Why does the player have to retire after just 25 years anyway? The in-game reason is I haven't had a single game last longer than 20 years but what's the lore reason? Are they canonically already 60+ or something? Commanding ships isn't that intensive. Something that would be cool instead is a health stat that decreases based on time and actions. Getting your ship blown up, especially if the hull breaks apart, should be a pretty big blow to your health for example. That would encourage you to play a bit safer, run reinforced bulkheads, and even transfering off of a ship to pretty much doom it but ensure you aren't on it when it blows up. If crew morale was ever introduced that last one would be the easiest massive morale penalty as well.
>>
>>2439716
I predict the "limit" is going to be meaningless as it's going to be like 100k creds a month to become adeptus mechanicus and become eternal when your volonoes are already collectively making 10 mil a month.
>>
>>2439716
Alex already caved on that issue. Now the retirement cost no longer scales over time. It's purpose is to symbolize that you've beaten the challenge of extended mode (and get you to stop playing because Alex realizes the later stages of his game are mediocre.)
>>

>to symbolize that you've beaten the challenge of extended mode
You can "beat it" by just sitting around doing literally nothing for 25 years. Having the game running in the background for a set amount of time is not an achievement. Then again, in a game with no endgame, what is?

Last I heard about it outside of Mediocre Tuber Videos was some drama where a guy got really mad about ships from Derelict Expansion making that one mission where you divebomb a planet too hard and whining at the dev until it was changed to use a whitelist to placate him.
>>
lol DEX is such a good mod
>>
>>2440109
Did they just not use any mechs or something? DEX ships can be a tough nut to crack but they are at the end of the day shieldless shitters piloted by gammas firing primitive weapons. Most mechs in the mod can easily handle even capital grade ships with hit and run tactics.
>>
>>2440128
This was an autistic sperg even by the standards of this game's community. What triggered the meltdown wasn't even one of the really nasty ones, it was the fat fuck damper cruiser that just sits there and gets shot while other ships try to close on you.

Then he started screaming about how he used the nuke command repeatedly because it wasn't fair or some shit, and proceeded to whine about DEX being OP for like five days.

Fucker got the DEX dev to nerf the damage on the quadcoil-lookalike too somehow, and now the thing does basically no damage to armor. How the fuck do shitters have so much sway in this community?

Ship Mastery System. It lets your ships (and NPC/enemy ships) "level up" and gain perks, and also adds a bunch of exploration content.
>>
Reminder that most people who were crying about needing something like extended mode to prolong the early game also bitch and moan every time they have to actually do early game combat and skip straight to late-game.
For good reason, shit ships with no officers exacerbate the ai and balance issues which are by far the worst parts of the game with hyperspace mechanics being a close second. And i’d be a good opportunity to convince Alex to do something about both if only everyone on the forums took a break from dick-riding him lomg enough to tell him

this
>>2440342

>>
>>2440166
It's mostly down to weapon design. Alex thinks that all weapons must either be overpriced or suck, so you get stuck with dogshit weapons in the early game because early game ships can't mount anything better.

Any mod that gives access to Weapons That Actually Work early game such as the previously mentioned derelict mod make it far more enjoyable.

Though it must also be said that weapons being bad, variants being bad, and ships being bad are all downstream of every enemy in the game having no strategic AI except mashing the Full Assault button after 30 seconds, except for the Threat for some reason.

Make the enemy AI not shit, and suddenly everything else is allowed to improve.

Well, done with another playthrough. Tried using Hivers Swarm, because the idea of fighting back a gigantic army of zerg/tyranids sounded fun.

They got their teeth kicked in.
>>
>>2440827
Main problem with Hivers (besides the obvious) is that it's clearly designed around everyone teaming up against the blatantly galaxy-threatening invaders, but Starsector doesn't work that way from either a lore or gameplay perspective.

