I'm mainly thinking that even stuff like FF7 could be bit much for too young people, since it has terrorism and identity crisis etc dark stuff in it. If you have a gamecube or emulator set up, Skies of Arcadia? It looks nice and has a fun, kid-friendly story for the most part. Also Paper Mario, Thousand Year Door or Super Paper Mario. Otherwise as another anon said, Tales of Symphonia. Abyss and Vesperia might be a bit too mature. Grandia 100%. Grandia 2 might be too adult. Legend of Legaia might be good but it also gets pretty dark. And Guardian's Crusade might lack too much story to be engaging.
