Pure luck, hero showed up halfway through year 1 and I got the abandoned ship mission in february of year 2 when I had the fortuna built (I went gray codex). Blood dragon outfit is also just luck, it's found in an altar of the destroyer so the sooner you have demon god shrines active the better

Solar is perpetually drunk and has the autopsy descriptions for the Hosts and Avatars switched up. You're still right anyway since all Avatars are selected from Hosts, but it cracks me up that the unit that clearly leaves a whole, unspoiled body is described as having broken down into ash, and the corpse which is literally a pile of dust is described as having soft feet.
>>
>>2451209

>>
>>2451236
Haunted Farms and Houses are great AI training missions. The shitty little machinegun car frame can eventually BRRRT ghosts back to death through sheer firepower while being largely immune to all the PSI bullshit being thrown around, and the Flying Drones can fairly easily take out ghosts with their lasers, at the cost of being more delicate. If you have outright tank frames at this point, you can just minigun everything to death from point blank with absolute impunity.
>>
>>2451250
Are you meant to have this against ghosts when they show up? I'm in October of year 2 and I only just got promotion 3 last month
>>
>>2451439
You should have basic drones way before ghosts show up, and even the most basic shotgun one trivializes ghosts (but you can still get rekt by normal dudes wielding normal weapons). Also if you have ghosts you probably have cyberweb as well, so you can use their non physical weapons against them (crappy they may be).

Mind the lack of pixels, but yeah, if you're hell-bent on getting your mitts on 'lil robot buddies early, it doesn't take too long to meet the reqs shortly after hitting Promo 2 as long as the game doesn't withhold Cyberweb missions from you for too long. Is that optimal or even a good idea? Fuck no, but it can be done.

I fucking loved it the first time though. Still do. Really cool setpieces, really fun gameplay.
All humanist maps are good. I honestly love most of Dio's unique multi-stage maps, yes even PRISS. Well maybe not the endgame. But I haven't touched that in ages, it's probably been changed several times since I last finished a Piratez run.

>>
>>2451642
Sell the dead mutants you have piling up in storage. I once realized I had a million dollars worth of dead zombies laying around and selling them basically saved my run.

Also if you're far enough into it to be relevant, have your engineers churn out an endless stream of knockout grenades and sell them if they aren't doing anything more useful, nothing is truly "profitable" to build in XCF, but those grenades at least nearly cover the pay of the engineers themselves.
>>
>>2451648
Was already mass producing knockout grenades, figured there might be something better for profit but I guess not
>>
>>2451642

Manufacturing for profit is not really a thing in XCF, unless you are willing to dip into your limited resource stockpiles.
If you wanna make phat stax, you need to get into the TFTD storyline as fast as possible.

>>

Yes, they might come afterwards but they certainly are a lot easier, not to mention they don't contain a hundred enemies. I used to delay killing Red Dawn because their missions make more money than Cyberweb, until I got tired of all the extra money due to how gruelling the missions are. Honestly, I don't see the in-game point of completing the cult storylines and moving onto the epilogue missions early.

>EXALT
useless druggie goons save for the enforcer who has high brv and can have grenade launcher
>Red Dawn
the actual most competent cult, due to all units being pretty tough and high end ballistic weapons including snipers
>Black Lotus
supremely useless asioid goons save for the assassin, who lives up to the hype
>Dagon
useless goons save some of the TFTD units, primarily the gillman who has a weapon that regularly one shots agents if they're wearing anything short of endgame power armor

