I like playing on the side of the good guys, and especially like playing on the side of the good guys in a setting where you supposed to play as a villain. It's a shame Obsidian don't put that much effort into rebellion path tho, you can see it in a lot of side content and dlc - people react to you as you've still being a Kyros pawn and expect you to kill and rape them or whatever, with your dialogue choices often based around that as well.

I don't recall most of what you mentioned? Granted, I've played it many years ago and I've never finished it because i was not enjoying the combat.

1. Companions were alright. I liked the drug addled historian grandpa well enough. The guy who got stuck in his armour was ok. I don't remember straight up hating anyone except for the furry girl.

2. Writing was serviceable. Nothing so terrible so to make me quit on the spot.

3. Story had an intriguing premise. Which was the reason I've downloaded it to begin with. They failed to do as much as they could with it, unfortunately. I would love for the whole game to be just moving tokens on the map like it is during the character creation if that means i would get more well written and fleshed out lore.Every time you actually got to be the judge was fun. Tunon was fun. Graven Ashe was likeable. Subverting the will of Kairos and finding loopholes in his laws always felt good. Would be even better if Kairos would show up periodically and clarify that no matter how clever you think yourself to be everything you do is still within "acceptable parameters". I just wish that tyranny would do more with Kairos in general. He is such an intriguing person and yet we get to know almost nothing about him.

4. Your companions loving and/or fearing you gave you new abilities in combat. That's the only good thing i can tell you about it. I feel like you should be able to max out both of those for your favourites by the end of the game. Machiavelli style.

5. You'd have to be more specific. Where was the woke shit? You shouldn't accuse games of being like veilguard lightly. That was a very particular case of cancer.

6. That's a very common affliction. Can you recommend me a couple of games that do not do that? I would be much obliged.

Honestly the fact that we don't get much of Kairos is what makes the game stand out to me. You have to piece together that Kairos in fact wants everyone in this shitty part of the world dead because these two chucklefucks are too powerful to be left alive in peacetime. The most satisfying route to me was the one where you become the Archon of the Tiers and just carry on as a provincial leader.

best way to play this game is as a true kyros fearing lawful evil chud.
there is one sidedungeon where you find an entire refugee settlement inside the old walls and despite it being an intended main fixture of the quest the game gives you the choice to just outright condemn the entire settlement and execute them all for breaking kyros' law. iirc it makes the rest of the dungeon a slog but its too kino of a decision for me not to do.

I do actually agree with you in that it's not strictly a pseudo-bronze age setting, though I can understand why people describe it as such because it gets a lot of focus during the game and it's a rare setting, especially for rpgs.
