i think i like shining force cd more than shining force 1 and shining force 2
i didn't really like the town exploration in the first two games
i just liked the battles

I ended up feeling the exact opposite, really. Shining Force's battles aren't strong enough imo to stand without all the walking around which helps flesh out the world and story a little bit in addition to letting you go look for items and new Force members. Without that stuff, SFCD was only okay.

eh, nearly every SRPG is "just the battles"
Having the exploration stuff in there gave those games their identity. it's part of what makes them standout.
