This game should not have been allowed to bear the name Baldur's gate.Don't get me wrong : it's still a solid game but story-wise Larian made very little efforts to connect it to the Baalpawn saga.Even worse, it blatantly allows itself the luxury of ridiculizing two of the most beloved characters of the franchise. Can we finally admit the truth?
>>4038803>Can we finally admit the truth?I’ve been saying this since the game came out.I’ve also observed that the majority of BG3 fanboys either didn’t play, or played but disliked, the original games.
>>4038803I enjoyed BG3, and I think it's a worthy follow-up to BG2, but I agree that it doesn't have much of anything to do with the previous games. The connections it did have felt tacked-on and were handled poorly.
>>4038803Only way BG3 could have been worse is if it had been RTwP
>>4038824>Only way BG3 could have been worse is if it had been RTwPRtwp is just TB in disguise.
>>4038803I agree. It's not even a CRPG. It's available on Playstation and Xbox. Completely going against the "C" of the genre name
>>4038803I mean that´s probably intentional so that people could just jump in without having to play 25 year old games beforehand. The decision certainly payed out for them as the game became insanely popular even with people that usually don´t play CRPGs. Not even Dragon Age Origins can claim that kind of accomplishment. You can totally tell BG3 was made to be an approachable game, it has production values no CRPG has ever had, ever, mechanics are as simplified as possible (5E) and is disconnected enough from the previous games so it can be enjoyed independently. In fact, if you don´t play the dark urge the whole baalspawn thing is rendered almost insignificant to the plot. They are just very scary mad people doing scary stuff.
>>4038828It's significantly worse. I do appreciate the combat toggles and sliders in 1/2, but I would never use them because it's baldurs friggin gate and that sucks.>inb4 "bg3 faggot"no
>>4038803The only thing it has in common with Bhaalspawn Saga is it happening in vicinity of Baldur's Gate. It also lacks cohesion (especially in Act 1 that is glazed for whatever reason, but I blame it on Larian sucking at designing believeable overworlds, D:OS2 also has this problem with the clusterfuck that was Reaper's Coast) and solid ideas for plot or characters, it felt like being designed by a bunch of 12-years old kids that just crammed into campaign whatever they thought was cool. Also, I am eternally angry about long rests being broken on release despite bug being known in EA for a year or so to the point that I couldn't start Act 3 due to CTDs and just dropped it altogether.
Of course it was always just a shameless cash grab. The only thing it has in common with BG are some characters.
The truth is you're just supposed to play The Dark Urge, and if you didn't, you played the game wrong (and it particularly shows in act 3 if you compare it to a custom origin playthrough). The game also makes no attempt to tell you this
>>4038920>it felt like being designed by a bunch of 12-years old kids that just crammed into campaign whatever they thought was coolThis. So much this.
oh boys look, he said "Larian". that means he knows what he's talking about.
>>4038803I've agreed with this take since the early access era. It's very obvious that Larian just wanted to do their own thing and figured slapping "Baldur's Gate" on the cover would help it sell. They were completely correct. If it had been Divinity: Origin Sin 3, the game would not have gotten the media attention it did. Now that they have gotten their "game of the year" recognition, they can return to Divinity and rely on their studio name to sell the game. I imagine they will use the same mocap and voice acting style, which is really what drew all the accolades for BG3.
>>4038803BG3 has the most reactivity to character creation since Arcanum and for that it will always be one of my favorite games. It's baffling that a game with so much reactivity couldn't just let you answer a quiz at character creation to answer things like "who did the Bhaalspawn romance?" Dragon Age: Inquisition even made a whole character creator to allow Hawke to show up. But apparently WOTC is incredibly autistic about Abdel Adrian which probably explains the character assassinations of Viconia and Sarevok.>>4039599Even if you don't like the game, "shameless cash grap" is a wild take for a game that took this much time and effort to develop and is as large and long as it is. That new Warlock game is going to be an actual cash grab.

>>4042032>It's the best RPG ever madeZoom zoom spotted. It’s not even the best Larian game, much less best RPG of all time>it's just sad that vrpg can't admit itThis board is overrun with retards who have only played two RPGs in their life and glaze BG3 as the greatest anything ever, and despite the games widespread popularity and critical acclaim, have a delusional view that they’re the small minority of tasteful connoisseurs, while the unwashed plebeian masses just don’t appreciate the beauty of a transsexual dating simulator.
