>Witcher 3 remaster is out>0 threadsDEAD
>>4115592let's keep it that waynot a proper RPG
>>4115592Eh I posted in the other witcher thread. Began my replay already.
>>4115601/thread
I can't even get it to launch.
Didn’t they already remaster it once? What the fuck are they doing
>>4115711>NOOOO ANOTHER IMPROVEMENT FOR FREE, THIS IS WRONG
>>4115601literal autism
>>4115592what do you expect, it's basically a graphics patch, when they release DLC 3 it might at least be something worth talking about
>>4115592>all time peak players on steam>120,000>yesterdayPretty good for a game released a decade ago, that's some staying power
>>4115719>>NOOOO ANOTHER IMPROVEMENT FOR FREE, THIS IS WRONGWitcher 3 is already a modern game that looks fine. Graphics have barely improved in the last ten years at all, what is the need for remastering the same game twice? Resources are finite, manpower and time and effort are finite, there are opportunity costs to every choice. There were surely better use of those employees' time, unless they were jeets or something.
>>4116000shut the fuck up
>>4115592Not an RPG. Action adventure goyslop, with a large dose of R*ddit.
>>4116000This proclivity to twist things into being bad is why you /v/irgins are so sad all the time
>>4116000NahThe "next gen" update was basically just porting it to dx11 and slapping raytracing on top of it. Remastered is a proper remaster.
>>4115719>>4116019>>4116137>>4116167Literal goycattle behaviour. TW3 is barely 10 years old, it ran perfectly fine even before the DX11 update. It didn't need any of this and the fact that you can't tell they're trying to repair their broken image with "le soulful devs gave us a free remaster??? that's so fucking wholesome!!!" PR is sad. It's textbook CDPR, it was cool of them back in the day, now it's just pitiful, especially coming from a studio which has been compromised and much of its talent leaving. In the end, they did this because it's easy. If they actually gave a shit they'd remaster/remake TW1 but they know they'd need to put in effort to not fuck that up.
>>4116206>no don't you see, old free updates good but new free updates BAD because i'm now old and balding andI get it, your life sucks and everything is bad
>>4115719>>4116019>>4116224>N-no! It's not a cynical PR move! CDPR are the heckin good guys!Fucking hell Anon how are you this gaped by a games studio over a promotional stunt? You cannot care this much about enhanced graphics and QoL mods taken from nexus.
>>4116233Free updates to games are a good thing
>>4116137>This proclivity to twist things into being badExtremely ironic, since you’re twisting “Why did they do this? It was unnecessary” into “This is bad! I am mad about this” through the lens of your retarded projection.
>>4116167>>4116206you mean dx12, surely? the next gen update in 2022 added dx12 support
>>4116263You also went on about the costs, you lil baby
>>4116000i agree
>>4116233>Obvious industry plant concern trolling>noooo they're using le marketing tricks don't you see fellow gamers?>now please buy our no effort remaster for $60 plus tip
I think CDPR are just a bunch of tech autists. Given the progression of CP77, they probably just wanted Witcher 3 to have all the fancy nvidia bells and whistles irregardless of the end product.
>>4117163>irregardless
I hate it when companies add optional updates to their decade-old games for free grr
>>4117195>pointless updates that make some things shinier and ruin actual presentation are great, look at that foliage in that forestRetards are easy to please
>>4117274Seems they're also easy to infuriate
Ok guys, 1st time W3 player here (having played 1 and 2) and still in the beginning: Is the remaster worth it or should I revert back to 4.04? I got it for free, so no biggie.I've read the bug fixes in the changelog, I've seen in-game the expanded talent trees and all, but also the whole game feels kind of....desaturated visually? It might depend partly on the rig, idk. Also, I imagine a lot of mods got broken after the update so less pool to choose from. What's your opinion then?
>>4117400Ngl that's so choice paralyzing fr like I'm getting panic attacks rn just thinking about it. Ask your dad for help
>>4115592It tripled its ATH on Steam and the game's already sold 60+ million. Who cares.
>>4117274You forget how they overhauled multiple game systems. The progression is different and the combat's refined.
>>4117488>they overhauled the turbo encabulators. The spline reticulation is different and the quadrilinear crystal's refinedYou sound like an NPC spouting filler gibberish.
