so with more UT/DR fangames and mods coming out, what do you think the future of the scene will look like?
doomed to AU hell or will the majority be fangames with original ideas.
>>
>>4070173
I think were going to see more original ideas if your image and some of the local games keep getting worked on. Theres always going to be skeletonslop and all that but game dev seems to be getting more accessible.
My biggest worry is the greater fandom is very stifling, but I feel the current of people getting sick of that to some extent at least.

You can see some of that in the subfanbase for dry for instance

so I finally finished setting the tiles for this area, probably the most complex area in the game so far with the amount of nodes and layers for the tiles/background objects
I mentioned that I was going to add a festival to DRY after chapter 5, and I already had plans for a festival like area even before that chapter happened, and it's finally here
just gotta make all the npcs, events and minigames here. after each minigame, the npcs will change around and get new dialogue so there is new stuff to do every time
the ferris wheel also spins and characters can sit inside of it (there will be cutscenes there)
this is still for the first half of this dark world, after this is the 2nd half, will likely not show as many things from the 2nd half since I want to keep the contents a surprise for now
might show some clips once I start coding some of the minigames/enemies later
>>
>>4070175
>a REAL festival
Im excited, definitely looking forward to the ferris wheel scenes
>>
>>4070175
Add the evil basketball minigame from chapter 1 as an optional minigame, and be sure to call it "The Evil Basketball Minigame" and make the guy running it be appropriately evil and sadistic. But then have a really good prize for actually beating it.
>>
>>4070175
Looks like the festival we got teased with in that famitsu article released before chapter 5.
>>
>>4070175
To this day it still amazes me how fast you are at making DRY1
>>
>>4070182
I did think about it but I think it's better to just leave the game in chapter 1 seeing how many people disliked it, besides I already have ideas for all the other minigames and adding more now would make the chapter too long (this isn't like the tenna boards in chapter 3, the minigames will be short-ish, but I want to make them fun)

>>4070190
I've pretty much given up all my hobbies and side projects so I can finish this hopefully sometime by next year, so I can then focus on my other projects (including the original game idea)
>>
>>4070197
I'm just saying bring it back as a gag. Or at least fake out bringing it back. Like the basketball guy shows up and offers you a game, only for Kanako to immediately reject being pelted with basketballs again.

Or maybe its like the schizo boss of minigames, hidden in a back alley behind all the other games, and its the Kaizo Evil Basketball Game.
>>
>>4070204
Oh, and the game plays Black Knife when you play it, or some other suitably intense song.
>>
>>4070205
>"create a minigame to thrash your own ass"
>"imported from lancer industries (which was made up a few years into the future)"
>all the components are the basketball game

Watching some people do playthroughs of Deltarune (you can only play Deltarune for the first time once, so watching other people do it is the next best thing, and can be very informative.) I think I was correct in saying Flowery and Pink completely crashed the value of voice clips. None of the people who fought Jevil after seeing them gave a shit about him or his gimmick.

I still think he ended up being the best shadow crystal boss overall, I wish they shilled him a bit like the spammy mailman

I think voice acting can work in UTDR but restraint should be practiced if it's going for a gimmicky mixed media approach like Flowery
>>
>>4070219
I think Flowery just ruined it for all the other bosses. The restraint would've been not including him.

I think my experience with chapters 3, 4, and especially 5 has made me a hardline minimalist when it comes to these games. Less is more, and more is less.

As for the best shadow crystal boss, Spamton wins purely off of writing alone. He's the best written thing in this game by a landslide.

>>
>>4070217
Personally speaking I think between Tenna and even the fangame Scampton the Great voice clips became a bit mundane a concept before Chapter 5. I also think people care a little too much about making sure they have strictly unique character gimmicks that haven't been done before rather than choosing a gimmick, if one is needed at all, that bolsters the boss's personality or themes.
Shower thought, Jevil and Flowery both have themes of being free, unrestrained by the confines of the world they're in, and they both regularly talk via voice clips.
>>
>>4070250
> I also think people care a little too much about making sure they have strictly unique character gimmicks that haven't been done before rather than choosing a gimmick, if one is needed at all, that bolsters the boss's personality or themes.
The problem is that with the voice clips, overuse hamstrings the themes present with them, completely defeating the purpose of them and retroactively neutering the bosses that used them better. Its like how DBZ ruined super saiyan by giving it out for free.

>Shower thought, Jevil and Flowery both have themes of being free, unrestrained by the confines of the world they're in, and they both regularly talk via voice clips.
I know, that's just Flowery rehashing Jevil's character, but louder, devaluing it in the process.

