Was really considering buying this but an open world plus time limits is a no-go for me. Choose strategic time management or an large open world with lots of stuff to do, not both. Maybe I'll get it second hand in a year or something

Overall it is a solid enough title. Creatively, it is a mix of KCD, M&B, Witcher 3 specifically, with elements from VtM and Ubisoft titles. OST is atmospherically good, and there are a few tracks that stand out. It does also have some LEILEILEI as well, but the ost is not quite as strong as some other shills are saying it is. Combat is a dumbed down directional system(KCD, M&B) with hack and slash elements. Enemies are very spongy despite the fact that I was an end game character with legendary gear. This is a lootathon whore game as well, with tiered loot rarity. The open world is structured in a semi ubisoft/witcher 3 style, but most of the question marks were relatively interesting. Even enemy camps at least had books you use to unlock skills(similar to elden ring), and they also had some lore that would reveal some info on the big 4 vamps. The story is open-ended, and that works both for this game and against it. I'd compare it to how KOTOR 1 and 2 did it. Multiple different arcs that surprisingly tie in together well to explain the setting and provide insight into the characters. Narratively speaking though, the story is not very strong, you will have to find enjoyment in doing "mini arcs" that eventually tie in. Like the other anons said, the game definitely is pozzed. Many modern colloquialisms(MC says nightmare fuel, really?) Bantu nigger in epilogue, a major character who was a nun talking about how jews and muslims are discriminated upon, alot of church bad as well, gay romance, attempts at highlighting the diversity of Vale Sangora, jewish quarter in main city, etc.

It's not a bad game overall, but it feels very derivative, but that is also a strength in its own way. I wish the vampire world was explored more, you barely get any information and you have to beg the characters to feed you minuscule crumbs. I wish that the game explored Coen's duality as a dawnwalker more, and his psychology (besides the wizard tower quest.)
>>
holy fuck i've turned into a complete boomer shitter. i CANNOT be fucked to check the directional arrows on the attack prompts. they are unironically too small and hard to notice for me. my finger just hits a random directional button to counter before my eyes even focus on the icon. gonna have to lower the difficulty, i do not see myself adapting to this.

I'm enjoying it a lot, honestly the time limit is a plus for me because it stops me doing boring shit out of completionism. All the real quests I've been doing have been great and I like that dialogue options do matter and can solve things non-violently.
>>
>>4082126
>>protect the jews
I normally don't give a shit about these sorts of things but I mean it is kinda weird how this is the second high profile action RPG from eastern europe with the exact same quest(they're probably pretty different but I never played either KCD I just heard the second one had a hamfisted protect the jews quest too).
>>
>>4085420
Yeah, fair doesn't give you much reaction time. Story is far more forgiving, but still not fall-down easy as one would expect given the name. It feels more like an "easy" than "near impossible to lose."
>>
>>4084406
Yes, I completed it today, on hardest difficulty, I didnยดt play with directional attacks showing or anything. The ingame timer says it took a little over 26 hours to complete, steam says 51 hours, but Steam includes me having the game on pause. Is the 26 hours of playtime worth 70 dollars? Not really, the game does offer replay, perhaps the game that offers it the most of any game Iยดve ever played. I know for a fact that I can go in and do another playthrough and get a completely different experience, go to places Iยดve never been, do a character build I havenยดt done before, use weapons I didnยดt use and while I might fight the same 4 major bosses, I can fight them in different places under different conditions. The problem is, I donยดt think I will, so weยดre back at 70 dollars for a rpg that took 26 hours to complete.
Too few dungeon crawlers, although the dungeons I did try were good. Too much cringe dialogue and time spent pressing buttons to move the game forward without playing it.
I went full blood addict, I gave in to the hunger about 90% of the time. I even killed Anca, the love interest. The game does allow you to play as a murder hobo, but does it allow you to murder the Jews? I didnยดt do the quest, so I donยดt know, I tried to find my way into the house of some Jews talking, but I couldnยดt get in, nothing unusual about that, but the game really stands and falls with whether or not you can kill the Jews. I killed a priest doing secret sermons and I killed the Christian followers, slaughtered every one of them and drank their blood, can I do the same if I do the Jewish quest?!
I was completely overpowered as vampire in the end game, I only upgraded my vampire skills, the neutral abilities in swordmastery like stamina etc. and skipped witchcraft. When I fought the final boss I was immortal, not only was my passive regeneration off the charts, some skill allows me to regenerate with blocking. I couldnยดt die, so that needs calibration.
>>
>>4086408
No problem anon. Get it on deep sale, or give it a pirate. Not worth 70 bucks at all though. They rushed the game out so they would not compete with GTA 6 is my bet.
>>4087846
26 hours sounds about right. I finished at 27 hours, and I did everything besides the time waster shrine, arenas, and chests. Some of the dungeons were okay I suppose, and I liked the whole ancients subplot, but that got really boring after a while, since the answer is always blood magic in the mysteries.
>Too much cringe dialogue and time spent pressing buttons to move the game forward without playing it.
Yep, classic witcher 3 walk for 10 hours and inspect while using your eagle vision. I don't know what retard wanted this.
>does it allow you to murder the Jews?
You get the option to drain the jew if you do Vicho's mission if I recall. Also, I think most NPCs are killable, even major story ones.

