I know some people are like >"THIS IS THE LAST ANNO! THERE WILL BE NO OTHERS AFTER THIS!!"But let's say that's not true, what do you think they're doing next? They're probably going to do something gay like go back to the future, but what I want them to do is remake 1701 as a global game like 1800. I know what you're thinking. You're thinking:>They'll just make it woke again!!!That is true, but I think with AI it's easier to change characters to their correct race than it was when 1800 came out.>Just mod 1800, faggot. It's too difficult to take 1800 and try to make it 18th century. It's like making a completely different game.1800 was the video game that taught me that I don't like the 19th century as much as I thought I did. Too industrialized. 18th century, pre-industrial revolution was the best time and it had fantastic architecture too. I hope they remake 1701.
>>2449892You know it'd be more of the same nuannno shit, right?
>>2449896Yes, but we can perfect it with modding. I have an idea for a video game that spans from 1650 to 1760, but I'm not talented in video game development in the slightest and I don't have millions of dollars. But when life gives us lemons, we make lemonade!
>>2449897...what do we make when life gives us dogshit? That said I'd also like a 1701 or 1404 with some qol and more content updates.
>>2449899Yeah and why is it that brothels, casinos and cockfights aren't qol in ANY historical city builder?!?!? Yeah yeah, Tropico 2, but that game didn't have the scope of Anno.
>>2449901Also frostpunk I guess.
>>2449892Honestly I just want the series to come back to the actual age of colonization. Call it Anno 1611.
>>2449892I dont feel like there is even that much missing from Anno 1701. It's a very comfy mid 2000's game, with a color scheme that's kind of typical for games from that time. Vibrant and cozy, just like Oblivion which came out the same year. Artillery should have a much higher range... though naval artillery wasn't that big of a topic at that time yet. some info regarding production rates in the form of diagrams would be nice. Currently, I dont even know if my warehouses saturate the logistic needs of production facilities in range. For me it's a 9/10, a legendary game, in my top 10 already. It's just very fun too play.
Why do you need a remake of a perfect game that works well of modern PCs?
It's looks so nice on my OLED laptop... nowadays they would desaturate it and put a piss filter over it... arrghhhhh no pls leave
At this point the only options I can really think of is them doing a full Asian inspired ANNO or going fully fantasy. Which I would love a fully fantasy ANNO. I've been playing Skies of Arcadia and I'd love an ANNO in that universe.
>>2449901>why is it that brothels, casinos and cockfights aren't qolfock off, not today Satan.
>>2450411Historically accurate, bitch. Your European ancestors were whoremongers gin addicts who worked on slave ships and I want to see it in a video game.
>>2450446There is already a theatre building providing citizens with the entertainment factor. If you whine about missing historical accuracy, why start there and not by complaining about the countless other missing components.Where are my steam engines? Where is my lead chamber process? Where is the first battery? You could find so much that has higher historic relevancy yet you choose this. But at the end of the day, Anno 1701 is perfectly fine the way it is, a prestine mix of fun and complexity.
Just remake Anno 1602. Call it Anno 1603 for those bookends points.
What cool settings hasn't Anno explored yet? Mat be Interstellar? Like Anno 8001Or prehistoric, Anno BC
>>2450736The digits in the title always add up to 9 for Anno titles. So it would be Anno 1611
>>2450759*or Anno 1620, of course
anno 1404 was the peak.
We have Anno 1701 History Edition at least but it has a bug where the AI never builds an army and Ubi never bothered to fix it
I just recently got into the series and played the first 4, do people not like 1404 over 1701? I get that the art style and combat are very different and 1404 has the oriental/occidental thing but outside of those specific instances I feel like 1404 is still the core Anno loop but more stuff to play with
>>2454877Thankfully somebody made a fanpatchhttps://www.nexusmods.com/anno1701historyedition/mods/1
Anno has a few different options. Traditionally Anno has been themed after Europe or Colonialism. However with the introduction of different cultures and factions they could do a few different options.1. They could do an Asian/Indian anno which I think would work and be cool.2. Fantasy Anno which I've been wanting for a while.3. Pull a Tropico and set it in the modern era where it has more focus on geo politics.
>>2454920personally, I prefer 1404 over 1701 despite the latter being my first.
>>2455106>ubi couldn't be assed to do a one line fixI wish there was a way to just send Blue Byte cash directly and make sure Ubi doesn't get a cut so I feel less guilty pirating
>>2454920Most people prefer 1404 to 1701. General consensus is that 1404 is the best Anno game after 1800.