i've gone through the early game a few times and my opinion on what is and is not hard has changed alot
imo the cult difficulty tierlist, looking exclusively at their final HQ mission is EXALT being easiest, Blotus being 2nd easiest, and Red Dawn / Dagon sharing the most difficult spot.
the big manor of EXALT is frustrating, but once every enforcer is dead the rest will surrender.
Blotus hq is easily solved by spamming proximity bombs and simply camping the starting lift with snipers
Red Dawn features armored cars and the long range sniping goons that make it pretty hellish without promotion 3 heavy weapons although it can be done
Dagon's jungle temple is a pain in the ass without shrapnel rockets to wipe the brush
>>2452449
>Syndicate
quite easy, rushing into atleast their early warehouse missions to try and get a blackops smartrifle is well worth it
>Cyberweb
only their treaded tank robots are any real threat, the bigger problem of their story arc is contact with dimension X and the creatures there
>>2452464
>Cult of Apocalypse
hilarious with tactical gl / gas grenades or minigun tanks
>>2452648
>underground mission slop
true, use dogs as disposable attack drones to beat all of them with relative ease
the special bark attack from dog at the very least draining melee unit tu's makes most of them way less painful

I dont have difficulty with underground missions, theyre just super boring and all have the same layouts and it has so little tactical depth(heh)

RD HQ is easy as long as you don't try to bruteforce the main entrance. Leave 2-3 agents to camp there, and move the rest into the vents through the entrance behind the metal fence.
Personally I had the most problems with BL HQ, but I don't camp for more than a turn on principle because it trivializes the game.

>The Avro Canada CF-105 Arrow was an interceptor aircraft designed and built by Avro Canada. The CF-105 held the promise of Mach 2 speeds at altitudes exceeding 50,000 feet (15,000 m) and was intended to serve as the Royal Canadian Air Force's (RCAF) primary interceptor into the 1960s and beyond.[3]

>The Arrow was the culmination of a series of design studies begun in 1953 that examined improved versions of the Avro Canada CF-100 Canuck. After considerable study, the RCAF selected a dramatically more powerful delta-winged design, and serious development began in March 1955. The aircraft was intended to be built directly from the production line, skipping the traditional hand-built prototype phase. The first Arrow Mk. 1, RL-201, was rolled out to the public on 4 October 1957, the same day as the launch of Sputnik I.

>Flight testing began with RL-201 on 25 March 1958, and the design quickly demonstrated excellent handling and overall performance, reaching Mach 1.9 in level flight. Powered by the Pratt & Whitney J75, another four Mk. 1s were completed, RL-202, RL-203, RL-204 and RL-205. The lighter and more powerful Orenda Iroquois engine was soon ready for testing, and the first Mk 2 with the Iroquois, RL-206, was ready for taxi testing in preparation for flight and acceptance tests by RCAF pilots by early 1959. Canada tried to sell the Arrow to the US and Britain, but no agreements were concluded.[4]

>On 20 February 1959, Prime Minister John Diefenbaker abruptly halted the development of both the Arrow and its Iroquois engines before the scheduled project review to evaluate the program could be held.[5][6] Two months later the assembly line, tooling, plans, existing airframes, and engines were ordered to be destroyed.

There's a secondary script attached to Havoc ammo to pull this off, you're correct that the actual stats for ammo don't normally allow this.

They (and every other entity for that matter) can be modded rather easily to do so, it's a single variable per creature, but if you're waiting for the devs to decide to implement that natively, you're out of luck; getting stuck in the sewers for 40 turns because a drone is stuck in a closet somewhere is part of the design.

+this -that is a very sensible video game balancing mechanic even if it makes no sense in real life. Certainly they could be using sabots or off-balance penetrators like you say but that would make everybody's accuracy worse, there would be no "oh I'm a good enough shot that I can account for the random variation in hit location."

Despite how the article text tries to church it up, that's exactly what it is unfortunately, it's just a flat penalty, no fancy math involved that actually takes shooter skill into account. For those curious about the exact values:

Without triggering the firing accuracy autist, doesn't that mean that a highly skilled shooter can still be quite accurate?
>>
>>2453512
Yeah, it just applies a direct penalty to the user's calculated firing score, so if you had a guy with 100 Firing use a Hunting Rifle loaded with Havoc rounds, he will shoot identically to a guy with 80 Firing using normal Hunting Rifle rounds.

In my experience it's just not worth it, the whole idea is kind of half-baked, something that got patched in with no fanfare about a year ago IIRC.

