>Paradox gave numerous dlcs and updates to pagans >"look pagans are playable and cool now">most pagans are unreformed>aka, no medic; no stone buildings; no forts; no cities nor ports; no loyal to your ethnic gods; can't demand conversion; no holy wars>secret cults to revive them and reformation blitzkriegs are carried ALWAYS by the player, AI pagans, former pagans or sympathetic non-pagans will do nothing>if you reform, the only heresy is the unreformed version>secret evil cults are just "le satanic cult" but with pagan names, same crap just renamed>"you're the High God" means nothing, another nothingburger >your non-pagan characters that help revived your dead religion through secret cults aren't remember, another nothingburger >syncretism is just "have sympathy" not a real hybridization mechanics>aztecs, turks and mongols lost their pagan zealotry after a few years of their expansion; aka, another nothing happens>"reformed by default" pagans (dharmics) >same crap that above, except they have medic, stone buildings and portsAlso, for some reason>"generic pagans" exist>also exist a "meeting the Primordial (Lovecraftian) Gods" quest that is another nothingburgerThe whole roleplay means nothing.I can't believe that Paratard make abrahamic religions more chilling and fun than the whole pagan world (aka, an umbrella term for ALL the non-abrahamic religions). You can't even roleplay as an "atheist with X religious background" (atheist christian, atheist greco-roman, atheist hindu, etc), at best you get the "cynic" trait, which does nothing except make your religious friends hate you (forget about roleplaying as a member of the Cynic School, CK2 is not that deep).
>>2443401i agree that pagans in ck2 were kind of weak but this was balanced by giving unreformed pagans huge modifiers. For example the slavic pagan land offers almost no supply for foreign armies and so causes massive attrition. Germanic pagans must be in a constant state of war or the vassals get pissy, the inverse of Christian gameplay. Zunist pagans (ck2 only) also get a massive attrittion and defensive bonus, as well as some unique events and decisions>societiesEveryone but me hated these apparently. I still miss the Hermetic Society from CK2. I loved getting the handgun and glasses. I miss the magic and fantasy elements. >generic pagansLiterally just meant to be a placeholder. It covered everyone from Irish characters pre-catholicism to arab characters pre-islam. there is no playable generic pagan character and no county of that faithTry Crusader Kings 3. they overhauled religions and made the pagan reformation way more customizable. The AI reforms paganism way more often than they ever did in CK2
>>2443445>The AI reforms paganism way more often than they ever did in CK2So ck2 is still better? Damn when did they release 3, pretty sure it was a while ago now
>>2443456i thought you were complaining about the AI not reforming paganism..? Yeah a few years ago now. Arguably Ck2 IS better because Ck3 runs like a fucking upside down bottle of molasses in dead winter. When it doesn't crash, or blue screen your PC. I have had so many tech problems with CK3, but when I can play it it's pretty good I guess
>>2443445>slavic paganThe first to fall to cuckstianity or pisslam.>Zunist pagans>Germanic pagansAs it is said in OP, forget about its AI characters create secret cults to revive the religions once the abrahamics start to become weak and degenerates.>It covered everyone from Irish characters pre-catholicism to arab characters pre-islam.Imagine the infinite roleplay if they were actually implemented (ex: pagan Allah vs muslim Allah).>Try Crusader Kings 3. They overhauled religions and made the pagan reformation way more customizable. The AI reforms paganism way more often than they ever did in CK2.I wanted that in CK2, I don't want to buy another game if the previous one still is unfinished and bugged af.If only there were at least achievement-compatible mods that enabled all these CK3 improvements.
>>2443474Dude, CK2 overhaul mods like 'After the End' or 'WTWSMS' still are shit with pagans, both unreformed and reformed.I swear, how can you people enjoy CK2? It is still not only unfinished, but bugged and boring af (ex: repetitive, spam-notifications, same quests and events, etc.) most of the time.
>>2443961Why are you using ck3 complaints for ck2?
>Play Slavic Pagans>Continually raid the Karlings every time they go to war, scooping up all of their gold and using it to build up Praha>Slowly amass a legend and go subjugating the other slavic pagans or outright conquering the ones who dare to go Christian>Eventually get three of the holy sites, reform the religion>Finish conquering all the slavic territories, now at a loss of what to doI mean, I could paint the map entirely slavic, but what's the point?
>>2443401>AI pagans, former pagans or sympathetic non-pagans will do nothinghistorically accuratehow many pagan countries exist in europe today, anon?