It was pretty bad when Diable and Star Federation, my weakest faction mods, were beating them silly and repelling their strongest raiding fleets. There's literally a listing on the ships that have levels in their hullmod section. And on endgame enemy fleets you can see them use level 7 (max level) effects, such as Wolf/Medusa teleporting around with their modified Phase Shift, or Novas getting a shitload of damage resistance. Those are not passive effects you can ignore the existence of, they actually happen right in front of you. You can even modify the NPC fleet level variance in the settings.
But sure, keep pretending you know what you're talking about.
>>
The problem with any mod that increases the s-mod limit is that enemy AI ships will just get random s-mods that may or may not drastically improve the overall functionality of the ship. Meanwhile for the player it allows to optimise insanely OP builds. Same goes with exotica technologies, bionic alteration, and just about any other powercreep mod. They're all very thinly veiled cheatmods.
>>
>>2440896
You don't even need mods for that. Best of the Best is one of the objectively best skills in the game for a reason.
>>
>>2440897
Mods like progressive s-mods and the like allow you to boost ships to upwards of 7 s-mods without the cost of dedicating skill points into a tree. Pretty big difference if you ask me.
>>
>>2440896
Like another anon said earlier, most of the balancing problems stems from the AI just being shit at the game. I don't think it'd be reasonably hard to make late game fleets have specific S-mod setups (some mods already do that with their scripted fleets) so that they don't seem so arbitrary.

to be fair, last I remember the designs are entirely unintuitive, what with the dainty dragonfly being much tankier than that fucking bulky battleship bug and the fucking fighters are the worst with that fucking hyper tankiness and regenerating health on top of having standard weapons and the flux to shoot them constantly.

if your fighters are, on a 1 to 1 basis strong enough to kill omens, you've failed at balance.
>>
While I have no idea whether the masteries actually work for enemy fleets I can safely say Ship Mastery System is a cheat mod for the logistics masteries alone.

An idea came to me in a dream to have each "faction" have 3 tiers of fleets decided by how retarded the fleet's particular admiral(strategic AI) actually is. Decided by the orders he gives, officers he uses, and variants on his ships.
Tier 1 is basically vanilla AI, retarded, full attack dakka mode.
Tier 2 has a core of decent ships with good officer selection that he knows how to use, but the supporting elements are still used poorly. Essentially the fleet has 1 actually scary "fist" but everything else is still kinda ass.
Tier 3 is essentially riced player fleet tier. Optimized officers and ships for a specific playstyle that is then used relentlessly, and you better know how to counter it or space yourself now.

Like tier 1 pirate fleet commander could be just a particularly successful druggie with a life expectancy of 2 more weeks that has a bunch of shit frigates and a couple of armed freighters he just throws at shit.
Tier 2 would be called something like gang boss and be the type of pirate smart enough to survive but not ruthless or cunning enough to thrive. He would have a core of good converted military ships like the Falcon (P), Shade (P) etc that he would keep in formation while he commits his cannon-fodder to the fight hoping to split your fleet up and pick it apart with his actually good ships.
The tier 3 would be something like a Fleet Boss or warlord and do the same as above but with nothing but good, (P) ships and better weights to his decision making.

If i only went into coding rather than business and could write that shit myself, oh well.
>>
>>2441073
A proper tier 3 fleet would rape 99% of players, including (You)
>>
>>2441076
That's the point, by the end-game you have unlimited resources and fleets, might as well have the other factions put up some sort of a fight by having a couple of absolute thug fleets on your level.

>>
>>2441019
Now that I think of it burn drive would prolly be a nerf since the AI is very clever and likes to kamikaze the ship against the enemy while eating fire and burning its engines in the collision (the falcon is made of paper). Given that the ship is capable of a linked six sabot volley (plus 4 in reserve) on the opening attack followed by a couple of reapers/jackhammers and literally no one uses this for end game purposes (the player can also send some distractions ahead to avoid damaging them) I think its an acceptable trade-off for a high rish/high reward low endurance small skirmish ship. Its also 20 DP so...

The problem is aotd is a vibe coded shitmod that has code that attempts to force push an achievement with a singular "does magiclib exist" check that naturally crashes the game if it can't push said achievement.
Or as the dev put it
>for some reason, the AotD dev, rather than handling when the achievement could be null, added code to specifically crash the game if the achievement is null
>and the IDE was probably warning them that it could be null, and they disabled the warning by adding the crash if it's null

Alex is genuinely retarded. I remember a couple years back when the crash code shit was big and in a few mods, Alex categorically refused to do anything until the Lion of Anime girls made a video on the topic.
He truly is Russian in the worst ways, utterly refusing to learn from his mistakes, continually face planting from sheer ego.
>>
>>2441445
This same crash is included when using the stable magiclib on the forum. That's the point. If you disabled achievements aotd would force crash after veil 100 out of 100 times. The fix was to enable achievements just for veil then disable them again. The indev version has had no other issues so far because no other mod was as retardedly vibecoded as aotd.
>>
>>2441455
>This same crash is included when using the stable magiclib on the forum. That's the point.
I cleared the veil of knowledge on the current versions of AOTD and MagicLib without a crash, so that's a lie.
>>
>>2441458
The current version of AOTD includes a fix which was added after the magiclib dev comments above, but it also requires toolbox which was the dev going full retard.

