Big Steam sale. Any good strategy games worth getting? What are some good recommendations?
Nah. Discounts too small. Base prices too high
>Think it's worth buying X4 Foundations this summer sale since its 80% off and hoping maybe after all these years it's finally become Good(tm)>See store page, i already bought it>When the fuck->Receipt suggests i bought it during last winter sale, but the price was 90% off insteadi feel like a fucking schizo
>>2437046Don't feel bad, it's happened to me quite a few times.
>>2437046It is good, just hard to get into. The learning curve is pretty big.
>>2437023Feels weird shilling it on this board where it has 24/7 generals, but Troubleshooter is one of the best SRPGs of all time and is consistently priced low.
I've got a bunch of crime management strategies on my wishlist. Are there any that will satisfy that high that I've been chasing since the OG Gangsters: Organised Crime?
>>2437141>saaarpigs
>>2437175Still a vist
>>2437037This. Unless I see 50% or 75% off or more, I don't buy. Basically stopped opening Steam for nearly a year now.
Discuss, what's the best option?
>>2437209Rome 2 sucks, buy the others
Hi! I bought some strategy games.
>>2437215my friend liked Last Train Home.no idea why you'd ever buy Wargame EE.
CKII is pretty cheap, idk it looks fun when I watch isorrow play it.Might finally get Rogue Trader.Sins 2 is half off again, I loved Sins 1.
>>2437244>artis that a videogame? Reminds me of Iron Nest
>>2437251Looking briefly at his google results he's a concept artist at id software. So that's cool.>>2437244and I meant CKIII
>>2437254play CK2 anyway. But 3 is finally getting the updates it should have years ago with a DLC and economy rework. Inshallah and basic feudalism and islam will see a pass next year.
>>2437209>Thrones of BritanniaDO NOT BUY THISIT IS SHIT
>>2437267Looks like I did not like it.
>>2437290Can you even finish one lifetime in 90 minutes? Play more
>>2437291No I trust my 10 years younger self, he had good reasons I'm sure.
>>2437221I wanted to start from the beginning and it seems to have a real campaign.Helps that it was only £2.
I had a lot of fun with Five Nations. Very long and diverse campaign.
>>2437426It isn't on offer which is a shame.
>>2437428I didn't notice, huh. It goes on sale every few weeks tho.
>>2437244this seems like an extremely expensive, overcomplicated, completely impractical and heavily vulnerable to ANY attacks rendering these cannons fucking uselesswhat sort of a fucking retard designs a rotating turret ON TRACKS? IT FUCKING ROTATES YOU STUPID NIGGER AND THERE'S ANOTHER FUCKING CANNON 25 METERS AWAY!!!!!!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO PUT ALL 50 CANNONS IN A TIGHT CORNER SO THE ENEMY CAN NUKE ALL OF THEM AT ONCE????? WHAT THE FUCK IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS SHIT AHHHHHH I AM GOING INSANE SAVE ME NIGGERMAN
>everything I want doesn't get a good discount>everything that gets a good discount I either don't want or already haveEvery fucking time.
>>2437023Nigger poop farm simulator 2026 FUCK YOU
I got farthest frontier...Hope it's not complete shit.
>>2437599heh
>>2437607It is? I've been wanting to play a "new" city builder, but I can refund it.
>>2437609You should. It's somehow worse than manor lords. Even banished is better.
>>2437617I guess the cats and dogs DLC should have tipped me off...
>>2437609It just looks and feels like shit to play. Idk.
>>2437209>released 2013>80% off>comments say it doesn't run on modern windows anymorepeak merchant behavior
>summer SALE>games that released decades ago are 25% offamazing...
>>2437251Been playing the demo of Iron Nest. Pretty kino stuff.I often wonder where the line of strategy lies for this board, because we talk about things like Silent Hunter that aren't really strategic in any way but give them a pass because it is historical and autistic. So would we be allowed to talk IN?
>>2437677it's primarily played by looking at a map (plotting board) I say it counts
Is Total War Pharaoh really that bad? I'm kind of interested in games sent in that time period.
>>2437702I think it's alright but i like the time period
>>2437482Well you see, you can now have just 10 cannon cover 100 miles of coastline since they can redeploy to wherever the enemy attacks. Obviously they shouldn't be in front of the seawall but in theory it makes sense. And it looks cool.
>>2437482There is an ammo feed built into the wall as well, so a cannon will need to line up with one of those in order to be effective.Imagine the logistics of building and stocking an ammo feed every 100 yards or however far apart those guns are stationed. I'm led to believe this nation spends its entire annual budget on shells, and for what? That wall is only good for kaiju attacks or something else of a simple nature, any human attacker is simply going to find a far more effective strategy to get around. Or they'll simply wait for their enemy to run out of the money it costs to build those massive bastards.
>>2437697sounds about right, since looking at a map is the only thing that allows Suzerain to be discussed here
>/vst/ - Map Enthusiasts
>>2437702the UI is ugly as shit but Pharoah Dynasties is *fine* otherwise. It has some cool ideas like the multiple resources and native recruitment
>>2437173LCS: Liberal Crime Squad might hit the spot. It's free, and was made by the dwarf fortress guys. They've stopped updating it, but there's a small community keeping it running.>In the dark violent future of 20XX, the United States has gone fascist. You must assemble a group of revolutionary and essentially run an insurgency against the US Govt, starting with one guy doing graffitis and handing out pamphlets and ending up with a well oiled terrorist organization with multiple cells in several cities that's raiding police stations, taking over TV stations with Sleeper agents on the Supreme court.