>>
>>2453553
I'm trying to figure out the same. High carry capacity + low movement speed makes it seem like they would do great with heavy machineguns and other stationary weapons - except most of those weapons rely on kneeling for dramatically increased accuracy, which lamias can't do anyway.

Yeah this is the same problem I ran into, they're sorta like a unit inbetween gals and ogres but the lack of kneeling basically removes machineguns entirely from their arsenal which they feel stated for

They do have the minor niche of being faster than everyone else on stuff like sand but thats pretty minor

The new 4 sneks you get are pretty damn strong because of their inherent buffs but also because their shielded bronze armor is the tankiest thing you'll get for at least half a year across your entire arsenal, but their long term staying power is dubious

Xenonauts and OGX-COM play very similarly, jumping from one to the other is fairly intuitive as far as base building, combat, and tech development are concerned. Air combat is wildly different, I prefer the way Xenonauts does it, especially when modded inventory management is quite a bit simpler in Xenonauts, and there's less terrain differentiation and granularity in Xenonauts as well.

Thread-wise, you'll be flensed and salted for trying to discuss it here, but a Xenonauts thread crops up on /vst/ on a semi-regular basis, though most of the discussion is based around seething about Xenonauts 2's fucked up development cycle, so your mileage may vary.
>>
>>2453564
I'm actually sort of shocked that there's apparently no "counts as kneeling at all times" flag in OXCE, you'd think creatures like this, tracked vehicles, etc would be as stable of a shooting platform if not moreso than just some guy taking a knee.

>>
>>2454104
Yeah, it's the same reason you stop seeing Cult Safehouses and such as you progress, old mission types get locked off as you go. In this case:

Mission Triggers: CyberwebLair1
Research Triggers
true Durathread Origins
false Cyberweb Dimensional Portal is taken.

Mission Triggers: CyberwebLair2
Research Triggers
true Durathread Origins
false Cyberweb Dimensional Portal is taken.

Buuuut as >>2454094 mentioned, what anon posted isn't actually a normal CyberWeb Lair mission, it's a different one, part of that new brainsucked plotline that got added during the late 3.X patches.

Mind you Solar is really damn inconsistent on setting these up, not everything has a cancellation mission/research option even though you'd expect them to.

First base in North Africa, to cover all of Europe, most of Africa and a decent chunk of Asia.
This is easy access to Dagon and Red Dawn, and likely also sufficient to reach most EXALT and Black Lotus missions on time
Base 2, tip of Florida or in Cuba.
Base 3, somewhere on the eastern Chinese coast.
Learn to micro mission despawns. If there's an EXALT mission your North African base cant reach, transfer your dropship to base 2, while a public/car is set to drive to the mission. Most missions don't despawn if a dropship is heading towards them, so you simply wait for the dropship to transfer to NA and then launch it from there.
When a dropship is transferred, all items and soldiers (if there's room at the new base) go with it, so all you have to do is transfer it, do the mission, then transfer all the loot and the dropship back to your main base. You might wanna save your dropships equipment template by pressing F5 before leaving though, or you will have to memorize what items couldn't be loaded back in when you get back. (F9 to load a craft loadout)
The Europe/North Africa spawn is recommended because two of the cults are centered there, with Dagon being Western Europe and Africa, and Red Dawn being Eastern Europe and other former Soviet stuff.
EXALT is primarily in North America, but will occasionally spawn in South America, which if they're near the bottom of it is the hardest missions to get to.
Black Lotus is mainly Southeast Asia, might see some apprehensions in the random pacific island nations and those you are probably not reaching.

Once you get promotion 3, the dropships you can get from there are more than sufficient to reach the entire globe. The Kitsune in particular is the first truly global feeling one.
>>
>>2455649
I went in blind and built main base in Europe and it worked fine for me. Then I looked at where majority of spawns beyond my reach were and made second in NA and third near Japan. Rest is just filling up the radar coverage.

