One of the few vidya I played where I felt like a bonafide villain.

Let's just cut to the chase. There's currently a witchhunt out for influencers and "social" media platforms like RMN that reject people who use AI tools but use AI tools themselves. Umbral Soul was featured on RMN's front page for years, along with a number of other titles. Because of a dumb algorithm. The same kind of algorithms that Youtubers exploit when they create "dunking" videos. They dunk on people because the algorithm gives them views. There's not an actual viewership for that kind of content, because if there was it would be violating their own community guidelines. Instead, they pretend they're presenting a genuine common interest topic. But if you turn off the algorithm their views drop to single digits. The category was never legitimate. They're not really sharing anything without receptivity. It's like trying to fire people that never applied or wanted anything to do with them in the first place. RMW always warned that RMN was a toxic place. Obviously nobody is migrating there now that RMW closed.>Support the "real" supporters
>>4034411Checked and gotcha.
>>4034429Awesome! Let me know what we are tackling next.Would you like to continue with a new topic?
>>4034074>side events appearing depending on who is in your party and interactions between party members>also has unlockable flashbacks for each major character or summon story that tells their story>dialogue in battle often changes depending on which monsters Pandora summons>doesn't try to pretend you're the good guys doing bad for good, you actually are playing a character who has turned to evilThis game had a weird amount of soul. Hopefully they're still working on the "remake" of this game that they're allowed to sell and it gets a bit more popular.
>>4034339Yes.>>4034433Is there vidya that makes you mechanically regret being evil? Less like a slideshow guilt trip and more like a different ending card (as in actual gameplay friction).>Party members ghost you inside a dungeon>Shops that you go into price gouge you>Bosses scale harder because you murdered all sidequest giversStuff like that basically. Umbral Soul nails roleplaying villainy for but what vidya out there actually punishes your playstyle for it? There has to be teeth to it in terms of gameplay mechanics.>>4034482>Hopefully they're still working on the "remake" of this game that they're allowed to sell and it gets a bit more popular. Here's hoping.
>>4034433Also checked again.
>>4034488>Again this time for meWhew.
>>4034482>you actually are playing a character who has turned to evilThis is what makes it worthwhile imo. Rather than feeling like you're roleplaying someone trying to be villainous you're roleplaying someone who has indeed turned to evil ways.
>>4034491Evil is subjective. Antagonists are characters that stand in the protagonists' way. In theory, you can play an antagonist if they're actively disrupting someone's goals. In which case, that's...every NTR RPG H-Game every. You steal another man's wife, his family, his life. Because he's got everything, he's perfect, a real paragon of virtue. It's unfair how fair the world is to protagonists that deserve happiness. So you play a parasite. A scrub. You can be a terrible friend and avoid cosmic judgement just by living in proximity to this guy's aura of fortune.
>>4034510You are confusing antagonist and villains. A villain protagonist can have a hero antagonist.
>>4034510>Evil is subjectiveStopped reading here, shlomo
>>4034411Thanks GPT
I bet they used AI generated thumbnails as clickbait and say they were using it "ironically"
>>4034510>Evil is subjective.Sure maybe if you want to be loser philosophical debater or one the dumb people who only argues about logical endpoints, but in the real world murdering an innocent girl for no reason is just evil.
>>4035136No, it can be called many things. Including: an accident. For the purpose of entertainment, the consequences of the player's actions are meant to be a surprise. You didn't choose to sacrifice a girl. Your choices were: >Go Left (turn to page: 104)>Go Right (turn to page: 200)>Piss your pants (Turn to page 28)Choosing to be evil is like choosing to be "gay" in a Dragon Age game. You say "Hi". And now you're locked in on the sodomy route. And that innocent girl? She kills herself, because you've crushed her romantic dreams of being courted by you. Don't you feel horrible? No? You always take that route, do you? By thinking in absolutes - every choice connected to this outcome must be evil. Save the world? Evil. Cure the plague? Evil. Conditions for unlocking the "True" Ending? Evil.