>>2443401Where you been? The agenda has been anti-christian for 20+ years.
>>2444034Imagine if CK2 added ChatGPT or some other AI to create an actual autogenerated immersive fun roleplay unique to each campaign, from the beginning to the end.
>>2444045>historically accurate >CK2 Pick one.Pagan AI that is not retarded and actual fight and manipulate to survive, reform and triumph would be cool af.
>>2443401Are you really surprised that a game called Crusader Kings focuses on Christianity and Islam over other religions?
>>2444439Anon, you are talking about CK1. CK2 based most of its hype in pagans.
>>2443401I remember playing pagans before the first pagan dlc was out. By editing save file you could do it.Also, these days there are mods that allow you play with non dynastic hairs, which is cool and you can disable matrilineal bullshit and don't care if you only have daughters and have organic pass over of dynasties. I think in theory you could also play land republics and theocracies too with that mod, but pdox niggers probably hard coded those, for some reason.Anyway, CK2 was the only pdox map painter I cared for, because it had a roleplay aspect. But I got burned out by it, played too much. Maybe I will try CK3 some day.
>>2444466>but pdox niggers probably hard coded those, for some reason.Do you have any link for those mods?>Anyway, CK2 was the only pdox map painter I cared for, because it had a roleplay aspect. But I got burned out by it, played too much. I'm burnout too (specially with the spam-notifications of things that happen in the other side of the map and I don't care). What about EU4 and HOI4, are they good? Can you roleplay properly?
>>2444470https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2809539713https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=472394596There was maybe another one, but I forget it. >EU4 and HOI4I am not interested in those time periods much, they don't have character focus either, didn't play them.
>>2444474Thanks anon, it's kinda shitty behaviour you can't unlock achievements if you have mods, not even CA is that asshole.>they don't have character focus eitherThe character in those games is your state. Also, it would have been a true revolution of CK3 was a first / third person grand-strategy, similar to M&B or Skyrim, instead of the same map painting simulator.
>>2444492>The character in those games is your state.I guess, but for me the whole fun of CK2 was that you had dynasties and characters to manage on top of map painting. Map painting alone is not interesting for me.
>>2444522Totally agree, but again, it becomes boring if nearly all your dynasry is full of retards and all the roleplay depends on you.
>>2444118When did you guys become another faggot victims group? Jesus it's everyone these days. WAHHH wahh WAHHH stfu already.
>>2445205>WAHHH wahh WAHHH stfu already. What's even the point of this thread
>>2445247The point is those dlcs suck, the AI of the game is retarded and the game itself still is unfinished and bugged.
I used to think Catholicism was boring and underpowered (well not really, still has holy wars and all that but) until an anon told me about the Theology focus a few years back, that changed everything.
>>2448028Dude, except the 769 AC start date, the rest of the starts are dominated by catholic AI (specially with HRE and the Papacy), the rest of religions are useless.Again, the roleplay only works if the AI is not retarded, and the pagan AI its by a lot.
>>2448035I meant in the hands of a player, on paper Catholicism looks boring because it's the default and it's not entirely obvious how to interact with the mechanics - how many players do you think ever try to influence cardinal and papal elections? Probably less than 1%. So compared to being able to raid, subjugate, getting free levies, gigantic retinue modifiers and retinues that only cost prestige (in other words being free because you generate so much prestige) regular Christianity just seems boring. It's essentially only good because for most start states so much of the world starts out as Christian, whereas the pagan stuff is good regardless.
>>2448205I get your point and I agree,>how many players do you think ever try to influence cardinal and papal elections?Me right there. But again, the point of this game is, at least for me, the roleplay. I think many, including me, don't play those new catholic mechanics because the RPG is toooo superficial, there is no "blood memory", once ypu play with ypur son or grandson, most of your previous "decisions", quests, events and larp are forgotten. If I have to give you an example of how awful is the RPG, which again is the key pillar of this game, it happened in one campaign where I found I was a bastard, but nothing mattered, no hate to my mother, no dynastic conflict, no avenging for the memory of my (adoptive) father, etc. Just a "-15 opinion" from vassals and relatives, which disappeared after few in-game months. Also, talking again about the catholic mechanics, many people including me, don't pay too much attention because you are still submitted to the clergy, that's why every time I get the chance, I go pagan, at list then you have real religious power and jews (and your debts with them) are no longer a problem.