>>
>>4070269

To kiss them goodnight, of course. You wouldn't want them to feel neglected.

> it would probably feel like cotton candy
Why cotton candy specifically?
>>
>>4070277
What a sorrowful youth you had.
>>
>>4070276
that's already happening regardless because twitter hates any hetero relationship, see them complaining about the clown couple from endocopia being straight and nothing bad happening in their relationship
>>
>>4070278
I don't know. It would feel weird to kiss a plush, feels like it's forcing yourself on it

>Why cotton candy
Because it is similar to plush stuffing and BunBun is sweet as a character
>>
>>4070283
Well the people who don't actually hate that, might consciously or subconsciously treat DRY worse since they have been already exposed to a similar idea.
>>
>>4070276
>People might get tired of a dude/gf duo
anon, I desperately need you to understand how silly this is.
The kind of people that COULD get tired of this are already "tired" of it. they are already the types that say "shipping Ceroba is abusive to her (unless it's yuri)" because these people were already insane, and also weren't the target audience for gta 6. Even if they play it, I don't care about their opinions in the first place.
>>4070293
Anon no that's silly.
>>
>>4070287
>I don't know. It would feel weird to kiss a plush, feels like it's forcing yourself on it
First of all, you can kiss a plush platonically. They're your friends, and are innocent souls at heart (at least the childhood ones are, I wouldn't know the disposition of the plushes people buy from adult websites). An innocent loving kiss like a mother would give a child is something they would appreciate.

Second of all, BunBun is alive and aware enough to know what's going on. I'm sure she would tell you if she's not okay with a kiss.

>Because it is similar to plush stuffing and BunBun is sweet as a character
oh you meant on the inside. I was thinking about the felt/wool on the outside. Most plushes, or at least the kind meant for children like BunBun, don't have exposed stuffing. I kinda imagined her mouth as just being a different colored patch of fabric that changes shape when she talks.
>>
>>4070266
It might already be affecting them. Maybe its why Abib is being so aggressive lately, he doesn't want Deltarune taking up space for GTA 6 threads.
>>
>>4070307
Granted, I know it's not productive to dwell on stuff like this and it gets in the way of game discussion, but what do you mean "lately"? It's been a problem for 2 years now, that's one more year than one.

now melody/mylo on the other hand...
>M: "hey cole, i know how to solve the problem of this rat before she even gets to be a miniboss"
>C: "please dont"
>melody picks up orange as she struggles against her grip
>melody walks outside of the flower castle
>chucks her as far as she can
>M: "there we go!"
>C: "WHY????"
>M: "each of the flowers has been a miniboss so far, so i decided to solve that one early"
>>
>>4070305
What if it doesn't want to be kissed platonically either? What if it feels as if it has been trapped in your home against its will, with it hating it? If you are going to treat a plush as a character instead of just an object, then don't go halfway.
A gentle headpat will suffice.

And I was talking about IRL, of course the Dark world is different, they can actually say what they think.
>>
>>4070317
I don't think either of them would. If anything Kanako is going to be neglectful of her rather then confrontational

>>
>>4070322
> What if it feels as if it has been trapped in your home against its will, with it hating it?
Unlikely. Unless you've been severely mistreating them, they would enjoy it. It is simply their nature. They love physical affection. They're like dogs, dogs love having their personal space invaded

Plushes love hugs and kisses in the same way a bee loves flowers.

>>
>>4070296
Well, I hope what you say is true and it is just silly.

But atleast if anything Kanacole has the themes of justice about it. Usually it's a criminal/criminal couple like Bonnie and Clyde or criminal guy/prude woman in those types of stories. I don't think there are any stories where the couple are both on the side of the law, although Kanako definitely has her own interpretation of justice

>>4070580
I mean the whole modern marketing strategy where they just flood the internet with fake traffic is really disorientating, that's normal for it to feel "weird".
Before a shill gets uppity about it, yes, I do know that some people will be convinced to be interested in it or were interested in it, but the way things are marketed now is confusing and annoying.
It's not even really limited to /v/ either.
I used to like checking out the Steam Deck top played, but companies realized you could bot on a much smaller level to secure positions on the top of the top played as ad space and it's a whole business now and a lot of the games on there are kind of schizophrenic.
>>
>>4070580

it absolutely is silly on unfounded levels. First of all the kind of people who are into straight couples aren't just going to become full on gay because gta depicted a straight couple and now they're sick of it. That's not how being into heterosexual stuff works. The people who already hated straight couples could get more vocal I guess but those people were already bitter and insane. not for liking non straight couples, but for hating straight ones. They are genuinely just not worth giving any legitimacy.

