what are you even doing here anon?

Stuff like that is made by internet-enabled CRPG fans who have the Californian disease of constant comparison and brands as personality traits, not actual RPG fans. Most people like turn-based RPGs and don't care about what country they come from.

Indeed, everyone's revealed preference is for RPGs.

100 hour long game that is 80 hours of MMO "bring me 8 bear asses" sidequesting and layers upon layers of RNG as you have to zone into a map, hike through the labyrinth of corridors to reach the rare spawn at the end, see if the rare spawned (if not you have to zone out and run all the way back fingers crossed it will spawn this time), and then cross your fingers hoping it will drop enough mats that you need. Also hope you were following a walkthrough because of all of the timed missable quests and needing to setup your party a certain way so that you have at least two characters who learn the Cachexia spell by the lategame or else you can't progress past The Fallen.

It had cool aesthetics and powermetal tracks by Tsuyoshi Sekito but the game is mediocre.

Fucking hate this. Wonder why jrpgs used to do shit like this.

You literally don't need to do any of that shit if you're just playing the game normally. And going through the game on NG+ is especially fast if you have a good handle on the mechanics.
>so that you have at least two characters who learn the Cachexia spell by the lategame or else you can't progress past The Fallen
You don't need Cachexia for The Fallen or even Demigod. A party with plenty of mid-high tier damaging arts will do well enough if you play your unions and formations right

It's true, they are either braindead or completely obscure to follow and unfun to replay. Usually combat system is trivial aka you are immortal on the highest difficulty or opaque. E33 was somewhat in the middle and broke records for barely not sucking to hard.

Here I thought I'll get a gem, a new saga game for 10 bucks. Amalur is fine.

The lost art of figuring shit out. You were meant to try different routes and discover new things on every playthrough. Kinds who grew up with 24/7 internet access expect to just load up a guide and 100% the game on their first try, but classic RPGs weren't designed for this degenerate mentality.

I just replayed this game (on pc).
Battle system is really cool but the game itself doesn't explain it. It's a lot better the second time around, now that I know how to unlock each class and what effects they have. And I know exactly what each formation does. Teambuilding is way more fun now.
You don't need to use cachexia and you won't have it in time for the fallen anyway unless you're doing tons of grinding. Use flank attacks and morale shifting arts so you survive the aoes and have a few characters that clear debuffs. It was nice to have one character with cachexia for the white conquerer but not essential and he'll dodge it after he uses photon field so it doesn't ruin the fight even if you have it. I do recommend cachexia vs the lost.

Texture pop in is ridiculous.
Music is awesome.
Story is terrible. Feels like they couldn't decide on what roles the characters would play and they cobbled together a bunch of pointless scenes.
Pacing is weird. The main story is super short and there very few battles so you can go through a good chunk of the story and recruit strong units before you start doing quests. There's a good amount of quests and they're pretty fun to play through, usually with a battle or two each. Aside from the stuff you can easily find in the pubs there are a few quests you have to unlock by recruiting characters and repeatedly entering towns until those characters say something. As for the actual time-limited missable quests there's obviously emma's quest, duke ghor's quest is easy to miss, and you won't know that the fallen is no longer available after a point. Other stuff is fine, just do quests before finishing disk 1.
And then there's the filler guild tasks. Don't bother with those.

TLR is made by Square but it doesn't have any relation to Mog or the Final Fantasy series.

oh yeah and the weapon customizing stuff is dumb. Way too many components. Thankfully you can ignore it.

Hearty chuckle. I played it a long time ago and thought the world was interesting. Would play another game in this setting/10.

it is the true FF13
lost odyssey fags can go fuck themselves

That's correct. They were instead designed for children with no income who owned maybe 3 games and as such could be expected to play the same one dozens of times. I am 30. I do not have the fucking time for this. If I hear that there's a bunch of hidden and cryptic bullshit that no man could reasonably figure out without dozens of hours of trial and error, I am just not gonna play your game.

Is in fact my appreciation for the fun and potential of video games that makes me intolerant of certain tedious design decisions.

Probably the one game that I can think of that filters people (complementary). Not just normies but a bunch of neurodivergent people who like to act "intellectual"
>>
masterpiece but I will never replay it
shit is like 200 hours long and some of those sidequests are literal cancer in videogame form