I'm impressed how Larian sold one of the most disgustingly woke games ever made to chuds and made them defend it.
>>4042042They're too deep into their millennial doomer arcs to stop now
>>4038803The story is a complete messIt feels complete at the end of act 2. The cult and tadpoles mysteries are revealed, it just needs a final boss and it's done. Then they remembered the name of the game and had to tack on act 3 which is just the plot from the first game.
>>4041978>Do you feel the same about Baldur's Gate Dark AllianceIt basically defined the genre of console hack 'n' slash and had ground- breaking graphics and water physics for the time. But it didn't put a "3" at the end of it's title so it's basically just a spin-off.
>>4043268I’ve never played the DA games and would buy a bundle of them for 20 bucks. The publisher actually raised the base price of the games from 30 each to 40 each (down to 30 on sale). For 20 year old console spinoff ports. Absolutely fucking delusional.
>>4043355Gotta cash in on that hoping some retard buys the wrong game money
>>4038855So, do you think that the game would've been significantly less successful if it didn't have the Baldur's Gate name? As you mention, it's a 25 year old game and it's so disconnected you can enjoy it independently. They could've just called it Dungeons & Dragons: Rise of the Absolute or Forgotten Realms: Dawn of the Absolute, or something else. The Dark Alliance games at least have the excuse of coming out pre-social media when it probably actually moved the needle for sales. I know I rented one of them because it had the BG name and would've ignored it otherwise.
>>4045017NTA but I definitely do.BG3 sold a ton at the initial early access, at least on par with other CRPGs. That was primarily driven by BG1 and 2 fans who were interested, rather than Divinity/Larian fans. That allowed them to reinvest the funds into the game, develop more content, and revise a lot of the visuals. It payed off in them having what is definitively the best-looking CRPG ever. Say what you will about gameplay, story, characters, etc., but the visuals and mo-cap are top tier, which is the main thing that drew in the casual players that bumped the game into GOTY territory.I followed the game in early access, on this very board, and there was little discussion about it elsewhere on the internet outside the more ardent D&D circles. When the gameplay trailers dropped with the bear sex and other stuff, discussion fucking exploded all over the place. The visuals really captured everyone's attention, and a lot of video game streamers and reviewers started talking about it to further amp things up since everyone had to give their "take" on things. That brought in a lot of people saying shit like>the upcoming sequel to the CRITICALLY ACCLAIMED Baldur's Gate seriesso they could have more shit to talk about and speculate on how connected it would be to the previous two games. So there were multiple stages at which the name drew people in and amplified the attention the game was getting. I doubt it would have reached that critical mass it needed at various points if it were just something like "D&D: Rise of the Absolute" (which would have been a good title).

Finally decided to pick this game up.Can origin characters romance other origin characters?Want to play as warlock and it looks like Wyll already is one.
>>4038803I barely touched bg1 and never touched 2My opinion is still one of the most accurate here because I've been playing RPGs since Temple of Ashphii and Questron, MUDs and Rogue. PnP since D&D red box, Car Wars, Shadowrun, Paranoia RIFTs etc etc.BG3 is the current pinnacle of RPG evolution. The now heavyweight champ that all other titles should be measured by. You may not like the woke crap, I get it.You may think it's overhyped, I get that too.You may be a shut in that pretends to be above sex, which lifestyle feeds into your false sense of assumed 'superiority' but that just increased the hype for it, which is actually deserved in its case.It may have little to do with the previous games, but that genuinely doesn't matter. It's better than all other RPG offerings in interactivity by genuine leaps and bounds. The depth, quality, and amount of the voice acting and mocap engine is leagues better. The items, verticality, stealing, summoning, conversation, and spell systems are all artfully described with depth. NPCs react fairly realistically and even some react with a laundry list of things you might have done they care about. There's no 'radiant ai' or other pie in the sky overhype bullshit, just a lot of effort and forethought put into quests to code potentiality that most players might even just skip and never see.Game resultingly has a strange quality that even though you've played it multiple times you're still likely to see something new every time you restart even if that is just different conversation barks between shadowheart and astarion. Mods round out it's few weak points like some overbalanced/undercooked feats, races, classes, and items if you want to play the perfect RPG even.Their 5e adaptation is a strong RPG foundation, it's not too complex for newbs, and still has tactical depth for veterans to build in.I will die on this hill, and you cannot exorcise me from these boards via millennial troon nor chud whining.