>make a game where the hero's tool kid makes him overwhelmingly stronger than everyone else, even to the point where you have to intentionally throw the prologue just to not beat brencis
>make one of the primary themes whether the end justifies the means
it just doesn't work for me, everything about the rebels and making compromises, why would coen ever let sara get killed because the city guard is on their heels? just kill the knyaz entire army, there's no urgency. why would vladimir feel such a rush to take action? coen is guaranteed to fix this when he finds it convenient. why would coen take the fond of life from his old hag girlfriend? he doesn't need it at all. why are you worried about your thirst? you've not once dropped to the last health block
>>
>>4094077
did you play on story difficulty or something?
>>
just finished the prologue. good lesson on how the time limit works but i was slightly miffed at a couple of things

1) being dragged into a time wasting quest for something petty that added nothing (that dumb kid with the drunkard father who was taunting you). i was following the trail of the graverobber with the batman detective vision, then this yellow figure pops up in front of me and starts running, i thought that was the graverobber and started chasing him. prevented me from doing some other stuff i would have rather done. maybe there's some payoff later idk.

2) also didn't like the fact that i did the lost brother quest last, wasted the time but the game drags you into the end of the chapter as you exit the cave he was in, without giving you a chance to report your findings and complete the quest so it was marked as failed. so basically you're told you have another unit of time but you don't, not really. or maybe you would have, if you had done another quest that gets completed on the spot, instead of having to go back to the quest giver, who knows. at least there was some decent loot and lore.

overall it's just the prologue and i'm having fun but this annoyed me a bit. but like i said, at least it was a lesson on how the time limit works.
>>
>>4094077
In the game the player experiences he always fights characters 1v1
But in reality theyd fight him as a group.
>>
>>4096317
When you have one pip left until night you absolutely have no time left to complete any quest, Coen outright says as much when you get that far. Best to either spend that on a level-up or guy home and wait for the ceremony.
>>
>>4096691
really? i also figured the best use for those time slots would be a level up in the future, but i assumed that, for example, if i had opted for training with coen's dad instead of the lost brother quest, i'd have been able to complete it with no problem, since it starts and ends at the same place.
>>
When do I get to go scorched earth? I fucking hate this village and feel like going Itachi Uchiha already
>>
Also how useful is money in this game? I hear there's an exploit with killing a merchant and infinite looting him. Seems a small price to have a more fun time
>>
>>4097601
The loot scales up to you when you get it, and upgrading it costs money since there isnt any other money sinks.
So do quest at level 35, get lvl 35 loot. Do it at 40 get lvl 40 loot. If you want to upgrade a legendary armor set/weapon from 35 to 40 it'll cost like 20k coins which incentivizes getting the best gear later

Just omniblock. Don't try to directional block the dogs. They can't parry themselves, so when you block, you're free to chain a bunch of attacks up while they slowly queue up their next one.

Finished Today with the Lacra Quest, great game.
>>
>Go around the map finding rare stuff and treasure
>Mess around with a lot of quests but don't mess with any of the vampires operations too much
>Few days left. None of them are dead
>Can either solo or go with Lacra

I picked going solo through the backdoor of the castle at the start of a new day. I had all my points into sword skills and vamparism...no magic. Killed all of them as a human with Mihai's sword. Felt like a badass realizing what I just did. Great game. Will play again.
>>
>Reaching end of prologue
>Have to turn down a few quests

No... not like this
>>
I finished this last night. I don't do number ratings but if I had to describe it I think everything is kinda good but nothing really outstanding. It does the skyrim thing where the combat is challenging at first but starts to get repetitive and extremely easy over time, although I had the arrow blocking and second hardest difficulty so I could have made it a little harder. Killing enemies is satisfying and I like the feel and animations but killing animals is not fun but I mostly ran away from them. I liked that you got different approaches you could take for an ending though I don't know how much they really differ in the end, it looks like they are going for the choices carry over thing so they will probably sweep some things under the rug, its a shame because Lacra was interesting but because I think her stuff is optional she'll probably get a smaller role.

There were some bugs but nothing game breaking or too annoying, there are performance issues in some areas occasionally.