>>
>>4070655

Question for you anons. Do you think when a human's soul is out in a fight, is it their real soul or just a representation that can be hurt via monster magic?
>>
>>4070927
I like going with representation, because while realistically injuries are probably only happening to the soul, when writing it feels more "impactful" for the attacks to hit the body in various places rather than describe "the soul the soul the soul" over and over again.
>>
>>4070927
Both at various points in time or maybe even both at once depending on POV.
>>
>>4070655

>>
>>4070927
I see it as a representation, to me the soul never leaves the body, battles in Undertale probably look no different from those overworld segments in Deltarune where you have to dodge bullets
>>
>>4070927
It's in a quantum superpostion, both the real thing and representation depending on context, just like Kris's gender
>>
>>4070941
What about the soul in Deltarune? We do see it actually move around outside the body through its representation in UI in the weird route, and the soul being moved to dodge during the "think of Susie" segments seems to get (you) away from Kris. Maybe the soul actually does exit Kris's body in Deltarune.
>>
>>4070935
>>4070937
>>4070941
>>4070947
So if one were to 'snatch' that soul (an outside force while the human is distracted in the fight), it wouldn't actually manage to steal the soul then on all of your opinion?
>>
>>4070947
Or maybe its both things depending on how its observed. Quantum states tend to be based on observation. So you look at it like a player, and its literally there wherever the sprite is on screen. Meanwhile you look at it like an in universe character, and the soul is still in Kris.
>>
>>4070949
I don't think so. It just feels too "easy" like it breaks the rules somehow.

>it wouldn't actually manage to steal the soul then on all of your opinion?
It would probably depend on how meta aware the character is and how much determination they have.
>>
>>4070954
nta, but basically any rule in the setting can be broken if you're determined enough.
>>
>>4070959
but how much determination does that one take since we never saw that rule broken? It must be quite the threshold since even chara can't force you to give your soul up as far as we know.
>>
>>4070956
So it wouldn't be too out of the realm of possibility for that to happen?
>>
>>4070927
its a representation. unless you're lucid enough to the world's mechanics to see beyond the veil.
spamton and ralsei are lucid and aware of it, so they're able to notice and target the soul directly.
susie is lucid to the game's mechanics but too dumb to take advantage of it, so she only knows that kris's soul is outside of his body during combat.
>>
>>4070948
The soul does leave the body in Deltarune during those moments where you fuck with the interface, but so far those have been exclusive to the weird route.
Remember that in Undertale you also had overworld bullet segments but they worked slightly different with Undyne shooting spears and the lasers in Hotland, the soul never left the body during those moments.
That being said, I just remembered that in Undertale Sans can hit you during your turn by placing bones over the UI, I have no idea how that would work in either interpretation of the soul mechanics.
>>4070949
I still think that wouldn't be possible since I believe the soul never leaves the body during fights.
>>
>>4070969
>>4070976
Hmm, seems like representation is the most common idea, back to the drawing board I go I guess.
>>
>>4070969
NTA, but on that topic Deltarune's combat system always bothered me because there's no explanation on how the bullet dodge works in universe, why attacks that hit our soul sometimes inflict damage on Ralsei and Susie? (sometimes not even dealing damage to Kris).
What do Ralsei and Susie even do during those moments? Do they just stand there and pray that Kris dodges all the attacks for them?
>>
>>4070984
thats the point of it being a representation unless you're lucid.
during susie's explanation to gerson about the party's adventures she talks about all their epic battles, and uses the sugar cubes and silverware to re-enact them. which implies that at the very least she's trying to dodge attacks. she has no idea that the bullet box is an abstraction.
ralsei, on the other hand, is fully aware of the soul's purpose and explains it during the start of the game. even if he's pretending to dodge or not, he knows well enough that (you)'re ultimately the sole dictator of if the party takes damage.
>>
>>4070998
>she has no idea that the bullet box is an abstraction.
As far as I'm aware the bullet box does exist and the monsters are aware of it, at least in Undertale, its probably something inherit to magical combat, like an spell that limits the area of movement.
>ralsei, on the other hand, is fully aware of the soul's purpose and explains it during the start of the game. even if he's pretending to dodge or not
Well, yeah, I know Ralsei is more meta aware of how things work, but is it the same for all darkners? When they "target" Susie and Ralsei all they do is put that message of over their heads and still only attack Kris's soul? Susie is either really dumb or she sees the battle different from us if she can't tell none of those attacks are actually targeting her (despite still taking damage from them)
>>
>>4070963
i agree, it would take the powerful entity. Or quite a weak victim. We did Asriel do it to the monsters in the Underground.
>>4070965
Asriel did it the population of the underground. Its theoretically possible that something sufficiently strong could do it to a human, but that thing would need to be very strong.
>>
>>4071018
>We did Asriel do it to the monsters in the Underground.
that's a good point, I hadn't considered the monster souls in this case but well, it's the perfect example.
>>
>>4070976
>but so far those have been exclusive to the weird route.
It doing that in the weird route would imply that the soul is always leaving his body when the UI is involved, but it simply doesn't exploit it.

