Is having romancable companions in a RPG being able to end up with another companion if you don't romance them on that run a good or bad thing in your eyes?If so why?
>>4137443It's bad as well as desirable women not being available arbitrarily. You are the hero of the story and this is your "power fantasy", the game does revolve around the player and fullfiling his wishes. Denying the player women and flaunting how they are fucking another dude, seeing a hot woman claimed by another man is subconscious humiliation, taunting you that you couldn't claim that woman.A situation like Tali x Garrus is humiliating, because you are being punished for romancing someone else in another run, by seeing the girl your character has won being taken. It doesn't matter if it's "a different character" or "double standards" the player is the real reactive person there, the "Shepeard" is just his puppet, the player remains in all runs and that just destroys the point of that romance being made for the player theplayer and Tali's connction being unique.Faggots criticising this will say "but muh realism, muh immersion, muh reactive world, npcs having their own lives and don't revolve around player" no they fucking don't. It's a world that exists for the player. It's made for the player, it's not a self-running simulation. The games do in fact revolve around the player's actions. When you pause someone else isn't gonna continue your quest, the game world only exists when you run the .exe fie. This isn't a player driven MMO. The game is meant to serve the player and his fantasy. To make the player satsfied. Devs know this and them taking away the important romance aspect of the hero's "save the world get the girl" goal is malicious. Why would they subvert it by making you watch a hot woman with another man while that world and it's charcters should please the player. Same goes for making the player watch the girl he won in one playthrough being claimed by a different guy in another.
>>4137464>"power fantasy"A game delivering a satisfying fictional experience is not a "power fantasy". You should smash your head against a brick wall if you think this way.>Devs know this and them taking away the important romance aspect of the hero's "save the world get the girl" goal is maliciousOld Ted Kaczynski wrote a bit about leftards. They hate anything successful, powerful, uplifting, etc. That's why a classic premise gets called "power fantasy". Or "unrealistic". This is why characters must act like retards, why they have to be humiliated by an ugly women, and why any serious scene has to be ruined with a fart sound of the so- called "millennial humor" writen by 50 years old losers.
>>4137443>good or bad thing in your eyes?Good thing>If so why?It shows a grounded approach to storytelling and has the characters behave realistically. It's a perfectly natural response to want to form a relationship as a result of a intense experience, especially a prolonged one, and we're not particularly picky about who that person is. Which is why relationships based on intense experiences never work.So while I'm not a fan of every game having a "love interest", or more particularly how much emphasis is placed on having one, having a shunned interest enter a relationship with another party member works. As long as it doesn't lead to an abhorred PG13 love scene with Shepherd walking in on them or blatant fan-service as done by ME.Romance = goodRomance at the forefront of the story = bad

>>4137443No its fine why should you care if your companions do things you aren't doing your self honestly we could use more of it.
>>4137464>seeing a hot woman claimed by another man is subconscious humiliation, taunting you that you couldn't claim that woman. So your entire life is a humiliation ritualHow have you not killed yourself yet?
Yes, it's fine. If the player has said no thanks, I'm not interested, people should move on. It makes the characters feel more alive instead of being just bits waiting to react to the player's actions.>>4137560Isekai harem slop was made for these kinds of people.
I dislike it when the player is the only one doing romance but I think adding too many optional possibilities is a death sentence for good development, devs inevitably get lazy with things they think "most players" won't seeAlso 100% that people say they feel guilty "stealing" a good pairing, and nonstop cuck jokes on both sidesI prefer canonized romances or small selections of choices over "fuck anything that moves", it lets writers do what they want with the rest of the cast
