Say if the zerg would assault the earth right now, could all the armies in the world unite and stop them?
>>2440553no obviously not
>>2440553Yes. The Chinese would literally eat them alive.
>>2440649Zerg noodles with spring onion.
I mean we have nukes, so ...
>>2440649kek
idk, how tough are they? they look pretty fleshy but who knows. what's the toughest animal you can think of? polar bears? rhinos? hippos? elephants? can an army withstand a stampede by a million on those? are modern military tactics effective against an enemy like that?AA seems like it'd do well against mutas, shit like naval CIWSs and bofors guns and tunguskas seems like it'd easily chew through flocks of them
A small group of Zerg would be easy to deal with by a modern military, but the fact that there are basically infinite of them and they're coming from space would mean that we'd simply get overwhelmed.
>>2440835https://youtu.be/coWNNOslxlM>exoskeleton clad marines shooting 50cal at zerglings in a barrel doesn't stop them>scifi tanks scoring a direct hit doesn't do shit to an ultralisk>a giant space battleship larger than dozens of aircraft carriers comes crashing downyou're right though they don't have bofors
>>2440855that's just a videogame, we're talking about real life here
If zerg base functions IRL at ingame speed - no, absolutely not, we're cooked, whole planet, in two, three days
>>2440553>>if the zerg would assault the earth right now, could all the armies in the world unite and stop them? How many Zerg are assaulting? In what way?Just a zerg base appears with a Hatchery, 8 drones, 8 mineral nodes and 2 geyser nodes?Or an entire space-borne swarm of trillions of space traveling Zerg biomorhps suddenly pops out of a moon sized wormhole and begins to descend upon Earth releasing thousands of zerg fliers each? (mind you lore isn't even exactly clear on how Zerg do Interstellar space travel or how they even get off from a planet other than LOL SPACE ALIENS!)If the former then we are fine, unless maybe is Serral is in control of the hive but even like that I wouldn't bet on him.In the latter case, we are absolutely fucked like "GAME OVER MAN! GAME OVER!" super-duper fucked. Just launching every nuke imaginable and nuking the entire planet would likely be a better option than resisting, at least that will save most humanity from infestation by granting a merciful death. But most current politicians and billionaires would likely just immediately join the Zerg willingly for thge smallest of chance that they be spared and then will even try to convince humanity that resistance is futile and being part of Zerg hivemind is our true destiny etc. and the tentacles are fine and we should totally trust them.
>>2440553>could all the armies in the world uniteyou know that the answer to this will always be "no"anything else is irrelevantzerg would eat this planet wholesale and move on
>>2440835>are modern military tactics effective against an enemy like that? You are missing 2 things. 1) The zerg would be commanded by a hivemind (or a group of hivemind agents) that are capable of understanding the enemy and the enemy's capabilities, while also devising elaborate long term plans to combat them. And then telepathically controlling large groups of their creatures and commander them on an almost instant communication and feedback, no need for reporting confirmation or chance of false information and reacting to changing battlefield conditions is also almost immediate. This would be everything but a rampaging herd of dumb animals.2) Our entire real life military doctrine has been built to fight other humans, including other armies and countries. From the very foundation human enemies have been the basis of everything. Zerg would be a completely alien opponent that is not even from this planet so we have absolutely no data about them. They would not even be something like Earth-born animals we would not even have that little information on them and their capabilities and biology. We could only guesstimate that they are something similar since they use claws and walk on legs like bugs but we would have zero information about the extent of which bioform can do what. Let alone when being commanded with real intelligence. Now depending if these Zerg already fought the Terran Dominion or not they could already be familiar with humans. But even if they never encountered humans yet they have seen many other planets and conquered numerous species that survived in hostile environments, some may have been intelligent civilizations like the Protoss, so the zerg will have afar greater experience and understanding in dealing with us then us dealing with them.Besides we couldn't even win the notorious Emu wars...
>>2440855>weird assed cinematicI mean those siege tanks don't seem to be putting out any more firepower than a modern artillery piece. A world war 1 style army with literally 10s of thousands of artillery could put out orders of magnitude more ordnance than we see there. Not to mention just launch nukes. We got a lot of them
>>2441446>Not to mention just launch nukes. We got a lot of themTerran Dominion also had Nukes, that didn't give them a decisive advantage.
>>2441519That's because Mengsk is only good at nuking Korhal, only Warfiled put 2 and 2 together and said, hey, we could use mass nukes on other planets besides Korhal
>>2441519zerg have plot armor
>>2441556Everyone in Starcraft had plot armor how is that even relevant?
>>2441562zerg's plot armor kept them from getting nuked or glassed by the protoss every time
>>2441446That's so absurdly arbitrary. They cause a firey explosion multiple storeys high with each shot and considering they do bonus vs armored it's fair to assume they fire some kind of anti-armor rounds.>just nuke the whole planet broYou're just being a faggot retard if you're pretending that ordnance in starcraft is weaker than irl. Look at the armor everyone wears and the size of their rifles. It takes half a dozen marauder rockets to take down a roach and even more for a hydralisk. Even a zergling survives numerous shots and explosions.Plus just look at the Protoss. Are you gonna say some retarded shit like humanity could beat them? They struggled with the zerg.
