Post your favorite examples of great and/or terrible sound design in RPGs.

Pic related is probably one of the worst sounding RPGs I ever heard. Abandoned Places was bad enough but the unbearable stepping sound in this one...

And an obvious great sound design example = all Infinity Engine games. Most people probably don't think about it but I think it does a lot of heavy lifting for the atmosphere and memorability of the games.

The music tends to steal the spotlight, but Skyrim had good sound effects too. Props to the guys in charge of that. I can see a dragon in the distance circling a mountain, and it's the roar that sells it. Not only the beast, but the worldspace as well. It's all so immersive I sometimes turn off the music out in the wilderness areas.

Skyrim is a linear action adventure game, not an RPG. It could have been put on these arcades in cinema halls.
