I sided with Maelle. The people of the painted world are obviously alive, and it seems very selfish to destroy an entire world just for the benefit of Maelle and Verso.

I also sided with Maelle but the framing of the ending made it seem like I picked the bad ending but at the same time fuck the whole "the world of E33 was inside a fake world" plot twist, basically undermined all of act 1 and 2

Verso's ending guilt trips you about what you've chosen as well. I don't think this story has a happy ending either way.

Rant that is me sympathizing with the story warning, ignore it if you don't care you won't get any more info about E33's ending from me

but I just realized that I am Aline and it made me cry, in 2020 I suffered a severe medical situation that has left me mentally scarred with PTSD, too scared to leave the house
my wife spent all those years trying to force me out of my self imposed PTSD prison, i hated her for atleast 2 years of her doing that and this game made me realize she was the Renoire to my Aline and I hated her for loving me

Renoire telling Alicia to reach for the stars reasonated with me so much, I am so scared to reach for the stars because much like Alicia I was burnt once

of course I can't beat PTSD from just playing a video game, it's not that easy
but this has given me such insane motivation to get out, seeing my own problems be expressed in such an artistic form has helped me connect the dots finally
the "safety" my house offers is the same comfort the painting offers Aline and Alicia, but it's killing me slowly to be stuck in my own prison forever to feel "safe"
I won't let PTSD win, I am going to get better for her
