You right click on units to select them and move them by using right click. On the top right there are what your units can do, and by holding right click on a walled settlement you recruit units.

It is an extremely simple, intuitive game to play but the templeOS aesthetic tricks you into thinking it has some schizophrenic hotkey tank commands or hidden mechanics beyond your little zoomer comprehension

That and the fact that you need to restart some five or six times everytime you play untill you spawn in such a way you don't immediately die to random wildlife

I want to play the game in co-op with a friend who doesn't own it.

Can he just use my key? Or maybe use a pirated version?

This game is much harder than Dominions. In Dominions, you can atleast set up a defensive front and know where the enemy will attack from.

In CoE, the enemy can just swoop right in which is a pain when coupled with the low LOS and the invisible abomination neutrals.

I like to play Free for all with many players. The only thing you can do early came is turtle and pray that multiple enemies don't migrate-invade you at the same time.
>>
>>2418978
this information is not on the wiki or anywhere else online, i just want you to know if you play High Cultist and you get an Elder Starspawn with all the rituals unlocked, you can send greater horrors anywhere for only 50 sacrifices (less if you can somehow find a floating blue cube)
this gives you ICBMs in multiplayer. the effect is even better with more elder starspawn. theres simply few factions that can survive a constant barrage of these freaks on their citadels. but we wary where you send them, because if they survive they will kill you too. you can see them only with commanders that have the trait "spirit sight"

i have heard he can destroy thrones of ascension in doms6 so i would be very careful
maybe you can get lucky with a soul slay or a bunch of wizards. magic is always what i use when there is a problem armies cant defeat. ideally, you have an army with maybe half a dozen level 2 wizards at least, and at least 50 or so cannon fodder troops just to distract the thing a little bit.
The problem is the elder horrors just appear and disappear, they're difficult to track down. This guy is pretty scary, the god hunter, but there is another doom horror called "Scabiel, Maker of Ruins" that could be potentially cataclysmic. so far, Ive only seen that one in the other planes but any doom horror could just walk out of a set of pyramids at any time. Scabiel walks around turning settlements into plains tiles and ruins

Acid, magic weapons, massed projectiles... Massed tengu, ants or cloudfag archers with some buffs are probably your most cost effective way.

Cloud elementals and crossbows won't do shit for you here anon. He's got no armor but has ethereal so you want volume of fire first and magic weapons and something to mitigate blood vengeance second if you can get it, so archers and potentially even slingers with buffs. And pretty sure he has 100% shock ward in addition to magic res 13. If you really want to get fancy I'd also expect a paladin 3 swarm to carve him up like a rotisserie chicken.

>When men came to Elysium there were individuals who realized that there was profit to be made in the growing markets and towns of the newfound continent. Guilds formed where trade was abundant and the leaders of the guilds accumulated fortune, influence and eventually military power to rival that of human warlords. Relying on human troops and mercenaries, various Guildmasters established themselves across Elysium.

>Relying on human troops

This to me implies he's not actually human despite leading humans. Plus the fact Elysium isn't connected by sea to any other landmass but instead the endless abyss, id imagine he sells rare Elysium minerals to elder gods and interstellar demons who are too amorphous and ignorant of the laws of physics to make it themselves

Like maybe he was even originally human but was mutated from traveling there instead of just going insane

>>2420170
If you get ambushed it's pretty much impossible unless you have a tanky pretender chassis that wished for strength several time with MR gear because you realistically cannot cast a spell before it flies on top of you. On the battlefield high strength supercombatants with magic weapons will kill anything eventually, the problem is having the proper spells to keep them alive.

>>
>>2464086
Plenty of classes do have final forms. The Necromancer has like 4 different things it can end up as, the Markgraf can be a vampire too, the Witch can turn to an immortal swamp hag, the Priestess effectively turns into Baal, the Warlock is built around multiple paths and the Maharaja's major gods have ultimate forms.
>>
Why is playing human factions so fucking miserable in this game. I cleared few games with Emperor bots while playing Kobolds and Cultists, but with Guildmaster and Baron anything higher than Baron difficulty looks impossible. With Guildmaster tried goin maritime, tried rushing mercenaries for free units, tried stacking merchants guilds for better income, rushed mages guild, but to no avail. I simply can't keep up with growth of other armies let alone outpace them while also dealing with wildlife and other bs that seem to take particular liking in fucking with my territory and no one else's. By the time I'm capable of making anything worthwhile I already have at least 2 bots invading me with multiple armies which I can't even compete with.
>>
>>2464966
I honestly don't get you. The main difference in playing baron or guildmaster compared to I dunno warlock or demonologist is instead of pivoting from basic human troops into summons you pivot into mages and in case of GM really good human troops. But GM and baron are a bit opposite in what they do. GM can take a mid spawn and turn it into gold one but that, same as his doom stacks or cancer roamer takes time to get online. Likewise he's one of the few leaders that can reliably and easily live off extraplanar economy. Meanwhile baron basically only needs a source of iron, some trade and an alchemist to get started on his snowball.
Senator and barbarians are... let's call them challenge runs.