>updated magiclib and not aotd
The only available pre-toolbox version, VOK 4.2.3, does not have the achievement fix.
>>
>>2441455

Too late. In case you weren't aware the code for the damage boost was initially ripped from one of Noahs mod. He had personal issues with certain modders and added it as a hidden damage boost for his Daemon ships against them (and some vanilla ships aswell for some retarded reason). Eventually he pulled the code when Alex stepped in because people were calling him out on his behavior and it was upsetting him (Noah).

As fate would have it the code was saved and transformed into the Buckbreaker damage boost. The irony was when Noah found out about this he had a full on meltdown on the discord about how it was unfair, and called for anyone mentioning or using it to be banned from the discord.

As you can expect, many lols were had.
>>

Colonies are immobile so they force you to remain in one part of the map for a long time to babysit them. The game is supposed to be about space faring like in Endless Sky but instead half of the game becomes an X4 clone for special kids. If there must be a non-space-combat minigame then it should be about equipping, managing, and commanding your crew and your marines, who should be more than just a tradable commodity.

You can see what remains of the "discussion" on the forums regarding his stealthnerfs: https://fractalsoftworks.com/forum/index.php?topic=14935.975 Alex had to prune several pages of back and forths. If you look at the actual buckbreaker code you can see it's heavily inspired by Noah's (screenshot). As for his meltdowns, those are pretty infamous, even in the forum discussion he was ranting back and forth giving various justifications for why what he was doing was acceptable, before back peddling and giving new excuses. It was only when someone called him a schizo and he played victim that Alex shut everything down.

Should also be noted that after the whole event, on multiple occasions, he's asked how to obfuscate code so nobody could see what it was doing, but nobody is willing to help him.

Not sure I like the way Nex implements mining, but the game really is missing some kind of way to implement such a playstyle.
I get that Alex is probably thinking "Oh, but it's a game centered about combat" or "it would mess with the progression of the game", but I don't care.

I think what I would like is for the player to be able to build little "outposts" that function in Asteroid rings, unhabited planets, and other stellar objects. These would function as miniature colonies that allow you to store goods in them for a small monthly sum of credits.
These outposts should be able to be upgraded to function as small industries that slowly collect small amounts of resources produced in the outpost (like ores being produced in an orbital Ring, or Food and Organics in an unhabited Terran world), and the player would then have to visit the outposts manually in order to collect the output of the outposts to take them to sell it in the core worlds.
Later on, the outposts can be upgraded to Colonies and then they can sell their own resources directly as well as grow in population independently from the player.
>>
>>2443158
>Colonies are immobile so they force you to remain in one part of the map for a long time to babysit them
The entire colony crisis system is dumb, colonies should require higher investment up front and minimum afterwards and they should always be profitable.

>I also heard that some trannies make mods for this game and insert hidden malware in them?
Mods you find on the forum are fine. Alex put a stop to the malware shit a long time ago. Now they fester exclusively on Discord. Never grab mods from Discord, even from the official unofficial one.

90% of malware was from modders with a high discord presence. They are collectively known as the discord cabal.

If you're not going to join the discord, a wise move, avoid mod that have patreons, recommend visitng discord for the "latest updates", and have dependencies beyond lazylib/nexus (magiclib and graphics lib dependencies are generally ok but but those two libs are buggy to begin with).