I still can't comprehend the thought process behind the BLOPS autosniper, it's been nerfed twice and is still a god-tier "you will use this for hundreds of hours" weapon, how did the first iteration of it get added without Solar noticing how the numbers stack up?

you can sell the hull+drill and get extra brainers immediately, the month after rejecting the power you get a ton of gnomes + sci books from an event, male soldiers + no codex gives you 7 heroes at the end of the first year if you fulfill the requirements, you reduce thebes crackdown chance during red lily game by 30%
There are a few major downsides though:
1. You need to get shadowtech from gnome interrogation to start the crowning process
2. You need to do primal hunts to get crowning
3. Your only source of summoning service is red mage because you don't get access to the summoning circle researches
4. You get zero codex craft, you'll be beelining hellerium interceptors and using jetbikes or piranhas for early interception
>>
>>2456240
The access lift has a fairly limited number of spawn points. This is why you ALWAYS have at least one hanger.

Sad but true, doubly so since the Enforcer suit manufacturing change a couple years back. The Tank, Hover Tank, and Seeker drone are about the only chassis worth using, mostly for tanking duty and comically effective night scouting respectively. Flying drones are OK for dealing with melee monster situations I guess, but yeah, the way they're set up in vanilla XCF just doesn't lend well to decent growth. You'd think plugging them into an airframe would be the smart move but they're absolutely abysmal pilots, I eventually got sick of it and editted them to work more like regular agents.

Maybe he thought people wouldn't like generalist rifle-sniper weapons? The problem is that players are always going to gravitate towards whichever weapon is most flexible. The BLOPS autosniper is merely the most noticeable of the entire rifle-sniper class, it just happens to sit in a prominenet position in the tech tree. Maybe he doesn't want to nerf a gun's single shot accuracy simply because it has autofire? In real life guns the mechanical action of automatic fire only has a niche effect on accuracy, limited to hostage situations. The only way to make the BLOPS sniper rifile balanced is to remove it entirely (or nerf it so it is effectively removed), but that will only shift things to the real-life DMR and battle rifles

The FAL carries pretty much until you start getting agents juiced up on transformations that make the stat scaling for the BLOPS Autosniper an absolute monster.

At first I was surprised you aren't using heavier armor at Promo III, but then I realized you're probably just gearing up for a monster hunting mission and armor defense value barely matters in 95% of those.
>>
>>2457409
Usually, at the point in time you're using FALs as a standard gun, you would have heavier armor e.g. kevlar or armored vet.

The standard BLOPS sniper rifle is really good too, don't get me wrong, but yeah, you'll eventually get to the point where veteran agents can casually burstfire the autosniper at 200%+ accuracy halfway across the map, and then when you start using tritanium ammo, the damage gap between the auto and regular sniper shrinks to a mere 2 points, it's crazy.
>>
>>2457452
>burstfire the autosniper at 200%+ accuracy halfway across the map
well, assuming the formula is

0.35*((0.01*Firing*Firing)+(0.25*Reactions)),

my top guys get about 41% if they're within 10-18 tiles, so I guess I'm far away from that.

>>
>>2457443
I assume there's a reason you chose to give everybody FALs instead of whatever non-auto sniper rifle you could had used. It's the same reasoning. Auto is very attractive and you have to be careful to make sure it's worth it if you decide to give it up. If you check the gun sim, the regular black-ops sniper rifle sniper is significantly more powerful than the auto black ops sniper rifle at normal shooting ranges. It just so happens that close range capability is extremely important since any nearby non-cannon fodder enemy is guaranteed to kill your agent next turn so players remain married to any gun which is useful at close range and can still shoot across the map.
>>
>>2457465
sure, versatility is nice. it's funny though that for my current guys' stats, at range 5, which is roughly around where I usually auto from, the autosniper has the least accurate auto shot of all the rifles I've unlocked (26%, for reference the most accurate would be the G11 at 65)
>>
>>2457454
>0.35*((0.01*Firing*Firing)+(0.25*Reactions))
and you would need about 225 firing and reactions to get 200%
>>
>>2457409
the blops autosniper is basically a boltgun
>>
>>2457484
A gross exaggeration sure, but getting north of 100% for a handsome 2x 3-round bursts a turn is absolutely doable around the point you get Helix Knight. That and the availability of tritanium ammo for a solid damage boost later on is pretty much why it reigns supreme until you start getting absolute end-game weapons.
>>
>>2457477
You should auto at range 1 (or 2, depending on how you personally count range) to maximize the chances of hitting the target. Unless you're at a TU threshold that lets you escape or fire twice, just get closer, it's only an extra 4 steps.