>>4062041Take note, kids. This is what 10/10 bait looks like. Subtle, doesn't lay it on too thick or too soon. A harmonious blend, like carbon fibers lovingly encapsulated in a luxurious matrix of epoxy resin, without excessive porosity or voids.Well done, anon.
>>4062041>verticalityWhile I find the game cool and great and IMHO the praise is warranted (though of course, it's all relative, no need to overblow things like people tend to, black and white thinking no betweens etc), the "verticality" meme word sounds so forced, people that repeat the word feel like marketing drones posting according to a marketing bulletpoints documetns to me.
>>4061995They can. The only thing to keep in mind for character creation that matters is that Dark Urge is basically a custom character with more shit to do>>4062041I pretty much agree, but I've also played a shit ton of BG1 and 2. I just don't bother fighting for it here.
>>4062181Ok anon, I'll use "Radically Depthicalicious" going forward so as not to offend your sensibilities. Or perhaps "The Most Z-Axis Powers of All Time".
It's still dumb, being able to climb ladders or jump up/down is not a special thing that needs a name. That CRPGs often sin against this and used maps with very limited interactivity (even good ones like PoE or Torment) doesn't change that.
>>4062582Z-Axis Powers is just short hand to talk about the good vertical level design, like actual rafters and balconies to sneak around in and break chandeliers on their heads, high ground bonuses etc.POE is boring for exactly the reason of being dumb enough not to include it with modern tech among the other reasons is it a boring RPG for those of lesser tastes. Avowed has great Z-Axis Powers on the other hand.
>>4038803>This game should not have been allowed to bear the name Baldur's gate.TrueEvery single part that ties back to the first two games makes the game worse, and the aspects of those in bg2+bg1 worse.Fuck Bhaal.Fuck Wotc for bringing him back in 4e or whenever because they were desperate for marketability. They could've just made a dnd game in faerun, but specifically used a numerical baldur's gate title for marketing with no respect to the original games.
>>4062598Avowed was weird. The writing was terrible, I didn't really like how character progression worked for equipment, and having forced companions in a game like that sucked, but the fighting (particularly the magic) and exploration was great. If they scrapped most the sidequests and story then tweaked a few things it could have been a genuinely good open world game. A rare case where I think a sequel could end up really good under the right conditions. Not that I would have much faith it would actually end up that way.

>>4063219>But it would be nice to have all those good things in a game that is aimed at people who enjoy fantasy instead of the alphabet people.I wrote that post, and I like the art style but I don't disagree at all with the sentiment. Veilguard is much, much worse about forcing a political view on you and it is mechanically and artistically a much worse game too.The over abundance of tieflings and the pro immigration slant is an alphabet/libshit centered bullshit aesthetic for example, some people don't even understand that, same as the woke continuation of trying to remove alignments from literal demons from hell, since they already have been sugarcoating orcs for years through WOW leading the charge on that and the joke they are now in WOTC. They have to hollow out le threatening fantasy setting in other ways under the banner of "nEver oFfEnd (except white straight people ofc). These are choices made for political reasons, not fantasy worldbuilding & everything is poorer for it.At the same time, they got some depictions right, like Duergar and Drow and goblins for there to still be some fun.A civilization of tieflings trapped in literal hell wouldn't be acting like your neighbors next door in probably 5 years minimum so this part of the writing is indeed horseshit. They would act like the demon blood they already carry. At the same time character writing like Lae'zel being lied to by her race is top notch, same with Shadowheart, the character interactions are compelling.I'd bring it all back to things like 80s Drow and fantasy sensibilities instead without hesitation. Imagine Dragonlance in that engine without wokeshit. That'd be perfection. D&D can barely acknowledge Ravenloft anymore because "others" as minorly different as elves are hunted with torches and pitchforks so they had to wrap their ears to go out in the proper setting but enter woke corporate HR lady marketing and simps I guess, same as Warhammer is doing with their settings.
>>4038803>This game should not have been allowed to bear the name Baldur's gate.Denigration requires the use of IPs, brands and names.