> I have no idea how that would work in either interpretation of the soul mechanics.
Meta stuff is a bit like 4th dimensional space. Its an axis in which things exist, but no one can perceive it. So while most characters can't see that the soul exists in both states at the same time, someone who's meta aware can, and can attack the soul in places that would normally be imperceptable and inaccessible

Antag/anon modfag Devlog #02

I have in the end decided to leave some traces of homo on Noelle for the sake of a more "lore accurate" depiction of Noelle, but fear not, the attraction disappears quickly.
What will remain after that is just, let's just call them "involuntary reactions", but Noelles judgement, behaviour and priorities will no longer be clouded the moment Susie enters in any scene, turning into a drooling retard.
Later on in the story I will make it so that she will even be ashamed a bit that she liked Susie in the first place.
In short, trust the process, in the grand scheme of things, nothing has changed.

Someone mentioned that I could perhaps embrace FemKris but even if I would somehow decided to do that, I would have to retcon Chapter 0 and make some adaptations which I really don't want to, there's also the fact that I set up some expectations for what I'm going to do already that I don't want to "subvert" as Tobert would attempt to.
Not in a bad way at least.

I have also started work on the battle system and the first tests with Noelle as a party member are successful, this went fast because I adapted existing Chapter 2 code so I didn't really have to reinvent the wheel in regards to that.
Next thing is going to be to further improve and adapt this to my needs for Chapter 1.

Another thing I haven't mentioned yet is that I want to expand the equipment a bit and implement some new fusions.
I will try to aim for the Heirloom type equipment that you upgrade over and over instead of replacing the equipment as it is each chapter you find a new sword with +1 ATK.

One last thing, I underestimated(once again) the undertaking of making a mod of the scale I aim for, especially when it comes to an autistic Tobert Foxtrot game.
I expect that the project is going to be in development hell for a while because I have to figure out what I want for the story and also how I am going to do it while maintaining the plausibility.
>>

this reminds me of a conversation a while back about lesbian characters. or maybe it was pretty recent.
A lesbian or bisexual woman character isn't some objective evil right? It's just something that's been done so heavy handedly with poor writing that some have grown sick of it. I'm not saying to undo what you want to do but just, thinking about it. if it's your vision to change her feelings then follow your vision, but don't feel like you need to do it simply out of reaction for how people (perhaps justifiably) feel about suselle.

I'm neither of the anons from that conversation but removing Noelle's atraction towards Susie feels like changing the character too much, I think the idea of Noelle finding out that she was atracted to her imaginary version of Susie instead of the real one is much better, and adds more to her character as well.

Anon, its a general that exists for the sole purpose of Kriselle posting.
>>
>>4071618
I know, but its not like Noelle showing interest in someone else before "dating" Kris should be seen as a problem.
>>
>>4071624
I think why it would be a problem would be self evident. Of course your romantic interest showing interest in someone else would be threatening, especially when it comes with the baggage of canon Suselle and the nightmare it is.

I'm not even saying he can't feature Noelle having an interest in Susie. I'm just saying that the baggage it brings and the emotional weight it has with his target audience is something he needs to keep in mind.

Being a successful writer means understanding the needs and wants of your audience, both so you can balance them with your own, and so you can leverage those needs and wants to tell a compelling story.
>>
>>4071628
>Of course your romantic interest showing interest in someone else would be threatening, especially when it comes with the baggage of canon Suselle and the nightmare it is.
Yeah, but this is a mod that exists to make the target audience's prefered pair canon, everyone playing it should know Suselle won't be a thing in the mod and that is only there to keep Noelle's character more consistent, I don't expect him to add any scene baiting for Suselle in the mod.