yeah. you can run drugs and heavy weapons to pirates and luddic path if they don't kill you while delivering them. supplies/fuel too but I skip those unless I robbed some trader that had thousands of extra ones. just smack f1 in a civilized system to see the current rates, and go get paid. there's a mod called space truckin' I hear is good, but more bar/military missions gives some convoy missions too
>>
>>2443718
Fuel and supplies can be worth selling to TT or Heg in the contested systems where they fight a lot. Really bad raiding can make a planet desperate for food too and there's always somewhere in the sector with a surplus of that.
>>
>>2443718
I had a wild thought earlier that is somewhat fitting to bring up now.
Starsector really should have civilians as commodities.
Now, hear me out.
Stuff like the starliner exists, we see npc fleets flying transport duties, one quest is a transport mission, and the luddic pilgrims are transport missions as well. But we never really get to transport people. The starliner mentions how much better it is than the nebula to fly on, but what effect does that even have? The crew don't benefit, marines don't benefit, that's all we ever put in there. Where are the cruises? Transports, vacations, refugees, immigrants. Give us civilians that care about the quality of life onboard a ship. hullmods that increase the skeleton crew requirements and maintenance costs but also the quality of life on a ship, the higher the quality of life the more money or rep you get. Also give us a cruise ship type capital civilian transport that costs a stupid amount of supplies but has an equally stupid quality of life.
The framework for all of this would also allow a future really good crew loyalty system as well. Imagine convincing your crew to have their families live on the giant cruise ship, skyrocketing loyalty and reducing crew costs as they can always visit their loved ones.

It would also allow dropping civilians into a black hole. For warcrime maxxers.

I'll give you a couple of popular mods to avoid because they bloat your game and add unnecessary janky shit:
Ship/Weapon Pack: bloat
Tahlan,:massive, directionless bloat (if Legio were to be separated from the main mod and "fixed" they would actually be a pretty good faction mod)
All other ship packs: pure trash + bloat
Any mod by King Alfonzo is to be avoided mainly because of the performance issues, both in the campaign layer and when fighting their fleets.

Look for the lines:
damage.setDamage(damage.getDamage()*6f);
damage.setDamage(damage.getDamage()*2f);
The 6f and 2f are the damage multipliers, change them to whatever you feels right 1f will be no damage change, 1.5f will be 1.5x damage and 0.5f will be half damage.

It won't change the multiplier as shown in the tooltip though, that's at the bottom of the same file.

AOTD makes the economy 'real" with actual demand and production, but that leads to other problems. The current merchant/pirate systems aren't enough to cause shortages, so there's no room for player interaction. Forced randomness is necessary.
Starsector will never get an economy overhaul because Alex is too lazy to do any major changes.
>>
>>2446502

ok how about this
>much heavier pirate presence in hyperspace
>pirate and trade activity vary with each other based on various factors rather than set timers
>pirates can demand a portion of a fleet's cargo or freighter ships rather than it being 100% life or death
>this can cause limited/singular shortages of some items for colonies rather than massive ones
>interacts with shielded cargo holds, some pirates may instead demand your ships with that hullmod rather than your other freighters
>players can of course do all of this too
>story point allows you to sneakily load less valuable cargo onto those ships rather than your more valuable/illegal cargo that would logically be on those ships
>factions will solve in-system shortages much quicker - no more fuel shortages on volturn
why do any of this? i don't know
>>

>>
>>2446906
I wonder if C-Beams will be good for this, but judging by the trailer it doesn't look like it will let you move the focus away from combat
>>
>>2446917
In the X games you play as a single ship, but you can give orders to others.
In Starsector you play as a fleet of ships outside of combat.
Trading in X is about going to where supply is highest and selling it where the demand is highest, trading in Starsector is about plugging a hole in a supply chain that has broken for some reason.
X lets you create a trading empire with hundreds of independent ships, starsector lets you start a colony you have to babysit for it to barely produce enough money to upkeep your own fleet.
>>
>>2446906
You can travel around and trade with others, but it's fairly simple and not the focus. Trade primarily exists to fund your combat and exploration.

Missions tailor to your remaining capacity in seats and cargo so it always feel good to pick it up instead of the retarded ramping up and cooling down based on last completion that punishes you as soon as you do too much or too little of that mission and now you can't have you fill.
Maps shows stuff prices, and mission destination of existing ones or available to take on instead of frantically going over text wall and options to pick up mission.
Much larger civilized world to navigate and travel end to end.
Not bad flavor text in events about material needed for earth day parade and farmer moving home to new colony as to something foul david would serve you with.

X3 is subdivided into X3, X3: Terran Conflict and X3: Albion Prelude, all set slightly further into the timeline. I'd recommend X3: Terran Conflict or X3: Albion Prelude (or the X3:AP mod that adds X3:TC plots making it one long game).
X4: Foundations has a bunch of DLC that add to the main game, with a feature that DLC can be added in an existing game without problems.

The big difference between the two is probably that you can walk around and outside your ship in X4 while in X3 you're stuck in the cockpit view. Gives ships a more pronounced sense of scale.

