And also, who would you say is your favorite character? Mine is Citan of course
They're all perfect, it's peak. I will now hide this thread to take cover from the /vr/'s userbase.
A masterpiece, obviously with its flaws. I understand the criticism of Disc 2 perfectly well, but I still maintain that scenes like the Onions System in particular are more emotionally powerful when told in retrospect. Unfortunately, despite this, some characters still disappear, but it's already a miracle that such an ambitious title exists in the first place. Other titles acclaimed for their story, like PST or DE, however beautiful, not only were born in indie contexts or at least with far fewer resources, but remain intimate, micro works, one of Xenogears' most unique merits is seamlessly blending the micro and the macro. Many stories focus entirely on the micro (like PST) or entirely on the macro (classic sci-fi where characters are merely cold functions). What Xenogears does is rare in any medium
Sorry, can I ask what do you mean by PST and DE?

/vg/ is leaking again but whatever
maybe not the best one but its is my personal favorite among the ps1 jarpig 3d overworlds
Xenogears a shit
Great game, one of my favorite RPGs.
I never found the mystery all that exciting in disc 1, a lot of it just felt like "go here, okay actually go here, now here" over and over and over again with such minimal drip of exposition along the way.The rushed (and shit) reveals in disc 2 were a huge letdown. It doesn't help that the combat is beyond the point of repetitive and disc 2 has a random encounter every 3 fucking steps. Tedious. Overall tried to do way too much and the result is a bit of a mess. I can't give a game credit for wanting to be grandiose but then getting the rug pulled and you're left with a mess to rapidly wrap-up when it feels like you just started going.
i like upgrading the robos. omega engine with 100 fuel is so cool
>>4040134non-mech combat was a complete afterthought
I love old jrpgs but this game is incredibly slow. You walk slow, the fights are slow, even the text speed in dialogue boxes is way too slow.
>>4040134>storyamong the best in the history of games>lorelore and story are inseparable when it comes to Xenogears (and Xeno in general). Lore, plot, and characters are heavily intertwined in the series. >combatvery standard ps1 era jRPG combat so it's meh at best>charactersmajor villain and protag character are great in general. The biggest flaw for me is about half the characters in the main party matter very little beyond their respective arcs and just tag along>favorite characterFei for sure
>>4040134The combat sucks and the dungeons and encounter rate even more so.The story didn't really hit for me even though it has lots of cool ideas. The main cast (fei/citan/elly) are good characters but the extended party don't really get enough to say or do. I barely remember any of the villains.
>>4040779Villains are easily memorable, bro 1v1’d a giant robot with his bare hands
>>4046604>bro 1v1’d a giant robot with his bare handsJohnny Five… Alive…
It's certainly the best RPG featuring playable mecha by a long shot
>>4040761Xenogears is my favorite rpg of all time, and this post about sums it all up.
>>4040779>I barely remember any of the villains.I'd say the villains are some of the most memorable in any game. So many good ones with unique motivations, personality, backstory and activities within the game. One of Xenogear's best elements. Grahf, Gazel Ministry, Cain, Ramsus, Miang, and even Deus.
>>4046951I liked how Ramsus just went 'you know what, fuck it' towards the plot and just left to bang these four. The only smart antagonist in PSX era.
>>4047047He was so hung up on trying to outdo Fei at everything, and it took him the entire game to realize he already had a harem when Fei only had one girl.