>Yeah, but this is a mod that exists to make the target audience's prefered pair canon,
The mod seeming to feature Suselle would countermand that notion and give the player mixed signals. That kind of thing is going to play with the player's emotions. Now there's nothing inherently wrong with playing with the player's emotions, it can be a very powerful technique when used properly. But it is something you have to be aware of in order to use properly.

I don't think Noelle showing infatuation towards Susie is the same thing as this and I ultimately do agree it should be kept for character reasons. I've read enough romance to know why people are skittish about this kind of stuff. It tends to lead to a lot of padding and pseudo-ntr type stuff more often than not. I don't believe Doeanon would do this, but some skittishness is warranted imo

I tried to keep my communications open when it comes to more delicate stuff for exactly this reason and if you manage to formulate it well or set the things straight, i'm pretty sure in the end people will agree with you.
>>
>>4071636
>The mod seeming to feature Suselle would countermand that notion and give the player mixed signals.
The thing is that they should know from the start that Suselle won't be a thing in the mod, making a mod about one ship and the featuring a different one in game would be counterintuitive.
>That kind of thing is going to play with the player's emotions. Now there's nothing inherently wrong with playing with the player's emotions, it can be a very powerful technique when used properly. But it is something you have to be aware of in order to use properly.
I know playing with the player's emotions is a dangerous game, but in this case the players should have the safety of knowing that they are playing a mod specifically made to cater to their ship.

>Any affection Noelle shows towards Susie is inherently Suselle bait.
I meant adding new scenes on top of the ones that are already in Deltarune.

Make it clear that Susie isn't into Noelle either, she just sees her as a friend, that should be enough to avoid (most) of the NTR implications
>>

I take a "the proof is in the pudding" stance regarding communication with the audience. What you say in through game speaks louder than anything you say outside of it, and anything said outside of it can easily be ignored or drowned out.
>>
>>4071647
Once again i'm not saying it'll actually go that way at all, i'm just explaining the context of *why* people might be skittish about it, in my perspective from being completely brainrotted by romance. >The thing is that they should know from the start that Suselle won't be a thing in the mod, making a mod about one ship and the featuring a different one in game would be counterintuitive.
And that would only make the contents of the mod seeming to disagree with that notion even worse. It could that the mod author is lying, either to the players, or to himself. Or that the mod is lazy with it rewrites and is only doing the bare minimum. Or maybe that its setting up some love triangle and relationship drama, which while not itself a bad thing, its not the kind of thing you would want people thinking is there if you aren't actually going to include any.

>I meant adding new scenes on top of the ones that are already in Deltarune.
Even the old ones from the main game would count just as much. Its all part of the experience of the mod.
>>
>>4071652
But then he wouldn't be an original Starwalker though. He would be a derivative Starwalker.

I would buy if the tropical Starwalker is, with it being weather themed
>>
>>4071654
He's not the... original. He's mini starwalker.

I wonder if Starwalker was a joke about dev graphics. Since he's put in the same room as that Starwalker bird and calls himself the original.
>>
>>4071653
>Or maybe that its setting up some love triangle and relationship drama, which while not itself a bad thing, its not the kind of thing you would want people thinking is there if you aren't actually going to include any.
Alright that's a fair point, but I believe those assumptions could be dismantled quickly by making clear what Susie thinks of Noelle early in the story, instead of leaving the possibility in the air.

>Even the old ones from the main game would count just as much. Its all part of the experience of the mod.
At that point that would be a problem with the audience, I dislike Suselle but I don't think every trace of it should be removed from Deltarune in this mod, because Noelle liking Susie is a big part of her character, whether we like it or not, removing that almost feels like giving the character a lobotomy.
>>
>>4071655
>He's not the... original
Fraudwalker exposed
>A joke about dev graphics
It definitely is, as I remember there was shown concept art for that, with him looking exactly like in-game
>>
>>4071661
The lobotomy would be allowing Suselle to go as far as it did in the main game even on the Weird Route which is more Kriselle adjented.
>>
I wonder how the kriselle mod's gonna deal with the schizodoe stuff. You kind of have to make a call on how much you assume that stuff is there in non weird route contexts. We do know it is, but like do you just completely ignore it and go "yeah bro Kris fixes her" or what
>>
>>4071664
Don't get me wrong, Suselle does suck because of how it drains all personality from Noelle whenever she shares screen with Susie, but I still think you shouldn't delete a character relationship just like that when its so strong in the original material.
>>
>>4071662
>It definitely is, as I remember there was shown concept art for that, with him looking exactly like in-game
That could just as easily mean that he was intended to be a The...Original from the start. I was suggesting that Toby drew this rough dev sprite, and liked it so much that he worked it into the final game.
>>
>>4071661
>but I believe those assumptions could be dismantled quickly by making clear what Susie thinks of Noelle early in the story, instead of leaving the possibility in the air.
And that's why its important to be aware of this stuff and how it could be read.