X4 has a more detailed station building system where the player attaches modules to each other while in X3 the stations were large one piece deployments that could be linked via tubes.

X3 has more ships and they're more varied while X4 has the ships follow constraints that limits their shape, accounting to fighters landing on small pads and medium ships landing on medium pads and generally have spaces for crews to walk around in. Ships in X3 are more detailed in some ways, cargos have 5 possible sizes while in X4 they're either containers/solid/liquid. There's no passenger liners or large scale passenger missions in X4, but it still does have 'taxi type missions.

With DLCs X4 is roughly the same size as X3 in sectors, roughly the same with factions too.

The interface in X4 is better than the one in X3, though if you're willing to do the learning curve for X3's 90's style spreadsheet dropdown menus you can do things more quickly in that one.

Overall I'd recommend X4 for new players, it's easier to learn with better tutorials.

You just suck at using the commands.
In this game, your troops aren't dumb suicidal leeming, they can't defend a point if they are dead.
Since you are usually outnumbered, moving back is the only way to not take damage

So what?

Here's the trick:
USE THE ELIMINATE ORDER along the DEFEND order and select the most troublesome enemies.

It will look like magic, your closest ships will focus fire on the same target, since said target will overload your fleet will be under less pressure and able to move forward.
Yep, that's it.
The secret is that left to themselves AIs spread their firepower too much to overload their enemies.
Thought, the Eliminate order does tell them to take more risks, meaning you risk loosing ships if you select too many target at once.

Done right you can use the Defend and a separate Move orders to flank the enemies from the side/rear.
Even one ship is enough to fuck up enemies as nearly all ships have directional shield. Trying to face to side at once will weaken and fracture their line.

You built and sustained a fleet by fighting nigger faggots that take your shit and took their shit.
Now here comes a fleet of nigger faggots going to take your shit again because they think you stole their market.
Go ahead, kill the nigger faggots and take their shit, not just their fleet, bomb and raid their planets too until the nigger faggots no longer comes out.
It is on you btw that you didn't do that to nigger faggots as soon as you can before they do.

The part I object to in the colony crisis is that they summon massive fleets into existence with the handwave that the fleets you normally see in game are just a fraction of what's 'really there'.

Wouldn't be so bad if they had to be drawn from existing fleets.

I like that they each have their own solutions. Though if I was to rework the colony system I'd require population increases to require physical civilian/colonist movements from planet to planet, with negotiations or resources expended on setting up the population transfers. That and the ability to plop down a waystation or warehouse anywhere.
>>
>>2447591
>>2447763
The reason colony crises are shit is because they're a one off quest chain that doesn't really make long-term colony management interesting. You beat down the scripted hedge and persian fleets and then what? You're back to square one of the colonies just being a bunch of non-content.
>>
>>2447773

>>
>>2447774
What's the point of farming AI cores? Alex is a retarded dipshit who is too afraid to reward it by letting you field an alpha core fleet because UHHH THAT WOULD BE TOO OP AS A REWARD FOR CLEARING THE ENDGAME IN THIS SINGLE PLAYER GAME NO COMBAT READINESS FOR YOU. Nor is there any point in farming the cores for your colonies because there's fuck all to do with the colonies anyway. I guess you can just farm them to see how many you can stash away into storage before you get bored of this garbage game.

>Have you considered creating some fluff for the independent planets? Like new planets or systems?
The angry periphery already exists, it adds four vanilla+ systems, it used to come bundled with the KoC but it's now a little outdated: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1cJf7uEe-gfNrVWYrVLtig9wkD0__Eyg5
A good chunk of the systems were taken from posts that were made here. For example, Cess, it's a toxic water world (a cess-pool if you will) that's been closed to immigration, i.e "pool's closed".

>Also, would you consider integrating Koc with ludds and lions
I considered it and decided against it in favor of a more curated experience. I've previously pulled content across but it's far too easy to throw shit in the pot and end up with a shit stew. There's some mods out there where individual factions have more ships than than the entire vanilla roster!
>>
>>2447869
i dont start colonies at all anymore and find the game very enjoyable just exploring to find ships and weapons i have not used before to do combat with

Colonies should start at size 1 and be extremely hard to grow, with you essentially being treated as just another pirate until you hit size 3 where you get the option to become an independent that signs most of its rights(income) away in exchange for being ignored by every faction but pirates or become an actual faction like you normally do with growth to 4, 5, and 6 being locked behind pirate, church/diktat, and league/hegemony crises with each only unlocking on their respective tier.

