Despite taking surface level inspiration from Touhou, Toby has failed even the most basic fundamentals of good bullet hell game design. Players just don't notice the friction because most encounters are easy and repetitive, the health bar makes the game incredibly forgiving, and boss fights usually pivot away from the bullet hell style into some gimmick or minigame. A lot of people fighting the knight will have their complaints dismissed with "get good" "skill issue". But they are saying the same things I said the first time I fought the little froggies in the ruins. It's not the casuals fault for not noticing the 30fps frame rate and terrible hitboxes until the game really put pressure on them.
>>4039915I SURE LOVE TALKING ABOUT MY FAVORITE GAME THAT AFFIRMS MY GENDER AND SEXUALITY
>>4039915>the health bar makes the game incredibly forgivingBehead those who insult health bar
>>4039915It just so happens that neither Undertale nor Deltarune is a bullet hell game. The bullet patterns work well for the games they were built for. As shown by the massive success of the games.
>>4039924That said, I'm being overly dismissive, sorry. You're right that maybe the games would be even better with a higher frame rate. The hitboxes aren't a huge issue in my opinion, but I'm sure they could be improved.
>>4039924Their fans swear it is a bullet hell, if you disagree they demand you to post a 1cc of the only challenging section of the game, proving that the game is indeed a bullet hell game.
>>4039915Congratulations anon, by making another thread related to Undertale/Deltarune, you have now made sure that a bunch of schizos will get incredibly mad when the current Deltarune thread hits image limit after +2000 posts gets replaced by a new one, leading to these schizos to claim that there's just too many Undertale/Deltarune threads on the board and that Undertale/Deltarune threads are gonna get kicked out.
>>4039971>if you disagree they demand you to post a 1cc of the only challenging section of the gameI've done this in a thread, but I was only shitposting to mess with a guy. It was meant to be an absurd post ("post your undertale 1cc").
i don't think toby is trying to make a hard bullet hell
>>4040063I mean I think the bigger issue is that this thread could have been pooled in one of the other discussion threads and was only really made because someone was upset hours ago and thinks spamming the board is a way to get back at people in those threads. You know, cause this thread reads really poorly like one guy is trying to set up a narrative
>>4039915There is a reason that's why it's an RPG not a pure bullet hell.Progression matters
>>4039915I know it's sound a little bit crazy and unconventional...but couldn't you just create a second /vg/ thread, if the main one is such a dump for you to posting about the game?
>>4040063Yeah, I think he's more interested in creating a unique depiction of the way enemies attack the player in an RPG environment using the medium of bite-sized bullet hell patterns rather than create touhou 2: the legend continues.
>>4041067How does that contradict making a game that doesn't play like complete shit
do no hit runs of the entire 5 chapters with hard mods on
>>4040063there is no "hell", only bullets, easy bullets
