What do I need to know before I start a low level run?
your time is probably best spent doing anything else
Do it in FFV instead, you will have more fun
>>4117225do it in mario & luigi games instead
>>4117260This, you aren't proving anything to anyone. How about playing an off the beaten path JRPG instead?
>>4117287>How about playing an off the beaten path JRPG instead?Like this extremely rare NES -> SNES port of FF3, for example?
>>4117225well you run from everything then you cheese bosses. play the brave new world romhack instead
>>4117292nah, I what I mean is like titles that are hidden game's that aren't really talked about as much. You beat FF6, try something else.>
>>4117225Do it in the Pixel Remaster, since you can turn experience gain off and fight every battle. Someone on here already confirmed that you can recruit Mog last in the World of Balance. The only issue you will have in the Pixel Remaster is the Vargas fight. You cannot use Pummel against him immediately, you have to wait until Sabin triggers the tutorial. The first fight against Ultros is impossible unless you level up Banon a bit.
>>4117378This
I suggest combining it with a 'natural magic game' (don't learn spells through espers or equipment) since that makes characters more unique. Also it's probably better if you don't worry too much about getting the absolute lowest level. Not because it's difficult, but because certain dungeons have random battles that you can't escape from and therefore are forced to get exp or reset and try repeatedly until you make it through without encountering those enemies. And in order to manipulate the level characters join you have to recruit characters in a particular order to keep the average level down and you can leap gau off at the veldt. E.g. you need gau to soak exp when you go to the floating continent, then you need to gone before you recruit shadow. The floating continent has inescapable battles. In retrospect it was probably a bad choice to aim for the lowest 'average level' since gau did way too much damage with fixed dice.
>>4117378That's basically cheating.
>>4117540If you have already beaten the game, or done a low level game before and beaten it, then it is not. It's an alternative.
>>4117650No. Being able to freely grind for gil/AP dilutes a big part of the challenge.
>>4117225>a low level run?why though? AFAIK that should only be doable with savescumming, tool-assistance(some would call it cheating), or abusing certain blue magic.>>4117282the fastest "normal" way to do it in FF5 is with the Tamer class which is kind of boring.
>>4117653You can already grind on the veldt, kill cactaurs, steal and run, etc.I haven't played the rereleases, but if I had the option in the 90s I would have used cheats. You'll get the same gameplay experience minus some time-wasting stuff that adds no actual challenge. If anything you might be able to beat the game at an even lower level, making it more challenging.Only thing I can think of is that you have to skip some fights since they give exp, e.g. with 0 exp cheats you'll be able to fight the guards at the imperial banquet.
>>4117685You just don't get it. Sad.
>>4117653so don't grind then
>>4117676>the fastest "normal" way to do it in FF5 is with the Tamer class which is kind of boring.don't ruin it for him, he has to figure that out like abusing the fuuuuuuuuuu out of chemistry or blue magic
>>4117225this games a bit too linear, and doesnt give you the right tools until the very end to actually get creative5 is definitely much better suited to it with its job system
>>4118246The game is the opposite of linear. The first 1/3 of the game is linear, and then the rest is completely open ended and almost completely optional. You can go from WOR gaining airship to the final boxx, without having to do anything else.V is absurdly linear, and you don't get any of the good jobs until near the end anyways. If you don't know how to get the most out of VI at low level, then you don't know the game.>>4117225I hope you enjoy the Veldt grind to learn Magic. It's the most valuable place for you to spend your time. As learning Magic is going to be very important.Otherwise, you should know which Rages to teach Gau, which Blue Magic to teach Strago, where to go to learn Mog's Dances, and where the good items are.A low level run isn't overly difficult, if you're more familiar with the finer details and ins/outs of the game.I also suggest not abusing M.Block or Vanish+Doom/X-Zone, because those remove the actual challenge.
>>4117310>play the brave new world romhack insteadi got all the way to the floating continent in that romhack and got mogged by Atma Weapon. tried many different ways to beat him.fuck that romhack is hard.
>>4128619It's just shit. Even if you ignore the basic game design stuff it gets wrong the guy behind it went out of his way to nerf anything that was even marginally good.
>>4117225FfXV was my forst FF and 6 having played it recently, took the throne. The characters were excellent amd charming. I'm not sure I agree with the guy who suggested a "natural magic" run. Equipping espers to characters and training them in different magic is a core part of the gameplay and grind loop. If your not utilizing that feature, your not really even experiencing the game as intended. On top of that your looking at a ridiculous grind to lvl 99 to get the Ultima spell. >>4117442