>>
>>2448203
It's all shit
>>
>>2448203
Every time I build a colony it starts out a massive money sink where I overextend making 2 or 3 planets worth of colonies in the same system so I can cover all my "necessary" imports. Usually 6 or so million later they start to actually turn a profit and grow. And if you don't use ai cores the amount of bullshit you gotta defend it from is minimal. Eventually if you have a good enough, low hazard rating planet (below 175%) it'll start printing money. The main appeal in this weird transitional period is that you can buy fuel and supplies from your own colonies' reserves wholesale.

As for exploring, unless you're rolling around with a very tiny fleet exploring won't keep you afloat. Bounties are much more lucrative but at least exploration can be done along the way with that too.

I do like the periphery systems, my only autismo issue with periphery is that it has a neutron star right in the center of the main core worlds which would pretty much microwaving everyone alive (though the random sector generation also does this so it's a very minor complaint). Regardless, have you considered making the periphery star more further afield (maybe on the edge of the abyss to live up to it's name's sake?) to be more of a challenging pilgrimage for the ultra hardcore luddic to reach? Perhaps then there could be a way for an enterprising captain to offer a cruise liner service to these faithful souls for a fair few credits...

Fair enough with Koc and ludds, it's pretty nice desu that there is at least one modder that I can interact with as an equal human without having to enter some faggoty discord dictatorship filled with dick sucking and ego stroking.

>>
>>2448717
>with lowtech still having more crew but also lower wages because they are "easier to operate"
If hazard pay exists for SO ships then this should be the opposite. low tech should have the highest wages as it's the most likely to take hull damage, with mid being middle and high being the lowest as they are far safer to crew due to the superior shields.

the crew salary stat is ship-specific rather than tech-specific, so they might get bumped up salaries, and regarding the diktat's special modifications, alex is a hack fraud and says that it wouldn't affect crew salaries because increasing crew salaries means admitting that there's a problem to begin with
when someone mentioned tying that to having a diktat commission (i.e. if you're commissioned by the diktat, special modifications doesn't increase crew salary) he said that he likes the idea but probably won't do it

i'd imagine it's moreso hazard pay for basic labor and maintenance rather than for combat situations

I'd just like to interject for a moment. What you're referring to as Java is, in fact, LWJGL JNI/Native using C OpenGL and OpenAL libraries, or as I've recently taken to calling it, Java/LWJGL.

Java is not a rendering or audio system unto itself, but rather another frontend component of a fully functioning native graphics and audio stack made useful by the Lightweight Java Game Library's JNI bindings, the OpenGL rendering API, and the OpenAL audio API.

Many users run a modified version of this stack every day without realizing it. Through a peculiar turn of events, the Java portion is often called simply "Java," and many of its users are not aware that it is fundamentally relying on native C libraries underneath.

There really is a Java, and these people are using it, but it is only one part of the system they use. Java is the virtual machine and language runtime: the component that executes bytecode. The rendering commands are processed by OpenGL. The audio is handled by OpenAL. The bridge between them is LWJGL's JNI layer, which transfers execution from managed Java code into native C implementations.

Java alone cannot issue OpenGL commands directly, nor does it magically produce hardware-accelerated graphics or positional audio. It depends crucially on LWJGL's native bindings and the underlying C libraries. Therefore, calling the entire application "Java" is technically inaccurate. You're really referring to a native OpenGL/OpenAL application with a Java frontend.

So if you insist on technical precision, what you're referring to as Java is actually LWJGL JNI/Native using C OpenGL and OpenAL libraries.

So the impetus for this thought process was: how do I make destroyers not useless in larger fights against anyone not a pirate or end-game fleets? Towards the endgame almost all my destroyers end up doing is costing supplies and crew losses, especially since they just love to get bursted down and explode if they try to move out from behind a bigger ship their supposed to be escorting, oh they also they just love body blocking shots too. Looking at the combat destroyers the only ones that don't look like crew coffins and supply blackholes are Condors. The game engine has a hard cap of 0.05s tick limit which is why speeding it up effectively nerfs weapons attempting to fire faster than that (and beams which calculate damage per tick i.e every 0.05s).
The only way around it would is to recalculate damage for weapons that would exceed this amount and increase individual shot strength accordingly, which would add overhead and mess with armour damage calculations. Or completely rebuild the game engine...

