If anyone's played the Urban Onslaught DLC for Starship Troopers Terran Command, how did you finish the second mission? It's the one where jumpjet rocket troopers are introduced and it ends on you needing to simultaneously defend civilians against endless attack hordes while clearing out a couple of high strength hives.I cleared out the first hive after a lot of very slow inching forward, constant reinforcing and tardwrangling the JAG trooper line of sight but the second hive I could simply never break the stalemate of. The only reason I finished the mission was because the game bugged out and stopped sending attack waves which just barely gave me enough troops to it out but I wonder if there was a better way or if the game's just hard to properly strategize in. I feel like half the time I'm fighting the controls more than I am the bugs, like this mission there was this one Tall Gate(Open) placed right in the middle of a chokepoint between a resupply station and a hive and whoever came up with that is a fucking faggot who is probably working for the bugs because the piece of shit kept overriding me attemping to click on my troops and get them out of that meat grinder chokepoint. The controls are kind of shit in this game but I also know that I'm extremely shit at multitasking/holding down two fronts at once so I wanted the perspective of someone who actually knows how to play RTSs on how they would have tackled that.
Didn't this get some kind of conquest mode update? I also found both DLCs I played to be doubling down on the least fun mission types and map design from the main campaign. Didn't finish either.
>>2427499I'm liking the second DLC because it gives me that HOLD THE FUCKING LINE fantasy I love, but it feels like a very large step up in difficulty. It's a definite step up in quality thoughThe first DLC felt mediocre. Shit voice acting, the new unit types were so-so, the new flying enemy unit types were insufferable to fight and all the missions felt like they ended 10-20 minutes early.
>>2427464its been a long time since i played it, but im pretty sure i just got like 1 or 2 jag troopers and stuck one near the holding spot with a bunch of mortar turrets with 2 riflemen and 2 police squads with 1 police on each side of the holding spot, and went to clear hives with 4ish squads+1jag. i think i kept 3ish squads out to keep the hives/tunnels from replenishing, so i wouldn't lose all progress, and i'd send the other squads back via dropship transport when the wave was coming. it's important to grab as much supply caches on the map as possible before attempting to fully clear the hives. it was a slow steady slog, but thats a lot of the missions lol.>>2427499the conquest mode sucked ass. after you play 8ish(?) maps, they start repeating and you just attack from the other direction, or with different lighting conditions lol. i think the base game was the best campaign but took too long to introduce all the units/get out of basically tutorial mode.the hell dlc was meh, didn't really care for the units, the story, the environment, or the missions, but i heard they reworked it quite a bit since i beat it.urban onslaught is exactly what it states (when you play on max difficulty). i would have to reload a lot of the autosaves in order to slowly figure out how i needed to approach it.i do wonder how th new dlc is, but i kinda burned myself out on the game after beating all the dlcs back to back to back, and then waiting for the conquest mode which felt like shit.
>>2427752The new DLC is just more conquest mode on a new planet and with a new faction(chemical/hazmat exterminators) that's supposedly really broken. I've read in reviews they didn't bother with much plot or even the intro cutscenes to the missions.
>>2427759>just more conquest modegay. that shit sucks ass.
Rapidly losing patience with this DLC on the penultimate mission. The original campaign had its fair share of underground/tight corridor missions but considering the entire gimmick of this DLC is huge numbers of waves that simply do not end and require you abusing the police squad's walkie talkie ability and require very slow inching forward since none of your guys can fire over each other and the corridors are extremely tight. The drone nests/bug lair spawns simply do not end unless you bum rush them and I don't like that at all.I think I'm just gonna say fuck this and play Last Train Home instead.
