>role-playing game>here you are xyz with this outfit and these skills and go do the thing>role-playing game>game is basically a narrow hall and path walking simulator with some customization options so you can go loud or sneaky>role-playing game>just a buggy sandbox maybe with some story stuff tacked oni'm still looking for the role-playing game. the ur-rpg, the one that i can pour 5k hours into without trying. the one that has unrivaled immersion and systems that go as deep as you want them to.
>>4118772Do you want to get redpilled?
>>4118776probably
>>4118777Try role-playing in a multiplayer role-playing game with other people who are role-playing
>>4118778i've tried that in various contexts but i don't care for it. it needs to be a single-player experience.

>>4118778i'm open to using AI bots when they get to human level.>>4118781yeah i know but what's a game where i can make the attempt.
>>4118783If you can't roleplay in TES, Fallout, Baldur's Gate, then you should probably stop trying to role-play in single-player video games.Since you mentioned AI, there was one anon who posted and praised his modded AI companions and NPCs in Skyrim. Maybe that would be of interest to someone.
>>4118791of those games TES probably gives you the most freedom but it's still just funneling you into questing and chores, the world is razor-thin and there's not much to do beyond the small-scale sword-and-sandals stuff. where's a game where i can go from one guy in a sort of adventure mode, open-world style game, which can then transition into war bands, tactics gameplay and ultimately into nation-station play, but i can still always zoom down back into my now-king character and go do stuff in the world i am forging. that's the scale i'm looking for.
