficulty 3 she kicked my ass lmao. But thanks, I'll give it a few more tries, I do wanna feel some variety.
>>
>>4069424
Octo girl is a big DPS check. My biggest advice is to try to have an aoe attack or one of those skills that scale with phys/mag but does mag/phys damage,so you have an attack to use on the turns the tentacles use phys/magic parry, and aoe's on a tentacle thats guarding octo girl will take extra damage from an aoe compared to a single target attack. Either works as long as you can dish out big damage quickly
>>
>>4069428
I think my build was a tank-regen with ramping attacks based off my shield, so yeah it didn't work out. The DPS race makes sense though. If I had to want something in the game, it'd be nice if the "?" explorations had more to them. I've only ever gotten the money rock you can dig up, the treasure chest and randomly changing my breath. They just don't seem worth clicking compared to building friendship sadly.
>>
>>4069433
Yeah, building friendship/working is great because it usually gives money and a chance for coo to learn new skills. The ? Exploration is pretty limited so far, i think its just the chest, money ore and sometimes something coo asks if she can eat, breath changing too but if you raise friendship with the bar lady you can get an event that gives the opportunity to change breath automatically
>>
>>4069444
Hopefully it's expanded upon then...

are there any good boy raising sims where i dont raise shinji?
>>
>>4069907
Chinese Parents was pretty fun.
>>
>>4069907
there's is a chink series just straight up called Prince Maker but the blog for it's TL's are old so it's most likely dead
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1055760/Prince_Maker3/
https://princemakerproject.wordpress.com/

>>4069968
Chinese Parent's is still getting updates and another game called School Days strike the similar vein (the EN is behind a beta branch so look into it), and lastly there are various wuxia games w/ raising sim elements but more for training yourself
>>
>>4069907
whats wrong with raising shinji
>>
File: Stats translation.png (212 KB, 413x379)
212 KB PNG
sex appeal is one of shinjis stats you can raise lol
>>
Okay so i played the shinji raising game, and half way through the classes and shit just stop giving stats. I was on the alternate path that deviates from the show with a beach episode and sports festival episode, but i must not have raised shinji good enough because it merged back into the original eva plot with the only difference at the end being asuka being replaced with mana, the girl from a previous spin off game that cucks asuka, there she was a rival organizations pilot, here she's just the music class girl
>>
>>4070477
Imagine not making your Shinji the most fuckable
>>
>>4070700
Having sex appeal higher than morals fucks shinji up sadlly and reduces stat gains from classes to basically nothing, and you'll constantly get the 3 same events of him looking at mags or misato sexually harrassing him and get the chance to scold him to raise moral and lower sex appeal. Basically its similar to princess maker's charm/appeal and how having it higher morals can cause olive to go off the rails and take bribes to be someones mistress
>>
>>4069907
Wizard's Harmony and other games by that dev have both boys and girls in them but you're training a group in those, not raising a single child
>>
>>4033728
They're ok
