I want to get into this series and am looking for the best console release of Ys I and II. This website https://digitalemelas.com/index_ys.php lists a PS Vita release of Ys I & II Chronicles +, but I can't find said release anywhere. Is the info wrong? Was it released digital only? As part of a collector's edition of another game maybe?
I have never seen a Vita release... but Vita doesn't have any exclusives either. Doesn't the Vita let you play PSP games?
why on steam are they bundled together? seems sus to me
The best early Ys is the PC Engine with the big ass hp bars and cd quality audio. Play those for ys 1-4. Starting with 5, console doesn’t really matter anymore
I was in your position last year, just finished ys 8 and went through the whole series up until then. They’re all good, 5 is scuffed but still playable
Ys Origin: side game in the Ys 6 engine. Great and must play, but don’t listen to autists who say you should play all routes. There’s almost nothing new thereYs Felghana: Ys 3 remake in the Ys 6 engine. OptionalYs Celceta: Ys 4 remake in the Ys 7 engine. Optional
Would also recommend playing Ys 7 on a strong emulator with heavy upscaling, polygon smoothing, and graphics boosts. Its 3D engine is very crunchy and kinda hurts to look at
>>4081388the guy who made that website is pretending that the psp doesn't exist, he lists every psp release under 'vita'
>>4081811I played the Steam editions and they're good. Oath in Felgdana is the best Ys game though.
>>4081811>why on steam are they bundled together?because the ending of 1 literally leads into the start of 2
>>4082194It’s kind of like dragon quest. Game 1 is too short to be sold on its own, and they finalized the formula in game 2
>>4081388I have been stuck on the bat guy for 27 years
>>4082494Dark Fact is even worse.
>>4081388Anyone else pronounce it as yiss?
how does xanadu next relate to these? it's by the same publisher looks ok always on sale for $5 should i or should i ys
should i start with ys origin or ys i + ii?
>>40826091+2. Origins story is neat but doesn’t really matter
>>4082606XN is a fun time. Definitely an easy recommendation.
>>4082494Grind a bit. Player level matters more in Ys than any other jrpg
>>4082609Start with I+II. Origin is a prequel to the events but it's more like it's referencing stuff from the first two games than anything. Plus it's fun to see how combat changes through the series.
>>4082641Don't bother. He spams the same shit every thread, look up the archives.
>>4082603I've always pronounced it as "Yes"I know it isn't correct and I still can't stop to this day.For example, I say "Yes One" or "Yes Two" or "Yes Origins"

>>4081918POOrigins is trash and not a real Ys gamefuck off
Playing Ys 1 on NES right now and the game is mostly braindead, but I'm in the final stretch of the game and this is easily the hardest game on the entire console. EVERY boss kills you in 2 hits no matter your level or equipment and they move around erratically and throws a hundred random projectiles at you and you have to walk into these fuckers to hurt them, but that also hurts you. I've spent roughly over an hour and up to two on every bossfight so far and can only beat them when I give up and find a speedrun video and just copy what they do. I think I fucking hate Ys1 holy shit is this game irredeemably bad.
>>4092476>no matter your level or equipmentUhh, those are extremely important.
>>4092476It really sucks, the game fails at giving you a sense of progression that feels good because the "bump system" is fundamentally a bad idea and makes the entire game shit. Actively trying to run into your enemy means if you are a few pixels off you are just standing in a hit box and your HP melts in less than a second. I've been stuck on Ys 1 for years I heard the rest of the series is good but I don't know if I'll ever get to play it since I have to beat Ys 1 first and I can't
>>4093066Anon it’s an easy 8 hour jrpg. “Get good” doesn’t even apply here
Just get better gear, and level up if a boss overpowers you. It’s literally that simple