>At that point that would be a problem with the audience
>removing that almost feels like giving the character a lobotomy.
I'm not saying it should be removed. I'm just saying you should be aware of how it could be read while writing.
>>
>>4071670
>when its so strong in the original
But it uses its power for evil. It can't be trusted with that kind of power. Anon, its us or them. We have neutralize suselle, for the greater good.
>>
>>4071678
Agressive spitefiction that leaks into the work itself tends to lose me. Making something OUT of spite is one thing, but having it constantly leak into the stuff kind of taints the work. I don't like Suselle but agressively spiting it wouldn't sit right with me either. It feels like i'm being nakedly pandered to as opposed to this being a natural story with characters
>>
>>4071667
I don't know what he'll do, but I'd like him to keep Noelle as a barely contained freak, and have her weirdness bounce of Kris's equally mentally unwell state. Kris and Noelle are both freaks, which is why they're perfect for each other.
>>
>>4071680
I'm sorry anon, but its self defense. We have to heteroslide Noelle.
>>
>>4071681
It's such a hard balance to strike because so far we really only have the extremes of full containment and the schziophrenia being forcibly fucked with until it breaches containment. Noelle has it locked down so much that having it leak naturally is something that would be interesting to be seen. I don't want it to go full on angst because we have honestly way too fucking much of that but exploring that side of her without going full weird route is gonna be difficult
>>
>>4071678
That power can be used for good, you can give Noelle a character arc about not projecting her wants on Susie, removing it all together only gives us a blander story and rewrites Noelle too much for no apparent reason.
>>
>>4071685
I do think there's something there if you want to lean into the manipulative side she could be implied to have in the lake scene, what with the "you cant even tell me to stop like you used to" stuff It'd make Noelle look a bit worse but given the kind of stuff Kris is up to that's basically just normal
>>
>>4071685
Anon, I'm shitposting. Obviously there are tactful ways to handle Noelle's feelings for Susie.
>>
>>4071690
It's hard to tell some times because people will say stuff like that without a shred of irony

filler chapters

Is making a thread in the topic of discussion this week?
>>
>>4072004
you can make a thread if you want
>>
>>4072004
it always is
>>
>>4072007
>>4072008
It seems there's less anons willing to make a thread these days, especially when I had to go out of my way to ask.

that's been a thing for a while. the fact that you asked instead of simply making a thread is indicative of the "problem".
A large number of the threads in the last 6 or so months have been made by me (thank you as well to the other anons who took part in making threads), but my saturdays aren't mine most of the time lately.
Most of the time I have to make them back to back until we are allowed to have a single rule abiding, on topic thread but I'm attempting to relax some before I get to my usual saturday obligations right now.
>>

its a bit early in the day anyways

ah yeah it is fairly early isn't it. I'll check and see if anyone's bothered to make a thread a bit later today when I get a moment in between everything, but I'm trying to calm myself a bit for now and haven't been keeping track of the thread today much.
>>
>>4072035
Not at all, in fact we used to have threads way earlier. You know, before jannies went after them en masse.
Also, it's been around an hour and a half since that one anon mentioned making a thread. Is any other anon going to step up, or will we have to wait for that anon again?
>>
>>4072097
I could make a thread in maybe 30 minutes to an hour

the problem is the deletions and bans.

THE THREAD OF FANGAMES
CLEAVED RED BY BLADE
>>
I don't even care if that guy isn't here to read it, I'm posting this here since the other thread got deleted.