>>4117304I am not angry. I just do not waste time nor money on pointless things
>>4117524You're genuinely retarded. The remaster isn't just a visual overhaul. They revamped the skill trees and combat system. Were you dropped on your head as a child or are you just inbred or from a third world country?
>>4117613The big combat change mechanically for Geralt is lock on and they improved the animations.Fundamentally, action does not change.Skill tree rework is the same deep as a puddle skill tree with reworked requirements/effects.The 'meaningful' change is enemy behavior, which you can still dodge roll or QuenTank with impunity amuwau
>>4117644Have you played it?
>>4117613>The remaster isn't just a visual overhaul. They revamped the skill trees and combat system.Cope.You are simply repeating buzzwords, not conveying information, or demonstrating conscious thought. You’ve asserted that these things are now different, as if that is self-evidently better. You never explained what you thought could use improvement about the original game, what had changed in this new version, and why you feel that these are beneficial changes that make the game more fun. Literally just “NEW THING, NEW = GOOD” NPC behavior.>You're genuinely retarded. Were you dropped on your head as a child or are you just inbred or from a third world country?Seethe.
>>4117667No, really. You're a complete idiot.>GAME SHINYThat's your analysis of the remaster. Go take a shower if your country even has running water.
>>4116034>namefagOpinion disregarded.
>>4117163The techies bailed out of CDPR years ago. That's why they dropped their own engine and switched to Unreal.
>>4117667Objectively it's an improvement. Your progression was previously locked behind level. You could hit every place of power in the game but only be able to access slots unlocked by your level resulting in a bunch of unusable skills. Now slots unlock based on skillpoints gained resulting in a better progression curve. If you want to explore and gain skillpoints you're rewarded by actually being able to use those skills. Likewise you can just beeline for certain skills now.My single qualm is that the general tree feels backwards and poorly designed. Witcher school specialization feels like they should be capstone skills rather than entry level, and the sun and stars skill, a basic QoL skill for death march requires a point in specific school specializations.
>>4115592It was a shit game eleven years ago, it's a shit game now.
So much needless seething here.Just cause game industry sucks ass, you grew older and bitter and netflix adaptation broke you doesnt mean you should spread that shit.Free remake is free. Witcher 3 is an enjoyable game. Nothing to hate here but imagined shadows. That said it is an old game and we have all played it ages ago so not much point talking about it.
I already played w3. The path tracing changes require hardware I dont have access toThe dlc might be interesting but thats next year and this is one of the most overwhelmingly stacked game release period in years.I might dl the game and check it out in half a year.
So I just did the battle for Kaer Morhen and noticed that Keira saves Lambert during a cut scene. What happens if you don't recruit her? Does Lambert just biff it?
>>4118937Most intelligent post in the thread. People are just butthurt at growing older.
>>4120282Same things happen just differently.I still save Keira because her and lambert are cute together.
Finally bought it after remaster update, but WTF are these hitboxes??? I keep getting hit even when I'm nowhere near the monster's swing arc.
Anyone else getting these weird map markers since the remastered update?
>>4120282you just have to save lambert yourself then. but he can die
>>4118931Post tits.
Screenspace reflections might be the single most demanding setting that's not raytracing/pathtracing. And it's always eating the same performance even when there's nothing being reflected.
>>4121477I kinda doubt it since ssr looks like garbageif it was expensive studios wouldnt use it
>>4121494I was flicking it between low and high and it accounted for like 30% of my gpu load. Like it's more demanding than ultra+ grass density for some reason.
>>4121477this. also the new anti-aliasing options look really bad. and gtao is broken for me. there's no interaction with foliage either, grass doesn't move when you walk through it. hopefully it's a bug but i'm getting impatient. wondering if i should revert to the old next-gen version
>>4121510Both are very much mixed bags desu.Nextgen has better color grading, remastered has better lighting generally, but nextgen has better outdoor night lighting. remastered offers xess native AA but drops TAAU for some reason and doesn't even offer native AA with fsr, so you're using either xess or dlaa if you have nvidia for native rendering. And keeping fxaa while ditching everything else feels like a sick joke. With nextgen I ended up cheating it by downscaling from a higher res with XESS upscaling because TAAU stutters like a motherfucker for me for some reason unless I jump through more hoops.