Story has some cool parts, some parts feel a bit generic or lacking, overall it feels like a less fleshed out and interesting vampire the masquerade but what can you do when they raped that franchise so I'm interested to see what they do with this

doubt it, every sidequest practically screams for your attention with the way they're positioned and brought to your attention. it's probably going to lead to people relying on guides to min-max the content they get in the time limit that's allotted. it's kind of what happened with fallout.
still, it's worth mentioning that many are at least realizing that there's no point in doing the vapid openworldisms like camps and shit, unless they're related to a story quest
>>
>>4095175

I really enjoyed the writing. The characters feel rooted and flawed. Only place I thought it fell through was Brencis himself, whose motivations are pretty 1-note all told. Regardless, first half of the game was ok, it kind of felt like a low-budget Witcher retread. Past day 15 narrative threads started converging in neat ways and the time constraint pushed me to prioritize in ways I otherwise wouldn't.
>>
>>4104585
Yes, really. In most melee action games it's possible to play a no-damage run, some even have an optional difficulty where one hit will kill you to enforce that.

I had 11 days left after obtaining the best gear, killing the boyars and unlocking all ending routes, and I still think it's a shit system.
Since quests take up a varying amount of time and most quests are day / night exclusive, you feel like you're forced to play tetris with the quests instead of just going after the quest chain that you're currently trying to solve.
Plus there's a lot of unexplained or unexpected time skips.

To me it didn't create a sense of urgency, it was just an annoyance.

"maybe humans are the real monsters?" type shit
muh mental health gets brought up too much
church is bad and the game won't shut the fuck up about it, it gets brought up in the fucking epilogue twice
the gay romance route is optional as the woke apologists are no doubt in a hurry to inform you but even if you pretend it's not there and deliberately avoid being nice to Crank the gay foreshadowing is enough to make you retch
Jews very very good and very moral

pet peeve and not really woke but visually the game borrows a lot from medieval Transylvania and yet it pretends Hungarians don't exist
worst example is when you enter the very Catholic cathedral looking church and approach the very Franciscan monk looking head priest and he has a modern Romanian name

he and his court rule from Tenochtitlan, every year tens of thousands of mesoamerican people are brutally sacrificed to appease their bottomless Hunger and the Aztec Emperor is merely the leader of their Blood Cult responsible for ensuring the blood keeps flowing

One thing that kept bothering me throughout the game is that how Brencis turning Coen makes less and less sense the more you learn. It seems every supernatural and their mother knows what a Dawnwalker is, and near instantly identifies Coen as one, except for Brencis, who looked him in the eyes and even drank his blood. So I kept waiting for some Legacy of Kain twist where it turns out that Brencis was specifically trying for a Dawnwalker in some gamble and the I CONDEMN YOU TO THE SUN was just an act, because there's no fucking way that this 1000+ year old vampire who made researching the supernatural would make a mistake this implausible, right? Based on everything you learn about him it simply makes no sense.
And then you talk to him in Anachora and he just goes

i'd hate to partially agree with a twitter (or maybe /his/, who the fuck else cares about yamnaya and corded ware culture and shit like that) schizo but i have to admit, for a couple of hours, until it was revealed that the vampire blood donation tithe collection ceremony was basically a humiliation ritual, i was like "but what's the big deal".
if vampire blood gives you immunity to disease, coen's mum most likely didn't have anemia or some shit like that, it was the psychological aspect of suffering through a humiliation ritual under a blood orgy flag that was getting to her.
coen's dad and the other rebels are seemingly motivated by true christian faith, which many people at the time possessed, but with the massive hit christianity's reputation has taken in recent decades, i, as the player, found it understandable but much less compelling.

>oh you mean that black guy? That doesn't count!
>>
>>4110882
It's just some random agent of Mystery Niggas International dropping by then fucking off. He even explicitly says that he is from Africa and not a local.
>>
>>4110886
Oh thank god. He was African. That changes everything.

Brencis traveled to Egypt, among other things. Isbrand went to America. Immortals have all the time in the world to travel, and this one wouldn't even have come here if he weren't sent by the glowie council.
>>
>>4110809
Brencis is a liar who spreads propaganda about how benevolent his rule is. You have people getting killed if they're too weak, all those draining dungeons, Bakir raping men and women alike, you eventually learn that Brencis is preparing to perform a ritual that will kill everyone in the valley.
>>
Prayed for about three weeks at a shrine to get the bad ending. Holy fucking shit what a letdown.
>>4110921
Was that ever confirmed? It's hard to tell what the ritual is supposed to do considering he never finishes it no matter how long you take.

