When does it start being fun?
>>4065268When you turn it off and start playing Wizardry 1/2/3 instead.
After you do the "spend a week in the dungeon" quest.
>>4065268don't bother, there's almost no story, it's just a grinding game for autists
>>4065306This is pretty close to the truth, either you wanted a jrpg where it actually matters what you click each turn and you have to engage with the systems. Or you just want to grind away any resistance so you can mindless mash buttons while looking at youtube/streamers/etc but for some reason chose to play this series instead of 99% of jrpgs that give you a generic anime story or boobies to look at between strings of battles.
>>4065318EO has boobies for you to look at. It has cute flatties, too.
>>4065268Yes
>>4065306>>4065268You CAN grind, if you don't want to bother learning to play the game, but it certainly doesn't require any grinding at all. None of the entires do, not outside of post game anyway. The fun in these games, at least for me, is in designing your own party in a way that you don't have to grind. But if you're the type who always checks the optimal guide from online, you probably won't have too much fun with these games, depends what you want from the game though. Drawing your own map is also fun, adds to the feeling of being an explorer. Turning on auto-mapping takes a lot out of these games in my opinion.
>>4065359The skill trees are overwhelming. If you don't already understand the game then you're going to fuck up and waste a bunch of points and then have to compensate by grinding.
>>4065268I heard the final boss is basically insane and if you don't have a perfect build you have to go respec and grind for like 30 hours to face him. That is the fun.
>>4065386That much is true, I guess EO1 is a bad starting point in that sense. EO3, 4 and 5 are much more forgiving starting points, which give you enough knowledge that you should be fine in the more difficult entries. Unfortunately 4 & 5 are trapped on dead hardware. There's online skill trees though, which are nice for party planning and don't just shove a premade build down your throat, that should help you navigate the skill tree better. They also have a bit more information on what a skill actually does, so you're not blindly picking something.
>>4065393Thats the postgame boss, nothing up to B25F requires some intense grind. The game wants you to have a protector and a medic on your team to beat the hardest fights unless you have the game knowledge to beat it without (also possible)
>>4065386You can always respec. I usually end up doing that around the final stratum to lock in my final strategies. Up until there just pick stuff that sounds good and have a balanced party. I beat EO1 as my first real DRPG as a retarded college student when it came out, you surely can too. I didn't use Immunize or Caldacus, mashed a bunch of points into the various Wall skills, and put points into whatever sword Landy skills sounded like they'd do big damage. It was all fine.
>>4065323>It has cute flatties, too.I will now play this series
>>4065268minute 1
You can tell it's an Atlus game because buffs/debuffs are basically mandatory.
>>4065699buffs/debuffs are useful in most jrpgs
>>4065707My only frame of reference is Square Enix.
>>4065710Your only frame of reference is final fantasy, buffs and debuffs are important in SaGa as well.
>>4065710>My only frame of reference is Square Enix.I’m sorry, anon. Please go back and play all the old Squaresoft games.
>>4065730Okay what now?
>>4065710even the earliest dragon quest games put a huge emphasis on using buffs and debuffs
>>4065268it doesn'tthis series was never popular for a reason
>>4065699what kinda rpgs do you play where buffs & debuffs aren't used?
>>4065777>wasn't popular>got 6 installments and counting
It was immediately fun for me
>>4065401The HD version of 1 actually implemented more modern skill tree (and map tools which is also nice), along with making so rest only drains 5 levels instead of 10 - it's still pretty steep but manageable.Usually I don't give a damn about HD remakes of the games, but in the case of EO 1-3 the quality of life additions are just really worth it.
The trilogy is shit, everything after that is so much better.
This game looks like it would be a 10/10 porn game.
>>4066487You should see what else this artist draws.
>>4065957>and countingAnon, I...
>>4065268The Untolds are just better games>>4065726buffs and debuffs are important in many final fantasy games too
>>4065268I admit EO1 can be a rough ride and it takes a little while to feel like you're doing goodEO3 hits its stride much faster, as does 5 and apparently 4 (though I havent played that one)
>>40672985's issue is that it completely drops the ball on having a plot, and was clearly rushed outI like the classes though, 5 has good classes
>>4067278>The Untolds are just better gamesIn some ways, but do you really like Untold 1's grimore stone shit? Really? You sure? >>4067298I haven't played 5 but 4 is easily my favorite EO game so far. It's biggest problem is a lack of enemy variety caused by the switch to 3D, but everything else about it feels like a team that knows exactly what they want and how to get it. It feel so good to play
>>4065268That's the neat part, it doesn't. The early game rewards you if you abuse status ailments. Later on you can start playing the game normally.
>>4066487Ero trap etriam wen