Stagger them out on three continents like SouthAm/Europe/Australia (what I did) or NorthAm/Africa/EastAsia. That will get you access to every single event via Osprey and even Little Bird. There should be radar estimation distances when you plop down a new base if you want to be exact.

With the Osprey you can easily cover the full globe with just 2 bases. You don't even need Ospreys, 2 Dragonflieswill cover the globe with 2 bases, because their range is just enough to reach half the globe. Here, I took the easy route and used the North and South pole to make sure they're exactly on opposite sides of the globe. One problem is that unless you use the car trick to stop missions timing out, you will have a tough time reaching equatorial missions in time (or at all before you get the Dragonfly). I had a hard time teching up because of this, I got cockblocked by the psiclone requirement for chief engineer to get Promotion II, and then the EXALT storyline to get the Osprey. EXALT missions tended to spawn out of range, or maybe I just got unlucky.

In any case, a more intelligent placement of bases will work, rather than have an almost useless coverage of the southern hemisphere. But as already has pointed out, an America base and a Eurasia base works just fine, even if you don't have true 100% coverage.

I would like to point out simply clicking twice on the edge of the map gets you to the opposite side of the globe, as long as you place your mouse on the right spot, since the geoscape view is a full semisphere.

None of them are particularly impactful, but a few of the top of my head:

>The overworld is 3d, so it matters whether or not your vehicle can fly. Also the level that you set it to fly to and the weapons it uses matters, because damage to buildings affects your reputation
>Things that you buy don't have an infinite supply; you actually need to buy them from someone
>There are 2 types of science
>Scientists and engineers are recruited individually, same goes for soldiers
>The different factions aren't replaceable like the countries in the original that just give funding. Each provides something unique. Also, they can hate each other and wage war against each other
>The level of alien infiltration isn't binary

Get Promotion 2 ASAP.
It's a step up in difficulty, so what? Everything you need to deal with each promotion level comes after each promotion. All delaying does is making you feel better while unnecessarily delaying the real progression up the main tech tree. The default assumption is that you want to tech up as fast as possible, the blip in difficulty is just a temporary problem. Of course, if you find the current crop of missions really tough and am struggling really hard I guess you can delay things to avoid all the mission despawn penalties, so is that your real question? I think most people here don't have problems dealing with the tactical missions themselves, mistakes tend to be more strategical.

what exactly is happening when the last enemy passes out from wounds and you get to capture it alive?

surely he's not taking stun damage from the wounds.

I shot it w/ a Rak SMG 20 turns ago, so there's no way he has remaining stun damage from that.

is it just a timing thing? where he takes wound damage and falls to the ground but then the mission ends before the game realizes he's dead?
>>
>>2458846
>surely he's not taking stun damage from the wounds.
No, but his HP falls below the stun threshold because of the bleeding, causing him to pass out.
>>
>>2458846
stun gamage > current hp = passing out
You can exploit it to capture tough enemies.
>>
>>2458851
>>2458848
the weapon has a 25% stun damage multiplier and I shot him with it 20 turns ago. you're telling me he still hasn't fully recovered from that?
>>
>>2458856
I think, don't quote me on this, that bleeding enemies don't recover stun damage.
>>
so he's taking more wound damage per turn than he is recovering stun per turn, enough that it catches up to what little stun he still has

>>2458869
that would explain it
>>
File: file.png (42 KB, 640x400)
42 KB PNG
Using a random human as an example,

Stun recovery = .1 HP - .05 MaxHP
= .1 (MaxHP - MissingHP) - .05 MaxHP
= .05 MaxHP - .1 MissingHP

So if the unit is missing enough HP %, it actually stops recovering stun
>>
>>2458888
IIRC if a unit loses enough health it also actually starts to gain stun damage every turn.
>>
File: file.jpg (51 KB, 642x478)
51 KB JPG
>>2458898
>>2458888
assuming the game accepts negative recovery as being actual extra damage, yeah.