>>2437702It feels exactly like warhammer but worse. Nothing but awful board game mechanic shit. Extremely unfun and unimmersive.
>>2437215>baronyvery nice
>>2437599It's an good game if you play it casually, but the more serious/autistic you get about it, the worse it gets. It's one of those games where you basically have to demolish your own town and rebuild it from the ground up if you want to have an optimal layout. It also doesn't give you enough direct control over the little things for the amount of optimization that the mechanics seem to expect. Raids never stop coming and grow in power according to your wealth, so you never feel like you've won the game. You just keep going until you either get bored, or you hit a raid that's so big it overwhelms everything you could possibly field. There's no actual endgame. Finally if you have the pet DLC, it just adds more frustration since you NEED cats and dogs to guard your shit from rats and gophers and foxes, but foxes are bastard cunts who you should hunt with actual hunters, cats CONSTANTLY need replacing because they drop dead when someone breathes at them, and pets never seem to do what you really want them to.
>>2437023
>>2437954Coming from impressions city builders and whatnot, I already refunded it. Shit didn't hold up to scrutiny.
>>2437209are these the only total war games you havent played because both sides are kinda shitget attila or three kingdoms if you havent already
poor fag herewhat are some good strategy games that work even on a chrome book with 8gb ram and intel uhd 6000
>>2437969Wesnoth
>>2437969Warsimhttps://store.steampowered.com/app/659540/Warsim_The_Realm_of_Aslona/>literally text based running in a shell prompt
>>2437666It runs fine?
>>2437969Sins of a Solar Empire 1 runs on all toasters.
>>2437974>>2437982>>2437993Thanks
>>2437718>Well you see, you can now have just 10 cannon cover 100 miles of coastlineBut there's a cannon every 80 fucking feet. You don't *need* tracks when you have a cannon with a dedicated ammo loading station-slot every 80 feet
>>2437209Youre either stupid or running a bad AI cus there is no way you counted Bubsy as a strategy game.
>>2437482You put the cannon on tracks for ease of maintenance. You can see some examples of this in french forts from WW1. I will agree that having the rail part being exposed is dumb.
XCOM 2, Xenonauts 2, or OpenXCOM?
Don't get Grand Tactician: Civil WarThere's some neat stuff, but the UI and tutorials are unforgivable
>>2437702All Total Wars after Shogun 2 belong in the garbage
>>2438194Then which one should I get pre-Rome 2?
>>2438202Rome and med
>>2438180>You put the cannon on tracks for ease of maintenanceit would be a lot easier to do maintenance on the cannon if it didnt have an entire retarded pointless needless track system under it to do maintenance on to begin with
>>2437960they're the ones im most interested in. I don't care much for playing in China, it's my main thing holding me back from 3K. I enjoyed M2Kingdoms Britain's campaign, so Thrones of Brittania seemed fun to me.I am considering Attilla vs Rome 2...>>2438178Bubsy 3D is the closest thing to a tactical strategic platformer that man has ever designed. if you miss those jumps, you just cost yourself 2 hours of your life
>>2438185Xcom2
>>2438202Shogun 2, Rome, Med2, & NapoleonEmpire has a few mods that make it up to snuff
>>2438236three kingdoms is the best modern total war game by far but if you dont like the setting skip itattila is just great and if you want to play with knights there are some pretty good medieval mods
>>2438204>>2438247Is Rome remastered worth it or should I just stick with the OG?
>>2437482Looks like anti-air up top and anti-ship down below
>>2437666If your cpu has too many cores it doesn't run and you have to manually select which cores it runs on. I have to do that when I play it (not often).
>>2438434just go around it lmao not even china could afford stretching that shit around its borders
>>2438268They didn't fix the parts that needed fixing from OG. Camera felt better with remaster, but OG seems better. It being called a "remaster" is insulting
Is WarTales any good?Is the DLC worth it? There's so much of it
>>2438704only played the base game and for this price its a stealyou can get easily more than 100 hours out of it
What are some beginning wargames that I should get into? I'm thinking unity of command 2 atm. There's also hex of steel but idk.
tell me what i should buyyyyy
Bought these +Rogue Trader and TWW: Trilogy. Today i'm gonna buy Nobunaga's ambition too.
>>2439173>Someone actually got the EU4 hyper-mega-ultimo bundleGods be good
>>2438704It's good. The dlc adds things but a lot of it is very cheaty.
>>2439138Community of planets pack plus the two dlc is a much better deal
>>2439173Uh, EUV came out why did you do this?
>>2439211I have EU5 Premium edition, i just like EU4 as well
>>2439219Damn anon, tell me the secret to having 48 hours a day.
>>2439248it used to be methnow i just have coffee
>>2437023I haven't played the future Anno games yet, is there any reason to play 2070 when 2205 exists, or is 2205 just an objectively complete upgrade over the previous entry?
>>24393142070 has underwater colonies and is the better all around anno. 2205 launched terribly and most people never liked it. It's probably fine but you can skip them both at this point.
>>2439314they are quite different, in 2070 you play mostly with ships, build on small islands and go underwater later on, very hamfisted environmental propaganda2205 felt like a much larger in scale and you get to colonize the moonI enjoyed both games more than 1800
I'm thinking of buying Gates of Hell Ostfront. Does the base game have enough content on its own?Do you have any recommendations on the DLCs?
it's all slop. The less I buy, the more the industry fails.
The more I buy, the bigger my library of video games. It must never stop growing.
>>2439423Until steam deletes them like Sony
How's Zephon for multiplayer?https://store.steampowered.com/app/1481170/ZEPHON/I want to play it cooperatively with my friends. Does it have simultaneous turns, like Conquest of Elysium?
