kazuma kaneko recently said these 3 series are not connected despite the games all clearly showing otherwise at multiple points. genuinely, what was he smoking that made him go on this bout of (metem)psychosis?

it's easter egg shit, who cares
>>
western taxonomical systematization (fandom) is the death of joy
not everything is a meant to be a crossover
>>
>>4044062
you don't even have to get to the point of arguing against being a wiki sperg. Just put yourself in the shoes of people that were making individual games. They weren't trying to masterfully craft the overarching Atlus metaplot
>>
>>4044046
if you play anything other than modern fatlus slop, they clearly tie into each other
>>4044062
>>4044064
except they were actually creating some shared universe until they dropped it in later shit
>>
>>4043952
Because of SMT3. The starting cutscene in the Kalpa is basically the answer to how all of these games exist without being in the same universe.
>>
I ignore what creators say
I will interpret the works in any way I want, If I say they are connected then they are
>>
>>4043952
But the Raidou detective agency is in Persona 1 and 2, was it not? Unless he just means they're standalone stories in the same setting.
>>
>>4044890
exactly, DS and persona are explicitly in the same timeline but according to him they're just not.
with SMT 1/2, sure it's the apocalyptic version of that world, but he says the same for SMT if which makes no sense if the girl mc is in all 3 original persona games talking about how she's fought demons
>>
Wasn't the concept of multiverse already exist in SMT? Just believe that there are universes where they are connected and there are universes where they aren't, problem solve
>>
>>4043952
>guy who didn't write the games: "yeah uhhhhh according to me, the in-game text doesn't matter, nor do the events in the game. i say it's not connected so it just isn't"
okay well i don't care. especially since it's been 30 fucking years since any of this was made.
>>
>>4044046
Tamaki isn't an easter egg, she's a literal smt mc who's also a persona side character
>>
>>4044424
mental illness, that's how we got the "harry potta is da bisexual daddy" types
>>
>>4043952
I think it's the same thing as Nasuverse. Originally various franchises were supposed to exist within the same Earth. But it was too much trouble, so they were separated into own timelines.
>>
>>4045187
Dont care, its still how it works
>>
>>4045206
Correct me if I am wrong, but multiple timelines was the whole point in the mid-90s. SMT If was a "what if" AU where the 20th century apocalypse that led to SMT I and II was averted, and Demon Summoner and Persona were stories set in that AU verse where the demonic forces yet threatened the world but the world was now urban fantasy instead of post-apocalyptic of a mainline SMT game. The problem comes in later games on if there even MORE timelines or even wholesale unrelated continuities as later devs in the 00s to present largely crafted their own games with minimal regard to what came before. If later SMT mainline games, Demon Summon games, and Persona games can still fit within the split timeline created by If, then great. If not, Atlus doesn't really care.
>>
>>4045529
the games were the point and the connections were zero importance easter eggs. The most you can say about them is that the slight connections justified the extreme asset reuse
>>
>>4045574
It's because Tamaki is Otada's waifu
>>
>>4045574
>asset reuse
things like in-game text connecting the games, plot points, and entirely new art/sprites aren't reused assets. tamaki, karukozaka high, the kuzunoha agency, kyouji being the fat old detective, raidou 2's entire existence, etc etc are squarely iterative ideas that connect these games. you'd have to have only played the more recent games to think it's just easter eggs
>>
>>4045066
he didn't really write them but he did have a hand in the world building and processes but even fatlus has put out their own timeline contradicting what he says
>>
>>4045150
there's also the fact that one of the NPCs in her game mentions seeing the smt 1 guy wearing his cool arm computer so he made the one tamaki wears. and the villain of her game appears as a side quest in soul hackers, albeit that one is basically an easter egg
>>
>>4043952
Who cares
