The overwhelming majority of remakes are low-effort cash grabs from B-tier talent, and even the more competent ones often make careless decisions and degrade important aspects of the originals for misguided, fashion reasons. This doesn't change even with access to modern tech. If anything, remake devs wind up homogenizing games with off-the-shelf solutions. For example, Ivalice Chronicles includes a nice feature in the battle UI which tells you the effect of the zodiac compatibility. But then the actual UI itself is cluttered, ugly and looks like mobile trash. One step forward and two steps back. Remakes are overwhelmingly like this.
