I've had limited experience with JRPGs: Final Fantasy series (V, VI, VII... X was my favorite), a Dragon Quest title or two (early games, 2 and 3 I think?) and some of the staple SNES titles like Chrono Trigger. Beyond that, I haven't exploredI'm looking for recommendations for a JRPG that I can put a lot of hours into (so side quests/endgame content/optional bosses) that's pretty straightforward and still "beginner" friendly for someone not totally familiar with or otherwise burned out on the genreIt doesn't have to be a recent title, though I'd prefer nothing earlier than say 1999 or so, just because I'm in the mood for something modernish. Turn based combat is my preference.