>>2441446This is exactly what I talked about when I said that we look at things from the point of view of fighting humans. A Zerg invasion on Earth would not be just another Starcraft game. Where we have an open battlefield of human tanks comfortably shooting cannons at mindlessly charging melee zerglings from a safe distance. If there is one thing that zerg have been show to be the best at is adapting to operating in vastly different natural environments. They would intelligently recognize that humans are concentrated mostly on the land and in temperate environments and thus would take over environments with the least human resistance. Namely, the oceans which cover 2/3 of the planet. They will likely be able to quickly adapt to underwater environments, since this is their biggest thing and deep sea wildlife offers plenty of genetic templates for them to engineer bioforms for this purpose and disappear under the water, establish bases under the deep sea and ocean waters and search for raw materials. (If Earth even has the necessary minerals Zerg need to produce more Zerg is a different question but let us assume it does.)This is where things get problematic for humanity, because with all the nukes we have got they were all designed to hit land targets from far away. We simply cannot nuke blindly into all the oceans. Our satellite tech cannot make high detailed photographs under the cover of water. That is provided that the Zerg do not destroy our entire satellite network immediately as soon as they emerge from space. We have navies, ships and nuclear submarines yes but even those are few and far between and were all created with the objective to hide and attack surface targets. We need to modify vast amounts of nuclear weapons to serve as deep sea bombs but those will take time and still be few and far between. And the Zerg will be expecting this, they won't just sit still, they will start to stalk and hunt all ships to try and confine us to the dry land.
>>2441580cont.The other thing Zerg are notoriously good at is digging, burrowing underground which they obviously need to be able to do to extract minerals in the first place. This means zerg can travel underground, where our satellites (provided our satellites are still functional) and air recon cannot see them. You cannot Nuke something underground you cannot see. Humanity would need to develop entirely new seismic sensory capabilities that can detect zerg underground movement and tunneling and would need to start surveying even the most desolate areas before we can even thinking of blindly dropping nukes. This is tunneling signals by alien creatures that we have no idea about the digging mechanism they use. Zerg would have free reign to build their underground hive networks in far off unpopulated areas like deserts, mountains, arctic regions without us noticing.Saying "Launch all the Nukes" will simply not solve this problem. We have a lot but not enough to just glass the whole planet. And even if we had enough to glass the whole planet then we would also be glassing ourselves as well.
>>2441568>uses gameplay abstractions for his argument
>>2441568>>2441580>fire round>the only thing that dies is a few zerg caught directly in the blast>despite upwards trajectory on the cannon they seem to only go like a kilometrenigger, a modern artillery shell has a lethal radius like dozens of meters across and can be shot like 30km.>but the zerg are hyper durable super evolved space marines with carapace and blah blahIt's canonical that a zergling can be killed by getting hit with a jeep going slower than high way speed.
>>2441640>said like a half dozen times in one sentencesorry, I just woke up
>>2441590>>2441640>aliens which scourge the galaxy and btfo highly advances intergalactic races would be beaten by modern weapons>anyone who disagrees is the idiotyeah we would beat the protoss too>>2441580nigger did you miss them crash landing? the zerg defeat literal interplanetary spaceships they would have total air superiority
>>2441662we'd be fine if the zerg get no upgrades and the protoss don't have charge unlocked and aren't great at blink micro
>>2440553A real Zerg assault from space would be a decisive defeat for Earth even if we used all of our nukes. On the other hand we might stand a chance if you only give the Zerg some starting units on Earth but it depends how quickly we can detect them and if the people in charge correctly identify how serious the threat is.
>>2441662>btfo highly advances intergalactic racesrealistically the protoss can just go glass every zerg planet including char but they don't for plot convenience.
>>2441662>highly evolved intergalactic races>like the space rednecks killing zerg by accident while driving around drunklol, lmao.
>>2441674A Zergling in game and in the included cinematics are shown to take up to a hundred rounds of depleted uranium ammunition from a gauss rifle without penetrating the carapace. The Zergling that get hit by a jeep has no visible injuries, it simply rolls over, followed by an ambush on the Terrans who stop their vehicle to investigate.Given that Zerg units are directed by higher minds and the known strength of their carapace it's more likely that the Zergling ran in front of the car and rolled over as a ruse to stop the vehicle and facilitate the ambush.Retarded faggot have you even played the game?
>>2441715in game how many marine rifle rounds can a battlecruiser take before being shot down? probably fewer than a real life naval cruiser desu, i think we can stomp the starcraft universe
>>2441715I wonder what a few deplete uranium 120mm shells could do to an overlord considering a single marine is enough to kill one in only a few seconds
>>2440553Them absorbing Ganges water will do the job.
>>2441662>nigger did you miss them crash landing? the zerg defeat literal interplanetary spaceships they would have total air superiorityOh I am not doubting this at all, I am just offering even more ideas and ways that the Zerg could simply just outmaneuver present day human armies even if somehow the number of Zerg forces that arrive are somehow insufficient in number to simply face tank all of Earth's nukes. You could say I am giving a scenario where present day humanity gets their own thin layer of plot armor.