>>>/v/746469214
Why can't I? What's contradictory there? I make one thing, then I make another. Sometimes I want to write about victorian lemurs being drawn into a proxy war with the space commies, and sometimes I want to write a story about an Imperial captain from Star Wars bumbling his way into becoming a warlord. Doing one doesn't mean I suddenly can't do the other.
>>
Well, thanks to the anon that made thread, there was some good discussion mixed in there
>>
>>4072141
Its an Undertale fangame in everything but name. Its on topic.
>>
was going to reply to >>>/v/746469214 but the thread died,
I actually paused my original ideas to focus on my fangame because I enjoy working on it and I get fanart in return, so it's win-win for me
will I get money for it? no, but what matters is I'm enjoying myself and getting more familiar with how game coding, management and writing work, so that when I go back to my original stuff I can make it better
>>
>>4072156
That's still fangame discussion.
>>
>>4072159
I just wasn't in the mood to make one earlier. By the time I actually felt like talking about fangames, there was already a thread.
>>
Im thinking of a wording, because theres no reason 20 gta threads are ok but on topic video game threads are not for some reason.
>>
>>4072171

>>4072249
If we were making a regular DR thread, I'd say to use that image of the Shit Squad drawn in the style of a San Andreas loading screen (which I just realized I no longer have, please post it if you do) to be silly. But we don't have and DRY GTA images. Maybe that MP4 of the Roba San Andreas mod.
>>
Was gonna post this to /v/ but the thread there was removed. Might as well just post it back here.
Recently I went back and played DRY Chapter 2. I've decided to write another review months after my first because there were several things besides writing that I wanted to critique, and in the months since the most recent update has yet to address. Didn't play Chapter 1 for this, but many of my critiques can be applied there too.
>Right from the title screen, opening the save slot before the screen fades out freezes it mid-frame
>For some reason the default audio is unusually quiet. I checked, and it's set at 30 percent, when most fangames tend to set it higher.
>Opening the pause menu freezes Cole's walking animation, which looks awkward.
>So the menu font is still messed up. It still looks squished when the other fonts (including dialogue) clearly look different despite using a similar font.
>Cole still has his walk animation after colliding with a wall. He also slides across walls when holding the arrow keys.
>Maybe I'm not accounting for something, but the walk speed in this game is noticeably really slow. Running diagonally is also slower than running in other directions before speeding up.
>Camera jitter. I don't know it it has to do with my PC specs, but everyone's sprite jitters while running, and this is VERY noticeable in the Light World where there's no run animation.
>Camera movement during cutscenes is extremely slow, which just pads out time.
>Dialogue in the small font (off to the side of the box) uses the engine's default font instead of Deltarune's.
>There's STILL no support for enter/shift/ctrl as alt keys, despite most fangames (and Undertale itself) already supporting them.
>Is it just me, or are room transitions a bit longer than needed? UTY had near instant transitions between fades, but here there seems to be a short gap between.
>>
>>4072249
The GTA threads are there because rockstar is paying the people running /v/, you shouldn't use them as an example of an acceptable format.
>>
>>4072255
>>Dialogue in the small font (off to the side of the box) uses the engine's default font instead of Deltarune's.
that actually uses dotumche pixel which is the font using for battle dialogues but I've changed it to use the regular DT font
>>There's STILL no support for enter/shift/ctrl as alt keys, despite most fangames (and Undertale itself) already supporting them.
will look into it
>>Is it just me, or are room transitions a bit longer than needed?
the rooms preload a lot of audio tracks that are used in cutscenes so the game doesnt stutter mid cutscene instead, on slower drives that leads to longer load times
I'll check out the rest of the things later, although I don't know if I can fix the camera issues, already tried multiple methods but it seems to be either an issue with godot or requires me to rewrite nearly everything which I won't do. if you were playing on 30 FPS mode then camera movement was broken but it should be fixed in the latest patch
>>
>>4072254
There's one image of Cole drawn like RDR2 cover art, that should be close enough
>>
>>4072255
>>Cole still has his walk animation after colliding with a wall. He also slides across walls when holding the arrow keys.
This is more of a personal preference thing. Personally I like that.

>Camera jitter. I don't know it it has to do with my PC specs, but everyone's sprite jitters while running, and this is VERY noticeable in the Light World where there's no run animation.
You playing in 30FPS mode? It can cause stuff like that.
>>
>>4072259
that has the name in bold letters in the image. It would be too easily identifiable.
>>
>>4072255
(cont.)
>First Axis fight takes too long to spare for being the first encounter in Chapter 2.
>Light puzzle in the archives is still BS. Pretty sure it's mandatory, too. Ended up just looking up the code in a playthrough (even the playthrough skipped this puzzle).
>Some enemies that chase after you just reset their position after they stop. Feels a bit sudden and unnatural.
>Letting bubbles leave the screen for even a split second causes them to vanish. This gets especially annoying during puzzles where you're switching between Cole and Kanako.
>Also, you can still flip switches after solving the puzzle.
>There's a glitch where using the inn (in Robotopia) causes the game to softlock, leaving it stuck on a black screen. I don't know what causes this.
>Trying to get the secret boss key after capturing Ms. Syrup still seems cryptic, and most players won't backtrack to speak with her anyways. Actually, there's an NPC that appears if you return, but I'd rather have it appear immediately than having to backtrack.
>>
>>4072261

