That's genuinely a good message, ignoring how cringe anime is. Cooperation is necessary.

Anon, perhaps in the last six years you might have grown up and stopped playing JRPGs. Just a thought.

The real problem with JRPGs is they make you plod through 50 hours of melodramatic horseshit. 40 years of bugmen desperately trying to write a decent narrative and still nothing.

>I'm a retard
Don’t sign your posts.
A more cogent critique of JRPGs would be that they frequently have little opportunity for true roleplaying, due to having a fixed protagonist designed for self-inserting and a story-on-rails.
Or that they tend to have simple gameplay that is targeted at children, where most difficulty can be sidestepped through grinding, if the player chooses, and that most difficulty is purely self-imposed. That’s why you’re supposed to grow out of JRPGs after your teens.
Complaining that they don’t have “decent narratives” is just silly. That’s all they are. Comfy games for kids with simple but entertaining gameplay, memorable stories and characters, and good music.
>>
>>4046780
Why does this even offend people? I see people constantly who go “oh man it’s the power of friendship amirite guys”, as if that’s something weird and embarrassing. It’s mostly gamer bros

>another jrpg where you use the power of friendship to kill god and save the world
Honestly I think this piece of shit might be the worst offender.

>something like 30 hours of build up and drama
>genuine serious war story
>finally unlock the route system after time looping
>first route is some generic romance route where nothing of the 30 hours mattered
>back out and go to a different one
>it's a retarded shounen fantasy about the POWER OF FRIENDSHIP where the day is saved by good vibes or whatever
>prepared to drop the game at this point
>play one more route since everyone says 'it's good'
>continues the story of the first 30 hours for once
>...only for it to also be a power of friendship deal with a caveat that all the characters weren't real people and nothing that happened really even mattered
This was like getting raped for hours on end.
>>
>>4054571
>>4055242
See this is what I mean. Why does friendship make you irrationally angry?
>>
>>4055273
The issue isn't friendship, it's that the game is about something else for 30 hours and then throws out everything it was about to end on the same generic note multiple times over.
This shit has 100 endings and probably 95% of them are worthless bad ends, and the remaining 5% are the same generic "power of friendship" shit. May as well have made a game with two endings so I wouldn't have wasted my time on reaching the same point.
>>
>>4055275
There’s only so many ways a story can end. I never see people get so mad about other tropes, like how an evil empire always self-destructs because there’s no other plausible way to get them out of the story quickly (ff6, ff7, ff14, etc)
>>
>>4055283
>There’s only so many ways a story can end.
And this game ends 100 times where all the endings that actually matter are the same ending.

>>4055242
>this game is 50 dollars and has 100 endings
Was the dev team told to keep it quantity > quality?
>>
>>4055321
The game's gimmick is that it has 100 endings. It actually did a pretty okay job of selling that by making the initial opening about as long as any normal game (30 hours), but then all the routes are just
>2nd Scenario
Power of friendship
>Reset
You didn't use the power of friendship so bad end!!
>Goodbye Eito
You didn't use the power of friendship so sad end!!
>Rebellion
Power of Friendship, and if you don't use it, you get a bad ending.
>Eva
I guess instead of friendship it's sex.
And so on, and so on.
Even the super secret hidden true ending is just more power of friendship stuff.

> people working together is… LE BAD!

People can work together all they want, but the game's story becomes vapid and retarded when everyone fleshed out ending is just
>And then they worked together and beat God :)

Most games that use this trope don't try to reason their way to solution. The friends don't actually do anything. It's magical thinking, a way to throw out the conflict and receive a convenient ending.
In the most ironic cases, it's just might makes right under a thin veneer of morality.
>>
Power of friendship is kino and i'm tired or pretending it isn't
>>
>>4055283
NTA.

>There’s only so many ways a story can end.
This is true in a sense, but an equally valid ending is that the Hero loses.

>I never see people get so mad about other tropes
Nothing compares to a feminist reciting all the ways "women in refrigerators" has done all of womankind wrong. They hate the damsel in distress trope with a passion. They hate anything "male gaze-y," and the such. Just little, sizzling, pellets of pure anger.

>like how an evil empire always self-destructs because there’s no other plausible way to get them out of the story quickly (ff6, ff7, ff14, etc)
Well that's just kind of how action/adventure shakes out. Most people are not on board with a story that's going to be 40 hours long going beat-by-beat the war of attrition as your team of "plucky good guys" sows salt all over the Empire's crops, dams up all the fresh water rivers running into Empire territory, and tainting all the other major water sources the Empire might use instead... among other war crimes.

Usually there's some "thing" that's named a combination of two other things like "whisper" and "stone" to make the "whisperstone," and of course this some "thing" has enough power that can instantly wipe out the rebellion or wipe the Empire out and so it's a mad dash to who can harness it aptly first. People will sit for an hour and half to see how that shakes out.

>You sound like the kid who hasn’t grown out of their “I only play M rated games” phase
Projecting posts like this are always amusing to read. I'm probably older than you two faggots combined. Helping my kids play through Chrono Trigger right now, having a blast. Music and story are pure nostalgia. FF4 next in the queue.
>>
>>4046787
the real power of friendship is having more people to beat the enemy up with, it's mostly bad executed and disliked when a bunch of characters say some shit to the protagonist and suddenly the protagonist is op and can kick ass on his own after being thrown around moments ago, it's well executed when the power of friendship is portrayed as the characters ACTUALLY helping the protagonist and working together to achieve victory as a team that couldn't have done alone, which also keeps the villain as a visible threat, since it required multiple people in order to win
>>
>the party is captured and taken prisoner and must break out after their items are confiscated
