I've been playing Borderlands lately. Just turning my brain off, forgetting about the real life and basking in the atmosphere of the wasteland that is Pandora while blowing up midget's heads and seeing numbers go up.

Is there a fantasy RPG equivalent of this? A cozy game I could play for appreciation of the in game world, atmosphere, prioritizing chill over number crunching.

So like Witcher 1, Gothic 1, TES, Baldurs Gate 1... And not like Knights of the Chalice, Pathfinder, Kingdom Come deliverance...

I have been considering Kingdoms of Amalur, that one just always eluded me for some reason. Is it good?

fore some clarification

I am not in a mood for a game that has a difficult learning curve of it's systems & high barrier of entry before you start having fun, too much life stress around, using games as just chill escapism atm

which is funny I usually prefer it the other way around, I never liked TES but nowadays I'd rather play TES than something like Kingdom Come or a difficult cRPG

I played kingdoms on pc years ago before the remaster and enjoyed it felt like an offline MMO action RPG

You obviously like WRPGs, but you might branch off into JRPGs. Final Fantasy 9 is very cozy.

Neverwinter Nights 1 has been my go to cozy game for most of my life