Problem is your hook is still limited by the ticks. >relocate the colonies to a different system and have the system be a fun hidden easter egg with an uncolonised luddic shrine same as killa. It could literally be on any edge of the system so long as it lives up to it's name.
While I'm not totally against the idea, that's something to look at further down the line.
>Also, why does randis have a planetary shield? No true luddic would ever utilise such a work of mammon.
Do you doubt Ludds will, you would remove the very core of our crest from our standard! Ludd's Ward exists to protects the world from ravaging so that his followers may exist in virtue.

You missed the iPad/Tri-pad reference for what it is. Even today, with a little marketing people will happily pay top dollar for a new version of the same slop they already have in their pocket. Do you really think Tri-Tachyon are above pulling the same trick?

So let's say Alex drops the new update soon, let's say tomorrow for math, how long do you think it will take for the first few major bugfix hotfixes to drop and all the major mods to update? I suspect most of the QOL mods won't need anything more than a .json change, but ones like Nex or ones with story hooks like PAGSM?

This game is so fucking dead, the longer the fucker waits with steam release the more and more the modders will keep leaving and make it even more dead. Literally the most retarded developer out there. Fucking weebs ruin everything.

I heard about the game this year and bought it, it's funnily enough one of the games where the game is so good that it is worth it to persevere the political retardation of the dev. However the whole "Super cool UNBEATABLE UNBOMBABLE PIRATE LORD KANTA TO WHICH YOU HAVE TO BOW", "super cool brown mystery meat ebin woman hacker", "super cool asian woman scientist", "super cool technical lover of the super cool woman scientist", and the "super cool academy science woman" in form of 50 pages text dump to which you can only agree and tag a long was really hard to swallow.

Seriously why can’t I just behead kanta in a 84,000 marine raid and install the head in my colony’s military base for the same anti-piracy effect? At least give us an option to scare kanta into declaring us untouchable if she’s really so necessary for the plot. Add some scary fuckin’ defence fleets around her den either way so the violent option is actually risky and worth thinking twice about. Right now she’s a just a hobo pulling a pair of scissors on you for your pocket change when you’ve got a .40 in your waistband.
>>
>>2451240
Why not make her useful so the player wants to keep her alive? The player can offer her a favour of her choosing, why not let her trade cash or favours too?
>Hey kanta, sell you this radiant for your home fleet, 400,000 absolute steal (500,000 1sp)
>Hey kanta noticed you shivering a little, wanna buy an orbital fusion lamp?
>Hey kanta I’ll pay you 1,000,000 to counter raid tri-spack for me (double-dare 1sp)
>>
>>2451242
I’m onto something here. Kanta being a genuine asset you can give tipoffs too would be narratively perfect. Kazeron launching a blockade? Heggers launching an ‘inspection’ armada? Church attempting a takeover? Sindria protecting their monopoly? That means fewer ships at home, time for a raid! It would justify Kanta’s presence as a stabilising force in the sector, none of the major powers can make a big move against each-other because it’ll become a 1v2.

I'm enjoying the trend of 'modders incorporate newly introduced thing to their mods' (in this case stargazer and it's related hullmod/gear to the THREAT/Shroud's hullmod/gear relation), like how mining blaster, Breach missiles, and [SUPER ALABASTER] added 'extra fixed damage to armor' with 'fancy, dark, spacetime rupturing VFX' for the latter, and modded gear with similar stuff started showing up
the encounter theme is nice too and looking up the theme made me realize that some of the music in the creator's channel match the skill names in stargazer SiC skills which is interesting

First they try and convince you to join them
Then they bitch and moan because you didn't bend to their whims
People will play your mod ironically and post about how "it's actually quite good"
At which point the discord goes in to overdrive trying to surpress you
All their drama serves to boost your popularity
Finally, when you've made it big they'll start banning anyone who discusses your mod.