>>
>>4072263
in defense of the mirror puzzle, it has multiple solutions including one that doesn't require you to enter the left side of the room at all
the enemy reset thing I might tweak since it does feel jarring
for the bubbles I guess I could add a grace period when they go offscreen before they despawn instead of it happening instantly
never heard of the inn lock, would need more info on how to reproduce it

>>4072270
she doesn't have a unique boss in game yet, although someone had composed one which I might add next update, if you want to she could have a shop but just remember the pitch will lower after her fight

Damn, Jannies are still sniping DR threads it seems. Had one get deleted as I was browsing it for pics. /v/idya really is verboten holy.
>>

The moderation team purges any game from /v/ that gets too popular unless its dev/publisher pays them to keep it there. See Palworld for the most obvious recent example.
Had Tobias forked over some cash, having a 24/7 general on /v/ would suddenly be completely fine.
>>
>>4072590
What if Tobias is the one who payed to delete them for being chuddie?
>>
>>4072592
That's stupid and nobody is dumb enough to believe that. There are IRC logs of the jannies/mods whining about the game not being a cultural phenomena.
Not to mention years of failed ops to try and get people to hate the game in conspicuously the only threads about the game allowed to be on /v/.
>>
>>4072592
As simultaneously hilarious and petty of him as that would be, occam's razor says no - 4chan's moderation team already has enough reasons to do this on their own.
>>
>>4072596
That was a joke and I don't think anybody is paying to have their threads stay up either. I think the reason these threads are targeted for deletion is because they are recieved as being "on an opposite side of culture war", and not some grand conspiracy to quell originality and to forbid anything other then "cultural phenomenon"s
>>
>>4072602
Dude if you're gonna whine that ha ha it was just a joke you weren't serious. Don't immediately run damage control and whine that nobody pays for thread coverage on /v/.
If you're going to try to do this don't suck at it it's boring.
>>
>>4072602
I mean we know that the whole 'cultural phenomenon" excuse has been used. I forget which major mod but that was a whole thing with the smash brothers spam (I think it was smash) that was on record from the IRC a ways back.
>>
>>4072604
It was not me running damage control, I thought you also weren't serious about saying that cunning corporations are paying to genoslide video game discussion, so I simply clarified what I meant, since you understood it as being genuine.

I have not seen where I "whined", but you seem emotionally charged and I would rather not continue this conversation.
>>
>>4072605
Unless actual receipts or conversation screenshots start getting posted, I will not believe that anybody is paying mods for threads.

Especially when a much simpler explanation have already been mentioned. Don't assume malice for something that can be adequately explained by stupidity
>>
>>4072616
alright well, I'm not really worried about if you believe it or not. I just know that many threads of rule breaking are allowed while many threads of not rule breaking are deleted. I attribute that to both malice and incompetence, because we've seen what the moral character of these people are like.
The site probably gets paid by big companies because honestly it makes sense, it's probably the cheapest ad revenue because despite how 'dead" the site is, 4chan is still viewed by a lot of impressionable people.
anyways this was brought up because DR threads were brought up, and ultimately they aren't the same threads as our threads.

This, he did it to punish Yellow fans.

It's ironic because the same excuse is used by the DR thread haters, who talk about how those threads are all astroturfed and are paid by "globohomo, mossad and Foxington himself".

How do you seriously expect a marketing department of a company to justify it to its superiors? Especially on a boogeyman as a hacker known as four chan. You are vastly overestimating 4chan's importance and it's not like DR threads even hurt the "cultural phenomenon" threads in any capacity. It also doesn't explain the existence of AI slop and political threads. This is just ridiculous, but keep believing in it, if it makes you feel better.

never seen that, that's silly, I'm not entertaining this any further.

Janny's personal hatred of DR aside, this sounds like something a stealth marketer would say.

OC made on this website does frequently get reposted on the outside shitholes. Most of these reposts are a fart in the wind, but some do get a moderate (by those websites' standard) amount of views/comments/likes/reposts/whatever.
So you're basically paying to give a bunch of stupid loser nerds a "comfortable" room to make you marketing material for free that will reap benefits elsewhere.