>>4121520>And keeping fxaa while ditching everything else feels like a sick jokethis. they update the requirements (which are bogus, i can run the game with my ancient gtx 1060 3gb) but still retain fxaa, but no taa. it's so weird. i use the amd fsr, it's that or xess that works on my machine but both are so bad compared to the old taa. regarding the new skill tree it seems ok so far, they seem to have remade it in a way that ties it more into gameplay instead of it being mostly flat buffs.
Kek, the remaster is such a buggy mess with clothes that often don't load correctly. After the Skellige scene where Yen and Geralt bone on the unicorn, Yen's clothes didn't load and she walked back into the banquet hall naked.
>>4121741yeah the next gen and now the remaster have been way more buggier than i remember the original version being
>remaster a modern game for no reason>its now far more buggy than the originalOk.
>>4121552There's something with the remaster. Because when I reverted to compare I tested fsr to see if it was as bad as it is in the remaster. Nope, while it was the worst of the upscaling options in nextgen that was mainly due to it not handling water splashes well. Otherwise it was usable. In remaster it's a blurry ghosty mess and gives me a headache to look at. Fsr 4 might be better but that's for rdna 3 and 4 users only right now. I feel like the remaster happened because nvidia pushed more money their way to try and sell more gpus by neutering proper AA options and making dlss the only "good" one.
>>4122098>I feel like the remaster happened because nvidia pushed more money their way to try and sell more gpus by neutering proper AA options and making dlss the only "good" one. This is the most plausible answer yet offered to my question earlier of “why remaster the game twice when it already looks fine as is”
>>4115592I'm playing Witcher 3 But Better 's Remake (Gothic 1 Remake)
>>4122098i get the feeling you are right. and i can't force any other aa through the control panel or nvidia inspector. and everytime you start the game the redlauncher pesters me to download new graphics drivers, which i can't since my old card isn't supported. almost feels like they want you to buy an expensive new computer. couldn't they have released an alternative update that only includes the quality of life updates like the dynamic camera, new skill tree and menu?>Fsr 4 might be better but that's for rdna 3 and 4 users only right nowwhats rdna 3 & 4? as i said i have an old gtx 1060 but the fsr option seems to work
>>4122111It's the generation. Rdna 3 and 4 are the rx7000 and 9000 series. Fsr4 is supposed to be coming to the 6000 series in 2027.Fsr up to 2 or maybe 3 is a global thing that's just available as long as devs put it in but every version has pros and cons. It's also funny the day the remaster came out I was playing it fine, none of the stuttering everyone was talking about. Then they patched it and forced me to download new drivers or the game would crash.
>>4121552>>4122098>uh antialiasingWhy are you obsessing over 1990s technology when you can just turn up the resolution instead?
>>4122221You can tell a bad game by the discussion around it surround not-game topics, such as fucking anti-aliasing.
there's so many unnecessary changes like the UI or music from standalone gwent matchmaking playing during fistfightsit's like when a woman gets hired to the team and all she does is shit like changing font colors or whatever
>the technical aspects of games are not game discussionPrime ball and gun behavior
>>4122169what's even the point of upscaling/frame generation? why have it instead of regular aa?>Then they patched it and forced me to download new drivers or the game would crash.lmao. what's even going on? this game is 11 years old what even is there to remaster
>>4122276and they didn't bother to actually fix what was needed. for example some sorting system in the glossary, crafting, alchemy and quest menus so you can easily access entries that have been updated instead of having to scroll through hundreds of entries.
>>4122276This. Daily reminder that CDPR's hiring policy has gone full woke in recent years.
The wild hunt aint shit.
What is it about this game that makes almost every anon in both /vrpg/ and /v/ seethe about everything in it? It's almost like it was specifically designed to stir up worse shitflinging than the average Bethesda thread.
>>4127808>vagueposting this hard in a thread whose opinions range largely from “why was this second remaster necessary” to positive “um akshually it’s an objective improvement in every way” to shilling “ITS FREE YOU INGRATE HOW DARE YOU QUESTION ANYTHING” to a simple “I liked it”Pity (you)
>>41155921>3>2Wish they didn't put the remake for the 1st one on hold for witcher 4. Don't give a fuck about the Ciri wank they are trying so hard to hype and cash in on.
>>4115719>>4116235Does it have an option to switch back to old graphics?I saw how it tanks framerate, so the>IMPROVEMENTpart is questionable.
>>4116034>Action adventure goyslopyeah but this the board for such games just like how citybuilders get to ride for free on /vst/
no one cares about realtranny chore and woman moment simulators i guess
