Hello s/vst/ anons. We gather here to discuss one of the RTT games of all time.OG games can be gotten from GOG. For standalone, mods and maps I visit sudden-strike-maps.de.Notable projects:>RWM 8.5>Vietnam Project>Modern Warfare Mod>SUSST 3 is 'gud akshully'GOG edition comes with the addon and is patched to have the improved unit path finding that The Last Stand provided, also modern resolution support. Use Batus mod for skins and new units.Sudden Strike 4 is better with DLCs and SS4Ever Mod Extended.Sudden Strike 5 released recently. It has a demo. I wasn't impressed. Feel free to share opinions, if you've played it.Running the old games on Linux:Use GE-Proton 9-11 as later version breaks fullscreen scaling. For standalone mods, copy files from \game\code\release into \game and run game.exe in Heroic or whatever launcher you prefer.
>>2399065>one of the RTT games of all timeit certainly is one of the RTT games
>>2399065Isn't it the only RTT of all time?
Not playing currently, but I support this thread.I could never get into RMW/MWM because I just can't fucking see the units.
>>2400000Taking your GETs virginity
>SS 2First time playing this game and the series, just finished the first 4 missions of german campaign. Is this game like, easy? Just breezed through them with zero problems. How much shit does the diff slider change? Should I go straight to General diff?Other than that the game's pretty fun. Sprites look really nice, especially the vehicles.
this game really is one of the games of all time >>2400000crazy get
>>2402948You can change the difficulty in SS2?SS1 was hard to cock and ball torture
I still can't get the basegame to work under win10. I heard it works on linux...
>>2405655The GOG version of SS1 and SS2 both work on my machine
>>2405657Well I still have my retail boxed copy and it does not work at all.
>>2405662Then pirate the gog version. I also have my CDs just for posterity anymore.
>>2399352The combat in Total War games is RTT
>>2402948Well I finally finished Germany's campaign. Difficulty picks up in mission 6 but it's managable. The game is kinda janky and lacks a lot of QoL features but overall I like. I like how it tries to be realistic in it's own way. Forrest combat irl is pain in the ass and here forest combat is also pain in the ass. Urban combat requires going door to door clearing out and then controling the buildings and here you basically do the same thing. In general you need to mix up infantry, armored vehicles and tanks to be effective. Also, those intros to missions are terrific, I really really like them. Would be awesome to replay them during the game, especially after you dropped the game for couple of days.On the other hand there's a lot of turtling since whole gameplay boils down to outscouting and out-field-of-viewing your opponent. And it sucks that the only proper scouting unit is an officer. Can I put him in a tank so he'll use his binoculars from there? I tried to do it but didn't really work but maybe I'm doing something wrong. I feel like this will get old pretty quick but we'll see, I will definitely play the other campaigns first.Game's a bit annoying at times but overall really satisfying hence pretty fun. What's the next best campaign to play?
>>2399065Wait did they finally add widescreen support?
>>2412421Personally I think the jap campaigns are peak just because the terrain looks amazing. Really have try the vietnam mod because jungle in this game looks great.
>converted https://github.com/americusmaximus/WarStorm to cmake and compiled it>it doesn't work with my retail filesshucks
