I stopped using my main character in battle after it became clear that he was unkillable at any point in the game, from level 1 to level 55.

It takes a little while longer for a voidborn/arc build to get going, but once it does (act 3) you're doing up to 10k shots that bounce to quite literally every targetable NPC on the map.
