>>4092944terrible game imo. but somehow it's still alive?
>>4093033sorry did you mean to post that in the WoW thread
>>4093033I like the game, but yeah just how has it survived this long? Do people sub? Or pay for those passes?Back in the day they had those dragon amulet subscription thingys right?
>>4092944This was the game where if you were somehow too poor to pay for Runescape, you played this.
>>4093057>>4093330back in the day i paid the one-time $25 fee to be an x-guardian because i genuinely liked the gameit was kinda unique for having turn-based jrpg combat with mmo-style live-service events & dailiesand because it was a browser game i could play it at schooli have no idea what type of person would still be spending money on it in 2026 though

>>4093033>>4093057Adventure Quest and Dragonfable exist solely because Artix doesn't have a reason to end their support, they don't cost too much to maintain and they still make a little money because they have dedicated small communities so he leaves a skeleton crew to continue updating them. Epic Duel wasn't actually made by Artix Entertainment, they bought the already being developed IP and hired the developers to run it essentially. AQ3D was a somewhat unsuccessful attempt to move on from AQW, but never quite took off so it's in the same boat as Dragonfable of not being the main focus.AQW is the cash cow that the company runs on while the others are just smaller income streams. Furthermore recently AE did a kickstarter for a mobile/proper pc release of AQW that reached like 2 million dollars or something like that, so in essence they're surviving solely because of their community supporting them so much.