>>4038807>played but disliked, the original gamesMe, maybe. I don't like RTWP. But I loved everything else about the games. But BG3 was always clearly just Div OS3 with a D&D coat of paint. People bitch about it having 5e rules while it doesn't even emulate 5e well compared to something like Solasta. BG3 has almost zero verticality and fucks up what it does have, includes tons of +1/+2 magic items that defy the 5e philosophy of bounded accuracy to bring it more in line with 3.5e, doesn't have actions like Dodge which fundamentally alters the flow of 5e and viability of tanking strategies, and changes things like how Haste works so the game ends up being all about hyper-offense.I like BG3, but it doesn't deserve to be a "Baldur's Gate" game.
>>4038807>or played but disliked, the original games.Probably because they're utter slop. Only IWD2 is even slightly good of the IE games.
>>4063361>Quoth BG3: "Goblins are people, too!"Yeah, but you don't have to do that scene to protect Sazza, you can just ignore it, let her get shot, or nuke her yourself. Is paladin playthrough any good in there? Can't imagine having a bunch of millennial writers as your GM deciding what decisions is oathbreaking and whatnot being a very enjoyable experience.
I like how devs thought about Kagha being as such great evil, they don't even bother to give you any options to protect her from getting killed by tiefling-mom besides "if you kill your enemies - they win" single persuasion line. I legit wanted to support her, but decide to kill off goblins first as a compromise with tieflings, and then Halsin escapes on it's own and ruins everything.
>>4064400>Is paladin playthrough any good in there? Can't imagine having a bunch of millennial writers as your GM deciding what decisions is oathbreaking and whatnot being a very enjoyable experience. Not really. One, 5th edition fucking massacred paladins, moving away from the concept of objective evil and objective good into (((subversive))) moral relativism. And paladins no longer get divine powers from their God, just, like, an idea, man. They're reduced to just le burst damage class, which is absolutely criminal. Two, as you noted, the subject of falling requires the judgement of a human DM, and will almost never be satisfactorily coded in a video game without being somewhat (or very) arbitrary and gamey, which of course is the case here. I particularly remember an example, playing the game at launch, where my paladin fell while kicking down the doors of Moonrise Towers and slaughtering the evil cultists inside. After the big ol' brawl on the first floor, I proceeded up the stairs to the second floor, and the game responded as if I was trying to stealthily sneak in and infiltrate the cultists. There are patrolling guards, and when they see you, they initiate dialogue, saying, "Halt, trespasser! Surrender and get in the jail!" and when you say "no fuck off, I'm here to kill all of you", the game responds as if you were prowling around a shopkeeper's house in a city and were resisting arrest from the town guard. Then you get the smug narrator going "Aaaaaaaaaand it seems you're under arrest for... resisting arrest! You've been a very naughty boy." and a devotion paladin will have his oath broken and fall. One weird trick paladins hate: Put up a sign on your evil lair saying "NO LAWFUL STUPID DO-GOODERS ALLOWED! SUPER ILLEGAL FOR YOU TO BE HERE!"
>>4038803>Don't get me wrong : it's still a solid gameIt isn't, and I'm tired of this blatant dishonesty when the vast majority of the game is an incoherent unfinished clusterfuck with a map designed like an ant-farm that expects you to meticulously comb every single inch and crumb layered on top of each other just for some boots of bedazzlement +1. Vast majority of the budget was spent on hollywood-like spectacles of the prologue in the Hells and the intro cinematic, while the actual story is a confusing mess wrapped up in Act 2, after which the writers remembered they have to include Baldur's Gate in a Baldur's Gate game and so hastily cobbled together the catastrophe that is Act 3. The companions are deviantart-tier of OC donut steal, to the point where it's baffling this game was produced by adults instead of a gaggle of terminally online 13 year olds. The only salvageable aspects of the game are its immersive combat that creatively incorporates environmental mechanics, where you can literally build your own cover out of crates or throw objects and enemies at each other if you're desperate, and the fact you can play it with friends; outside of these aspects, the game has no redeeming qualities. Even the quest design is a complete dogshit overly linear illusion of choice let down where there are very few branching paths and a set singular reward where player choice isn't factored in.
It should've been called Baldur's Gate 2, since it is the second game set around that city. It is the second game that has the wrong name.
