>Turn-based RPG>Defense is the most useful stat in the gameDoes such a game even exist?
>>4034316Obscure as fuck game, but in Mainframe Defenders there is quite a bit of value to be had in stacking defense and status resist equipment on your robot. Albeit you still want a good offense to compliment it. Being a "Tank" in the MMO sense is retarded game design if that's like the only thing you can do and should in fact be punished in some way. MAKE your opponent attack you by having either fuckhuge damage, great support, good positioning or crowd control abilities.
>>4034320Thanks anon, I'll check it out.
>>4034316Battle Brothers, MDef is King.
Underrail tanks are pretty fun. Kill/stun before getting hit is of course king as it is in just about any game, but tanks can shrug off or completely negate most attacks and focusing down the actual threats is quite easy then.
>>4034336What's a good tank build look like in Underrail? I thought Alpha Strike was king.
>>4034337you sperg in foundry doing armor crafting for hours and hours until you can make totally impenetrable metal armor
>>4034316First Etrian Odyssey, kinda? Not specifically defense, but stacking defensive buffs and damage mitigation is pretty much obligatory.
>>4034316Tor, fell seal, fft, all have a weird damage formula where you reduce damage to 1 or something miniscule after a certain threshold.
>>4035264fft doesn't have damage reduction at all. Only evasion. In which case blade grasp with high brave makes you effectively immune to almost all physical attacks. MP switch is also really useful for defense.
>>4035264I take that back, FFT does have some damage reduction mechanisms but it's not standard defense. There's an ability that reduces damage by 50% (one for magic and one for physical). And for spell damage specifically (only spells, not all magic damage) damage is reduced as target's faith is reduced.
>>4035311Ye, broken. Fell seal has mp shield, too. 1 mp blocks 500 hp, ridiculous.>>4035312Ye, all in all I dislike the damage formula in fft, ffta2 is better. We aren't getting the double feature remastered, eh? Se is stupid.
>>4035311>>4035312Dawg, any hidden tactics gems? Pathbreakers is still not out and menace isn't fantasy tactics, any games available on pc or Snoy? Demon school looks gay unfortunately
>>4034316Not really because action economy is always king.
>>4035772Not if your damage output is 1
>>4034316When I was a kid I was obsessed with defensive builds. If it was an option in any game, I would always build my characters around defense/wall/stall strategies. (I diversified when I got older.)I can't really think of any games where I did this off the top of my head, but I assure you that they're out there. I remember there was some RPG where you play as a samurai and I remember maxing out my defense and speed so that I was basically untouchable (But took forever to kill anything.)