French fanfiction. I bet they were the cuckolds whose versions of some Knights' tales I've read that included unhealthy amount of knocking people and literal monsters out of their saddles to take their horses and armor (a trick that didn't work on the skeleton knight btw, before he would just get up back into the saddle instead of pathetically giving up his armor and his skeleton horsey like a cuckold).

But more to the point, you are comparing King Arthur ruling his kingdom to the Baron getting coronated and being hit with some curse turning him into a feeble old man the second he takes the throne and stealing his armor and magic sword.
>>
>>2466868
Sure, but you remove that french romance fanfic and you remove him being a king with knights. Earlier works basically make him Cú Chulainn 2.0 and while a boss, that man was never called a king.
...and what do you have against frog fanfic? The stories are neat on their own and further helped inspire many a good eroge down the line.

>But more to the point, you are comparing King Arthur ruling his kingdom to the Baron getting coronated and being hit with some curse turning him into a feeble old man the second he takes the throne and stealing his armor and magic sword.
Yes. It's called getting old and having enough dosh to afford your underlings and presumably your heir to take over. You do get a second baron, eventually.
>>
>>2466874
>Yes. It's called getting old
That's not what happens in the game. He is literally cursed into aging up until he is close to using his sword as a cane the moment he takes up the crown. Senator's promotion doesn't work like that. Noone's promotions work like that. The closest I can think of would be Deep One Oracles and Dvalas and both are magical creatures that GROW in power with their "age".
>>
>>2466879
>Noone's promotions work like that
And that's cool. What, you want everyone and everything to play the same? Sounds boring. And it's not like his kingform is weak with all he's getting. ...unlike senator and dark form. Fuck whoever made that.

I get it, you have an idea what he is and should be but consider this, maybe our baron isn't a heroic warrior king. Maybe he's a perverted fat fuck like say Vladimir Harkonnen. It would explain not having a horse for start. Hell, maybe he doesn't want to be a warrior king. Maybe he just wants to sit in a castle and eat and fuck and write shitty french poetry while everyone else does his dirty work.

>>
>>2467246
Nah. Riding units already get multiple attacks, they don't need trample too. Also most of them are small and wouldn't be able to trample anyway because most things can't trample things the same size as them. (while there's a command that lets minotaurs do this, it'd be weird for everyone to be able to do it.) If this is about baron, just give him a moose rider or an elephant rider freespawn if he conquerors a desert palace.
>every siege unit gets a slow to reload attack for field battles
Nah. There are already ballista, and who wants to drag around slow moving siege units for the sake of launching a boulder every 4 turns? Consider abilities to make locations fortified like how some classes can make mines, forests, or small towns into fortified locations, or even how warlock can make a fort of earth around himself wherever he is. Then you can have siege phases if something decides to attack next turn. A lot of classes already have siege units that can do things in battle as well.

I'm aware. The idea was to make human factions: baron, barbarian, guildmaster and senator slightly less dependant and slightly more resistant to bad library rng. Catapult and low damage trample being the poor mans sniper or crowd control mage respectively. Assume guildmaster and senator would also gain some cavalry. First probably just related and the second maybe barbarian cav and an elite leo cataphract. No one would get additional artillery units just some more functionality on existing ones.
>>
>>2467340
>human factions: baron, barbarian, guildmaster and senator
What does "human faction" mean to you? To me non human factions are cloud lords, pale ones, trolls, etc that have non humans as their main units. Priest kings, witch, and the other priest factions are human factions to me. I don't get the obsession with baron and senator, but then maybe I just am tired of generic castle and generic rome, but I imagine people clamoring for ww2 german/russian faction as well.

As for an actual response: Guildmaster is in no way dependent on library RNG and can make their own libraries or upgrade a city with a level 1 library to a level 2 one. They also have ridiculous siege weapons that can also be used in battle. They also have the pegasus and gryphon riders for cavalry and shitton assassins for snipers.
Senator having cavalry is probably a decent idea but giving them trample is silly. Just give them war elephant units, like the monkeys but with humans on them.
Barbarian, nah, they're shitty but giving them trample cavalry neither fits with them nor would make them any better. They already have access to mages and plane shifting ethereal units so I feel those aspects should be expanded on if anything. Maybe give the werebears trample. They'd be a lot stronger if Disease mattered any. Maybe someone could suggest to Illwinter having disease separated from wound infections and disease able to spread to other units in the army.
Baron, as I suggested before just give them war elephant recruits from capturing the desert palaces or monkey villages. They have absolutely no reason to have trample, however. They get a ton of monks/abbots who can turn human chars to their side and banish undead and demons, and have decent options with sweep, pikeneers, and better archers to kill faster and further.
Ballistas are already the usable-in-battle siege weapon and giving catapults that would take away the niche. Maybe barbarian could have some totem they carried into battle.