>>4064454>that expects you to meticulously comb every single inch and crumb layered on top of each other just for some boots of bedazzlement +1.It doesn't, this is a player-autism issue where you think you need to comb everything over. You can just choose to not do every sidequest and look in every bush.
>>4064464Yes you can choose to actively miss rewards with no other way to obtain them than to meticulously comb through the map in a very unintuitive, painstaking fashion. This is definitely a hallmark of good game design and not a horrendous, terrible design decision that actively discourages the player from exploring in what is otherwise a fairly open world game. Content is bad? Well, just ignore it. Great fucking game!
>>4064471Consider this an official diagnosis of autism if you didn't already have one. You'd suffer from this in bg1 too, more so even, moving your cursor over every part of the screen.
>>4064477Anon if your only response to criticism of objectively bad world design in an open world game is to label detractors as autistic then you're conceding to the fact the game is shit.
>>4064464>>4064477Vast majority of the game involves exploration. Might as well just tell players slogging through an FPS with poor gunplay to ignore the shooting. Better to play anything else at that point if your only recommendation is to do your best to ignore 60% of the game.
>>4064481The argument is shit. You act like you have to do 100% of the quests and get 100% of the items. This is an autistic problem that you have, not a problem with the game. There are other problems with the game, but that isn't one of them.A problem that would also be a problem for games like Baldur's Gate 1.I am not using autism as a random insult, it is a diagnosis of your mental impairment.
>>4064477>You'd suffer from this in bg1 too, more so even, moving your cursor over every part of the screen. There’s only a handful of examples of this in BG1, few enough that I can remember them specifically (ring of wizardry in FAI, diamond in the first map after candlekeep with a location hint from the noble, the ring of fire resistance, ankheg plate in Nashkel also with a location hint iirc, and there’s another minor one with some scrolls or wands or something in Nashkel mine aboveground I think) and also in either TotSC or BG2 they added the highlight loot key, issue really only applies to vanilla BG1By contrast BG3 is chock full of little hidden bullshit to stumble over on every map for the entire game, exhaustingly and immersion-breakingly so. Whole game feels artificial and inorganic, like a theme park crafted solely for your exploration. BG1’s more realistic sparse outdoors would be a relief.
>>4064487You aren't understanding the criticism then, or are just stupid, because a vast majority of the items in the game require the player to engage with the awful anthill map in this manner in order to ever access them. Your response to this fact is to ignore the map and pretend it doesn't exist. I'm not arguing for completionism, I'm stating the objective fact that the map is designed horrendously and actively discourages the player from exploring. If the game was more linear then this wouldn't be as big of a problem, but the game is explicitly open world and is built with the intention that the player is meant to explore and do quests as they find them. Your response to this is to pretend it's good because you're choosing not to acknowledge the existence of the shitty map and project your own autism on others.

It's the guards of the bad guys keeping their order.Same in goblin camp - kill or steal there, they will act as their own guards, but it doesn't mean you shouldn't do that because you'll get in jail in Baldur's Gate proper.
>>4064498>Your response to this fact is to ignore the map and pretend it doesn't exist.>I'm not arguing for completionism Your claim was that game expects you to comb every single inch of the map, which is rooted in completionism. The game would only expect you to do that, if it expected you to be a completionist, the game doesn't.My response was not, that you should ignore the map, which is what you now pretend I said.My response was that the game does not expect you to comb every single inch of the map. There are quests that the game expects with varying level of degrees for you to follow through, with areas related to them, outside of those quests are areas with even less expectations.Main quest is what we'd refer to as something with high expectation.Side quest with less expectation.Looking behind a stone in an area with no quest relevance would be of even less expectation.Every player is not meant to have the same experience, and find the same stuff, some things are even mutually exclusive within the same playthrough. You feeling like that game expects you to meticulously comb every single inch and crumb layered on top of each other just for some boots of bedazzlement +1, is just a feeling, not a fact of expectations from the game.More specifically it is a feeling you have because you are autistic.Factually, Larian would expect a completionist playthrough to take between 150-200 hours, and a standard half of that, so objectively speaking, the game does not expect a standard playthrough of bg3 to be spent meticulously combing every single inch of it.
>>4064544>from my point of view, the lawful good are evil!