I played it on the Steam Machine so yes. If it's any help for this hardware the game set itself to Medium everything after the benchmark.

the writing fucking sucks and coen is such a little bitch for no reason and there is something deeply wrong with the epilogues theme or writing but i dont know what it is
>>
>>4113131
and main baddy vampires dont show up at all a tonne of lost potential
>>
>>4098662
too bad coen never acts like a badass always bitching out and having emotional breakdowns instead of righteous fury (which is foreshadowed when he first finds out he becomes a vampire at night)
>>
>>4097595
dont bother coen wont stop being a goody too shoes whenever he speaks outside of a dialogue choice
>>
I struggled to see good parts of the game so it's astonishing someone liked it.
Do you like fantasy? Wolf's, boars and bears. And the real MoNsTeRs - humans. There are so few fantasy creatures.
Time restriction is a joke. Ended without having to worry about it. (Go and see what happens if you run out of time). I don't give a fuck about that family, I don't know them. Maybe I played bad quests in prologue.
Nooo you can't use magic at night and vampire at day, stop having fun, play the way I want!
All epilogues are the same, endings bearly differ.
Combat is 1v1 gauntlet, it doesn't matter if you're fighting 1x10 or 10 enemies. I can't select what enemy to focus, target system just decides for you. I CAN'T LEAVE THE COMBAT BECAUSE IT KEEPS RETARGETING THEM (But somehow when you do want the combat enemies just get stopped on their leash). Stand in place and block-attack-block-attack, remember to dodge the "red attacks", no tactical approach, every enemy fights the same. Dust in eyes is best ability in the game, good job.
Most quests and characters are badly written.
Quests and openworld activities lumped together (I can't find anything in my "quest" log)
Random loot. Of course in school of magic I find books about sword combat and not magic (stop being lazy devs)
Sex in underpants. Holy cuck, we need based sex but also slap big boy underpants, can't model a dick.
Romance with woman was ok and they had usually better quests. After we're done with romance they are back to being mannequin NPCs. (I'm old Coen, remember? I'm 30. I'm old. I'm old)
Generally NPC's don't move much, they are mannequins.
Coen is born as a village bitch not knowing anything about the world. No matter how hard you try he will die as a bitch not knowing much. Seriously, most of the time when we zoom in and click through things to investigate we get: (It's a broom, for brooming/I don't know what that is.) We never learn anything useful from him, he know nothing about the world he is living in.

You can kill anyone. It never works out in games but sure.
Do choices matter? Sometimes, maybe... For example it doesn't matter what options do you pick when "breaking barrels".
Nooo you can't do that quest that you want to and is near and you got invested. It's day, you can't.
Travelsal as a human in this unreal engine environment tends to be retarded.
Walking on walls as a vampire is nerfed to make "puzzles"(?I don't know if they were hard for any double digit human?) but it takes away all fun from using it in the open world.
Beloved crafting-level-quality system.
Devs didn't know how to make a minimap, so they did a Skyrim compass.
Don't know how to end a dialogue? "I've said too much, you'll learn more at other time *never speak again*" or just drop a swear world. -See how based we are chuds?
DEI and referencing real world despite seemingly not happening in any real world place.
Open world - you can go there but wolfs have such a high level that combat will last 10 min.
There was no QA testing. Some quests have misleading information like "on top of the mountain" (it was not anywhere near the top) "find shovel" (it's the most bullshit find pixel location type)
Call me retarded but initially I thought some items could be used only at day or night.
Music gets repetitive.
And generally it feels like they have inferiority complex with Witcher. "Humans are monsters, am I rite?".

Over all it felt a lot like a linear game that tries to pretend it's not, like Telltale.
I could go on with needing to spend 1 point of ability to be able to travel fast in each form (2 in total). It doesn't matter that much but if developer takes away basic functionality to give it back as a skill (or 2) is cringe.

It's beyond me that someone may like the game. It this some delusion to explain to oneself the price? (Why it's so expensive?)
It's a bad game. I really struggled to list to myself good elements like slashing enemies to pieces or environment and character models are ok

Interesting, to me Planeshift was very obviously one of those things that scream last minute change. Much like all Haste upgrades were rendered effectively pointless when they removed fast travel time cost, because even basic Haste with Duelist stamina will get you from one shrine to the next in at most two casts, Planeshift has all these upgrades that save you stamina, except what the fuck is the point when you can just Shadowstep and it's not only faster, but also far more economic? Pretty sure Shadowstep was not originally supposed to work during Planeshift, because whenever there's a platforming section where you are expected to, Planeshift simply doesn't cost stamina, ergo it is treated like something different from regular Planeshift in code. But then at some point, probably right before release, they lifted this restriction so now you can Shadowstep anytime anywhere and Planeshift is a borderline redundant ability.

You are a stupid bitch with no grammar, the only valid point is that its too expensive for being a double A game but it being a double A game explains all the nitpicks. Its the first game by a brand new studio.

this is possibly the most pathetic way to defend a game i've ever seen. scary to think you're on the same site as me and at any point i could be reading a post written by the likes of you, without even knowing it.

stfu your nitpicks are not worth shit and yet you wrote 200 words across two posts you are an arrogant swine and you need to shut your boring hole