Riddle me this:
Why would you SO mk3 when mk2 has it built in with hammer barrage too?
Why would you spent 45 op on doubling the performance of 10 op left for small ballistics when it is actually one of the cheapest flight deck in game provided by yours truly pirates.
Why do you start pedantic argument over the appeal of things you don't care to know about? You dakka fags know nothing about dakka with your autoloading pea shooters when piranha wings are jettisoning powder kegs by kicking them out of the cargo hold with their legs, hoping it to land a shot in space. That is why it is a 2 crew bomber, one of them drive and the other kick. That is why the bombs comes out once every second and takes 10 seconds to empty. That is why it costs 10 op for 3 wings, carrying 10 bombs each.
>>
speaking of the mk2, if you use ship+weapon pack, you should edit data/variants/colossus/swp_colossus2_mod.variant so it doesn't have that gayass 'extreme modifications' shit built-in. he did it to the prometheus mk2 as well for some equally gay reason

Because it would be nice if most Pirate ships weren't just straight garbage. Both from the gameplay perspective of fun and build diversity, and to make the lore of pirates being able to have lairs within a cunt's hair of the major factions CAPITAL PLANETS and NOT be utterly eradicated with minor effort even though they are a rag tag group of assholes whose ships need 3x the volume in DP to match military equivalents.
Should a 4D-Mod Colossus Mk3 be able to take on an eagle? Definitely not.
Should there be a viable playstyle that utilizes them or a way to make them perform with a lot of s-mods and effort? Absolutely and Alex is retarded by not having one.

A normal dev would make pirates have fun asymmetrical gimmicks like deploying mine-fields, giving them ships with powerful weapons that are somehow extremely limited in how they can be utilized, like making the Atlas have 4 large ballistic slots BUT making them only point to 1 specific broadside etc.
But nooo Pirates are the predators of the Persean Sector who no-one can root out because... they are just fucking retarded and their ships are just terrible? Yeah great

pretty much. pirates are only a threat with LTA installed because they get (shocker) generally less-trashy ships and actual capitals. the mk2 is basically a light cruiser with large mounts and the colossus mk3 is a frigate with a front-shield, two bays, and terrible top speed. whether or not that faggot agrees is irrelevant. Alex designed pirates and luddic path (a.k.a., fuck you we still get built-in SO and you don't, but our ships randomly break and lose every fight unless you hurl money at them to remove our faction-specific d-mod) like shit. at least he didn't cripple the prometheus mk2 as badly. it's pretty decent for belonging to a nerfed faction, although a conquest will just rip it to shreds without serious investment
>>
>>2453405
8<15dp
Pirates have combat cruiser that is falcon (p) with missile spam, and groups of Colossus mk3 do provide fighter decks for cheap. Optimum atlas mk2 usage is 4+ of them doing pure large missile spam way beyond the range of even ITU gauss so bad stats is never an issue. The 2 large ballistics are converging and has autoloader system, so it can also do ITU Gauss to out range other capitals. Most of the time it would be devastators blowing fighters to pieces.
Other (p) variants are bad to serviceable. The combat freight ships all have free shielded cargos. If you want better ships, kill better enemies and P ships will happily serve as the stepping stone to get you nicer ships. None of the unconventional tactics plays out in sim battle duels.

It literally can if i ambush you with it, that's the whole point of insurgencies. Durkas have been blowing up humvees with cobbled together explosives wired to a Nokia for the past 15 years so it's not implausible that Pirates would be able to put up a fight and produce viable if inferior weapons from cobbled together surplus/salvaged military equipment and free-market civilian ships. Civilian shuttles use anti-matter for fuel in this universe and it's literally ubiquitous, imagine IEDs made from that.
>>2453433
Niggers don't have the ruins of the most advanced civilization in human history to pick over along with 3D nano-printing machines.
And if (you) can get military grade warships sold to you by a random idiot in some random bar then Kanta sure can too.

Hence my point, Pirates should not be able to fight head on, or be able to only with huge losses. Instead they should get mechanics and ship systems that enable them to fight in different ways like staying out of range, utilizing asteroids, mines, ambush tactics etc.
Also, go back.

another gundam mod has some really op shit in it, this one from red stripe knights which has a translation to a degree
adds in mainly shit from zeta gundam stuff like the woundwort and variants

Pirates have decent enough ships except for a distinct lack of fleet anchors. Giving them Moras is a quick and lore-friendly fix. They just need something that can survive a beating while the other ships do their thing.

Whining about pirates being weak is like whining about looters and forest bandits being too weak in Warband.

0.75 has semibreves that will one shot just about anything it hits if it gets past the shield.
I don't know if that's the nerfed version or not since I haven't messed with them since, if that's the nerfed version then that's a hehe xd moment.

what's almost as rigged is the taufan bombers fire minibreves. 2-3 of those fighters and shit is just dead
