I'm currently gathering every powerful weapon to give to my party members in Chapter 5. Here is the real main character of Disgaea 5, in my opinion. Nothing can survive her x4 Land Decimator or Tera Star. Even Level 9999 ProtoDarkDeath or Item Gods on 20-star difficulty die very easily to her. And her clone goes down to her x4 Tera Star, boosted by my Professor and another Sage (x2 is enough for that). Can I win against Demon Generals or survive against Demon Emperor Void Dark with only this power?

It's after the PS2 that things get dicey. Disgaea 4 is still good. D5 isn't as good as 4, but it's fun. Avoid all the 3D ones.

Overlord celebrities, whose names are known pretty wide, which means something among demons, since SOMEONE is going to come test you. If you DO take Disgaea 5 as a reliable source for some reason, then that's weak evidence of this, as most of the Overlords depicted in 5 are shitters. Despite Zetta being fully active at that point in time. Disgaea 5's worldbuilding sucks, do not bring it into lore discussions, is the takeaway.

The main thing seems to be once you defeat the overlord, if you're playing solo, there's no fighting to bring them back to the base like you'd have in multiplayer. You just control all your allies as normal and let one bring them back. It was still kind of fun as a solo experience though so I might pick it up. Basically just feels like D5's charaworld but fleshed out more and turned into it's own game. I'll try the "spicy demo" part of it later tonight. The little victory song was cute, I think it might be new because I didn't recognize it.

Toto Bunny was a peaceful Netherworld. Poisondise was a resort Netherworld. Prinny Village is a Netherworld that Prinnies live in. Netherworlds are simply worlds and planets where demons live. Each Netherworld is a country. And not all countries are the same in culture. Demons live as they like (Disgaea 3) and not many are obsessed with fighting to the point of winning against Baal.To be honest, I think Disgaea demons are elf. They live very long and can reincarnate to get a new body. They are arrogant, self-interested, care about themselves and their interest first and foremost. They are confident in their power and look down on inferior beings like humans and weaker demons. And some are lazy.

It's rarely worth dedicating a team slot to it, building a character for it is not even a thing you can do, and it doesn't usually last long enough to be something you do at the start of a map. Disgaea 3, and to a lesser extent 4 are also Skill Shop games, which importantly means nothing short of a Skeletal Dragon or Wood Golem is actually surviving a turn where it's exposed to enemies, so the idea of squeezing more utility out of half dead monsters is out the window. Additionally, monsters only turn into the one kind of weapon, and taking your spear-using Valkyrie and forcing an Axe into her hands has likely made her net worse, not better, so you need a level of premeditation, for something that only really shines when things are going south. Monsters are usually dogshit, meaning you're usually getting less out of them than just bringing another human, and if you're going out of your way to use monsters, you want to actually use them, not sac them for a humanoid. Machichange weapons also mostly fail to keep pace with regular shop weapons, meaning you are getting a whopping +1 attack, a decent extra skill, and an evility that maybe does something.A humanoid is usually picking its weapon type for a pretty specific reason, which means you need specifically that weapon type of monster. Then you need one with an Evility that is actually useful. THEN you need to keep them sort of together, and able to merge at the correct time. And for your trouble, you get a negligible bonus to offense, a moderate bonus to durability and everything else (this is pointless in 3 and 4), a skill that might deal a bit more damage, and maybe a strange bit of utility for your humanoid. At a baseline, every monster getting two weapon types would make it IMMENSELY better, since it makes it more flexible. Most monsters already have two magichange weapons by now anyways. Postgame is its own deal.

Spent more time with Prinny Party. Actually did a full multiplayer game with friends, was pretty fun. However with the demo settings the game ends relatively quickly so you don't have time to make enough money to buy the bet weapons and armors. Also figured out you can totally play solo with no bots and just one character, but it's instant game over if you die.
Is there really no srpg series that doesn't have fanservice in them, so you could latch onto that one and stop crying about "muh pedophilia"?

If you take too long to finish the game in Prinny Party, Etna shows up and throws a bunch of Prinny everywhere in the map dealing massive damage (way more than Laharl's meteors)