>>2454920>1602-1503old 2D games, I haven't played them much to form an opinion>1701first 3D game, less depth then the games that came before and after but still really fun>1404pretty much considered peak Anno for years, still very much worth playing>2070first sci-fi game, basically 1404 with a sci-fi skin. Has online features that some people don't care for>2205Not Anno, still had fun with it but not Anno in the slightest>1800Return to form, considered by most the current best Anno game. Only downsides are usual modern Ubishit stuff, forced launcher, season passes, cosmetic DLC spam. Sadly I got a bug that unlocked all the achievements, ubi refused to fix it (or even just reset all my achievements) and it killed my interest in playing it>117Never played, heard it was good but Ubi's not getting any more of my moneyAlso the DS ports of 1701 and 1404 are surprisingly good
1602 - had a weird bug where you couldn't make tools. It didn't get patched unless you had found the patch on a pc mag or online.1503 - it was ok, honestly.1701 - first one I really completed1404 - its ok; didn't like the storyline bs2070 - more story.. eco messaging but fine its ok, probably the one I sank most hours into.2205 - it's not really anno; it's an ok citybuilder tho1800 DLC bloat ( cosmetic and some functional)117 - an island that should have been its own map occupies the top of one of the regions, volcanic eruptions f u over bad. and can make it unplayable. Just wait til its more complete and on sale; otherwise, stick with 1800
1404 => 1800 > 1503 > 1701 > 1602 > dogshit > the rest
>>2456480>an island that should have been its own mapThat's how it was in 1800 and it sucked
>>2456515Yeah, but that volcano affects every island on the map, not just the one it's parked on, and you need obsidian for late stage anyway... better that thing is contained than affecting everything you spent the last 12 hours building
>>2450759That's the point. Make the digits add up to 10 (or something) to signify a series of remakes.
God I hope they break the 9 rule so I never have to hear about it again
>>2449892The futuristic ones have a puckish charm
>>2449892Some will claim that Anno 1701 is more comfy and chill however, you can make it as easy or as punishing as you want it to be. It has so very hard characters like Emilio Castelli who will quickly declare war on you and aggressively expands. You got to hyperoptimize your complete setup and you might be fucked if you get a bad seed Not really sure if any of the Anno's in recent years had something comparable.
>>2449892I like how this is more efficient than the symmetrical 5 - 1 level 1warehouse setup, also makes for an easier packing problem when covering a whole island with them
Comfy colonizing, playing against the highly incompetent Schallert
Does Anno 1701 have a campaign? I only see the Sunken Dragon or whatever, which is the expac, isn't it?
>>2449892Why it's the worst out of the older Anno games.
>>2449892nah just give me infinite 1800. which mods are doing, so I guess everything is great.
what's so special, isn't it basically the same as 1404, 1503, 1602?If they still get the funding for a new game it will probably be a another game in the exploration age setting
Am I the only one that doesn’t consider Anno a true city builder? It’s more like age of empires for people who love building the base but hate the fighting part. That’s actually why I love it so much.
>>2464989It's a Colony sim, not a City Builder.
>>2464846Two campaigns, one in the base game and one in Sunken Dragon THe campaign in the base game is... more loose story wise. You are just involved with characters from the continuous play mode >>2464987isn't it basically the same as 1404, 1503, 1602?Not really. It's also the only one that kind of taps into light fantasy elements...
>>2465026It also forces you to buy goods from traders which is stupid. And some 1800 mods even copied it.
>>2465030>forces you to buy goods from tradersCare to elaborate? I can only imagine two scenarios where you are "forced" -> If you play 1 vs 1 with no other NPCs aside from the free trader, you might be forced to rely on him for tools early on, especially if you play against hard AI-> Again, 1 vs 1 scenario, freetrader option, you since there are no indigenous people, you will need to buy colonial items from the free trader to satisfy merchants needs
>>2465026Hmm, I guess the ubipiss launcher doesn't have a separate executable for Anno 1701 without Sunken Dragon, like it does for 1404/Venice. Weird.
>>2465050Damn, that sucks... it's on GOG, really no reason to use Ubishaft. Even runs perfect on Linux through Bottles
>>2465054As much as I hate Ubishit GOG doesn't have the history editions which have 64-bit support and better UI for 2k/4k
>>2465054Eh History Edition is alright, especially for the older ones like 1503 which were locked in a shit tier resolution. Also apparently 1701 didn't have a campaign before Sunken Dragon, unless jewgle is lying.
>>2465056Fair enough.
>>2465061Actually, the "scenarios" in the base game are the campaign, that's why I said loosely connected, introducing the characters from the continuous mode. Those scenarios were part of the base game. Whether one can consider that a campaign? Dont care, they were fun
>>2457722you'd hear about it even more cause you'd have fuckers whining about it being broken
I hate the multiple regions system in 1800. It's such a waste of time and just slows down the game. Wish they could have it all on one map. Like a huge-ass map with multiple different biomes and maybe danger zones in the water that you'd have to manually route around.