>every white male human face option is make your character look like chopped 40 year old>decide to approach this problem creatively and making a man with one of the foid faces, using a 3rd troony body type. >Looks much better, but now you forced to deal with having bitch tits and ass on your character modelWhy Larian just not made all face options available without limiting them to specific body types again
>>4064446>moving away from the concept of objective evil and objective good into (((subversive))) moral relativism. And paladins no longer get divine powers from their God, just, like, an idea, man.All positives.
>>4064698>All positives.Only if you’re pozzed.
>>4064717I've always thought alignment is a gay mechanic and any move away from that is good in my eyes.
>>4038803Yeah, well, it happened and there's no taking it back. The unfortunate thing is that casual gamers will think its the best in the series... because they're stupid.
Today I will remind them
>>4041388In an interview with someone from Larian Studios they mentioned how they want to work on a new IP but have been tied down to BG and Divinity for a while. Hopefully now that they've gained mainstream success they'll get to work on that new IP without cheaply tacking on the name BG4 or divinity original sin 3.
>>4064759was there really a change (isn't tha just angle?)
>>4064759Interestingly, there is an old pre-early access build 4.1.80.8083 out (even has a debug executable) where you can play origins.Sadly, if I tried Shart, it always crashes to desktop during the Nautiloid crash. tried the debug build and dismissing errors (huge numbers of them) but that doesn't help. Other origins work.It also has lots of cutscene glitches, often funny ones.
I've been saying that ever since i first heard of this game.IT DOESN'T EVEN ALLOW YOU TO IMPORT A SAVE FILE FROM BG2!!!!!
>>4064455Truth
>>4064455>Shadows of Amn>set in Amn>Throne of Bhaal>set on Bhaal’s chaise loungerSounds like they nailed it, akshually
>>4038803>Needed more companions, where is druid bitch, goblin thief and bard chick?>Needed more complete companion routes>Needed to either not lock you out as hard out of routes, or at least be more clear about it. The backtracking and figuring out ruined the experienceOther than that it's a great game, both solo and with friends.
>>4065132>Needed more companionsIt needed to have zero “companions” and been designed from the ground up with full party creation in mind, and not as a kludgy workaround.
>>4038803>>4038807The only reason this game exists is to exploit the franchise name. Plenty of people are interested in the series because of this, even if they hadn't played the originals. And plenty of people who played the OG have no particular taste or appreciation for artistic integrity, and aren't bothered at all by BG3's flaws. They're just consuming next product like the good goys they always were.
>>4064736D&D Alignment does suck but postmodern nihilism is worse.I liked how Everquest did it. There was no "alignment" just a complex array of factions, and your starting race+class+religion determined your starting relationship with each faction.
>>4065166nah companions is the best part, they needed to lean harder into it
>>4038803As a mid 30s childhood cRPG unc, I' olaying throigh BG3 for the first time now since it was on sale.My biggest issue is that Larian didn't alter its style at all for the IP of which theirs is heavily derivative, it's just a Divinity game in writing, humor and style. My second issue is that they abandoned it before reallynrefining the product let alone making any expansions and there are still plenty of bugs.
>>4064446>Karl-ACKWhat the fuck, anon, why the hell do you ACKed the only likeable female companion in the game?
>>4065391She's a niggress
>>4065396Tieflings obviously represent some kind of niggerish minority in BG 3, but they don't look like them at least, so i wouldn't focus on this that much. Lae'zel is much bigger nigger personality-wise, and also looks like a fucking female Grinch.
>>4062696this but actually cheaper ;_;Also for Baldur's Gate 3. I'm going to be waiting for a decade, aren't I
>>4065391>What the fuck, anon, why the hell do you ACKed the only likeable female companion in the game?I'M JOHNNY PALADIN FROM BALDUR'S GATE AND I SAY KILL 'EM ALL>KarlachTiefling, servant of a devil in the Blood War. I killed the fake paladins, too.>AstarionElf, faggot, vampire.>ShadowtartPriestess of evil goddess.>Lae'zelGithyanki.>WyllWarlock, sold his soul to a devil for power.>GaleEhhhhhh he's that kind of fake neutral where you just know he's really lawful evil. I left him in his portal, because the faggot DM gave me a game over if I let him out and then killed him and didn't resurrect him.I wish I'd killed Halsin, but in that run I was only specifically trying to kill the origin characters.I was also forced to involuntarily kill Minsc by the faggot DM even though I specifically used non-lethal blows to knock him out.