Non-summoners. As in their core is almost certainly going to be and remain "human" troops. And it's not really any obsession for me, just in the mood for some homebrewing and throwing ideas out there for factions I feel could use a tuneup.

>gm
True. But I feel they have a hole in their early game roster and would like to shake things up from caravan guards and mariners or crossbows. Sages guild is amazing but on some societies, or a cursed spawn, even level 1 library city can be very rare. He's probably least affected by this, fair.

>Barb
I'm least convinced for these as well. Their cav already has bows so it might be too much. Mounted chief is getting a bow and mid-, that's not up to debate lol. But werbears or not-mumakils could be the way. Spitballing whether to give them an armored warrior line as well, they'd cost a lot of iron but could prove an interesting sidegrade to amazons. And it's not like barbs have much use for iron anyway.

>Senator
I think you're overestimating trample. Trample 6-8 deletes most regular units. Trample 1-2 deletes only goblins, hoburgs and skeleboys. What it does is can help push your cavalry past the lines so you envelop them with your infantry. Or ride thru chaff to the casters and archers pounding you. You know, instead of killing archer spam give it something that messes with it. I very much like that composition with cl and fliers/cloudfolk.

>Baron
He ain't getting elephants from me but moose knights might be on table. And sure, if you get everything rolling you're going to have abbots with mass conversion and banish and magi with meteors. But if you don't, because there's not a goddamn temple or library for 500 tiles around you, you have siege to fall back to. Which has its own downsides of slow for one and iron for two. Ballistas do pierce, cats or trebs do blunt. That's their niche. Plus I like what brettonians have going for them.

Oh and cavalry could lose the hoof attack to compensate for the trample. Would be a slight nerf damagewise but better utility and character to them.

Mad dash landgrab that helps you harvest underworld for cash that helps you conquer elysium. So archers/warriors into some but not too many ancestrals that with underworld holdings help you get amazons and more archers/warriors with ideally later having a critical mass of mainly tattooed crystal amazons. Cavalry is something you use to make AI chase its own tail and to raid him to shit. Aggressive expansion (even if you can't hold the taken ground) and strangling someone in their crib while knowing when not to permawar bloodfeud (while draining resources) and waiting for a third party to wipe you both out is what will make or break your run in my experience.

Disease matters more in Dominions since battles aren't exclusively one-sided victories (and usually, most losses are the result of a retreat, although not all of the retreaters will escape alive), you have more commanders and units in general so that strategies which rely on the loss of a squad are feasible, and disease can be inflicted through noncombat spells. Currently, the only uses of disease in COE5 are as a weaker variant of weakness which stacks with it, and as a suicide bomb against units that you can easily hit but can't kill (but disease-inflicting units which are worth sacrificing are rare, it takes time to kill them if it ever does, and many units that you would target are either immune to disease, have enough health that it won't be significant except for reducing healing, or have high magic resistance). I think disease may have just been included to flesh out the setting and to make some independents more risky, rather than as a viable strategy by the player.

Feels like it was included just to annoy you when your squad of normie 6hp humans got assaulted by disease casting magic users

I think it would be kino if we can have little modding mondays where we show off whatever mods we're working on for the game. There's some already existing kino, but something to keep the spark alive until 6 comes out (if ever)

Alright, how do you feel about expanding the barbarians and the neutral tribes? The idea being each of the tribes gets a niche or their niche gets expanded and you get to recruit a chief of theirs which allows for their units to be recruited and or maybe freespawned on him every so often. But you only get to recruit one and the opposite is blocked. So, wolf tribe chief blocks the deer tribe one for example. Lion blocks hyena and so on.
>>
>>2473861
>choosing between various options to expand your faction into different niches
This is just cool and I wish every faction had this
>>
>>2473880
I agree. Got any more ideas along those lines?
>>
>>2473861
Sounds like ripping off warlock and dryad but otherwise probably okay. If I modded it the Barb would probably just unite all the tribes and monkies and pygmies too and go full raiding horde. It would probably just be the northern tribes though, since the Baron gets the southern ones.
>>
>>2473922
Why warlock and dryad?
>>
>>2473889
I think the most obvious is necromancer, they can already go
>wight
>ghost
>lich
>vampire
for the necromancer himself,
Just give that implications for what troops you raise and commanders you're offered going forward, maybe a few more rituals to give each of them some unique capabilities the others don't get
>>
>>2473930
>But you only get to recruit one and the opposite is blocked
Like choosing a warlock element path.
>you get to recruit a chief of theirs which allows for their units to be recruited and or maybe freespawned on him every so often
Dryad's playstyle.
>>
>>2474065
Brother... Warlock paths are not exclusive. Having a waterlock doesn't stop you from promoting a different apprentice to a firelock.

>Dryad's playstyle.
So, you suggest upgradeable units too? Huh. I kinda like that idea. Tattoos, iron or something in between?

This was but an elaborate trap to get anons interested in my DnD/Forgotten Realms mod. See pic related. Lost steam on this, I can churn out crappy image edits for troops and verbose writing but balancing and rituals always escapes me.
