OG Starflight was made for DOS PC. Genesis version is a port.

while i hate the Genesis port for having a Endurium bug which i didn't know until i played the OG, the Genesis' manual is impressive and thick to the max and squeezed into the Genesis cart box.it contained a whole walkthrough in there, written in the form of a time-travelling fanfiction. a timetravel plot which they probably reused for the plot in SF2. /lit/ adaptation never. It's pretty great. I'm not sure it qualifies as sandbox being as how it has a timed, overarching narrative but ok.

Mining in this game is incredibly satisfying, I would love a modern game to provide a modern equivalent.