Balduran Magic user MCs should be able to claim Lorroakan's tower and shop. That worthless retard Tiefling Rolan who you have to savenand who just got to the city right when you did claiming it is retarded, especially since you have to babysit him in the tower fight.
>>4066145This is a topic that goes beyond BG3, but this is why playing a pure magic user main character is an exercise in humiliation. There will always be random story wizards that can do cooler magic shit than you. At least if you're a fighter you get the last word from any tough martial enemy since you kill them.
>>4066145>That worthless retard Tiefling Rolan who you have to savenand who just got to the city right when you did claiming it is retardedRefugees built Baldur's Gate, chud.
>>4062696I try not to pay more than $20 for any game. Based practice.
>>4066845Guybrush Threepwood over here
I knew something was up with the game when they decided to tie a very plot important item to an npc youre supposed to be given the option to get rid of or side against, and then later when I found out one of the early party members literally isnt allowed to die or else you just cant play the game anymore. And then the clearly suspicious person in my dreams, who I am given multiple chances to express distrust of, is required to side with or else Im not allowed to play the game. And then the very clearly shady nocturne magatama rip offs the game pushes you to just use and not question ever have pretty much no real downside when taken and has nothing special for deciding to abstain from them except being a very handicapped protagonist who just gave up an entire skill tree for nothing in return
>>4066071>because the faggot DM gave me a game over if I let him out and then killed him and didn't resurrect him.I find it at least really funny that, objectively, the most effective way to solve his problem is cutting his hand off in the portal and letting him die in whatever inbetween realm he's stuck in so the bomb hits nothingAnd then you can fucking keep the hand, that's hilarious
>>4038803>ridiculizing two of the most beloved charactersTwo? Who is the other one?
>>4064569>Every player is not meant to have the same experience, and find the same stuff, some things are even mutually exclusive within the same playthrough. And to find ANYTHING, you have to scale a terribly designed map through a convoluted and inconvenient manner. This is one of the biggest problems with the game. Stop pretending that the map is good, because it's not, and if you personally enjoy tormenting yourself then that isn't indictive of a well designed game; it just makes you a masochist. Stop defending objective trash and go see a psychiatrist instead of playing this autistic tranny game.
https://www.reddit.com/r/BaldursGate3/comments/14wzqiw/sovereign_glut_bug/Genuinely why the fuck myconid quest is soo poorly designed. I was getting prepared to just accept there is nothing but really short repeatable dialogue in there and move on, but apparently there is another one unique shroom npc there somewhere that is actually the one you supposed to talk to.
>>4069482Kind of remind me of right when skyrim came out and all the people asking online how to open those dragon claw doors.
>>4065396she's red you idiot
>>4065391>only likeable female companion the gameVery strange that you seem to have confused Minthara for Karlach.
>>4070358You can't fool me
>>4038803the only reason this game was popular is because a bunch of troons could cosplay as themselves at last by being a wannabe daywalking vampire that fucks animals, along with anything else that moved. the only thing missing was a monkeypox quest
>>4038803>story-wise Larian made very little efforts to connect it to the Baalpawn sagaAnd that's a good thing. The Baalspawn saga is the second worst plot element of Forgotten Realms, the first being the Time of Troubles.
The seethe about BG3 comes exclusively from its adherence to the left liberal, pro-LGBTQ, sex-positive zeitgeist. Failed post-early-twenties men despise this state of affairs because they’re the only ones losing in it. When attempting to escape it through “RPG games”, they still have to contend with it as they play-pretend with their digital action figures. Oh, back in my day, I could at least pretend to have a fun life in the computer; but not anymore, they lament. Case in point, Shadowheart being promiscuous caused gigabytes worth of written seethe since the game’s release.Imagine BG3 without the “woke shit”, and with the option to have a child with a cute, innocent virgin, as was the case in previous installments. It would have been heralded as a “modern masterpiece” by /v/tards, for its riveting story, excellent VA and top-tier gameplay. BG3 doesn’t pay homage to the “good old days” of everyone being white and girls being virgins, because these days are gone, and they’re never coming back. For everyone outside of failed men, the current state of affairs is strictly better, and there’s no reason to cling to the past.Of course, enough winners and women bought BG3 to make /vrpg/‘s opinion irrelevant. Many such cases!
0/10 bait, no (you). You're not even trying.