Stun recovery happens when

.1HP > .05MaxHP
<=> .1 (MaxHP - MissingHP > .05MaxHP
<=> .05MaxHP > .1MissingHP
<=> .05 > .1 (MissingHP / MaxHP)
<=> 0.5 > (MissingHP / MaxHP)

So, taking this Footman as an example, and assuming there's no hidden script fuckery, the unit recovers stun if it's above 50% HP, actually takes more stun if it's below 50% HP.

This doesn't normally happen for player units, cause those involve sanity and other shit.

What's a good loadout for Zombie Infestations?
>>
>>2460079
Depends on the zombies in question.
If regular (the melee zombies), shotguns. If your unit has sufficiently high reactions, they can use katanas. Bring one sniper in case there's a Singer or Strix, and make sure to drop that one first, as far away from your units as possible. Strixes have target priority.

If there are megazombies, zombie troopers or vampires, bring high powered guns non-electric anti-power armor weapons
>>
>>2460079
Most are very weak to burn, high rof guns like smg(painbringer if you have) with inc ammo, shotguns and melee all deal with them well. It helps to keep your troops in the same general area so you can predict where the zombies rush and reaction fire them down.
A strategy I employ when its available is to bring a few hammers in backpacks and rush into a building with a roof or 2nd floor then break the stairs with a hammer, then you can ignore the melee zombies and kill the ranged.

I'm at 74% of tech tree and I have roughly the same set of missions that I had when I was at 45%. Exactly the same with ninjas, with no progression: an APC or a crawler every few days. Lots of trash low level missions like bandit office, low tier assassination contracts, some boat stuff with gillmen. Meanwhile I shot down a star god battleship (the long one) recently, the MERCs I clean out in any form without much trouble, I did multiple MERC and SG bases and few tleth bases. Have a lot of high level captives sitting doing nothing. Have Dr.X recruited and red mage at 30% dependence, also either spent or stuck. I had some mission about unlocking fear realm with a padlock, and there was a popup how we can access "the plains" now, and then it is all silent again.

The only thing that keeps popping up regularly that I havent done yet is PRISS complex.

This mod is the only way to make a bunch of vehicles 'viable' and even then you'd still probably never bother

Its absurd a couple motorcycles take up a whole hangar bar
>>
>>2462346
shotguns and smgs are your best friends. smg+dagger/stun baton will let you clear caves pretty easily, lokks have high enough reactions to make up for their bad melee. later on I upgrade them to nightblade outfits with suppressed pistols and those can take on everything short of a tank (even cyberdiscs die to suppressed pistol shots)
>>
Stunning people should spook others as if I had killed them. I don't want to have to spend 20 turns running around this fuckhuge mansion looking for the last hurpa durpa in who the fuck knows where when I already stunned 50 of his friends.

what i'm hearing is i need more brainers
>>
>>2462490
If you aren't filling those lab spaces, you are wasting time and money.
>>
>>2462484
Also add in the fact that if you surrender you won't get hit upside the head by a baseball bat, tazed, struck by paralytic venom, or choked out
>>
>>2462495
so the game is to maximise brainers?
>>
>>2462500
Yes. Not only do you want to fill your lab to capacity as soon as possible, once you're able to build brainer facilities that don't need the lab you'll basically be building bases for the sole purpose of putting more brainers in them. It may sound expensive (and the base building part definitely is), but brainers also partially pay for themselves with the infamy gains you get from completing research.

how do i protect myself from myself from grenades, the humanist spam them hard and i just lost one of my og gal baddies to them :(

Kill them first if you can, spread out if you can't. That's about all you can do.
>>
>>2462560
Don't group up, they can toss grenades if you're in a group even if they can't see you (assuming they've spotted at least one person in said group)

this is what makes the game so great, a sane mind could never conceive of xpiratez
>>
>>2462406
My favorite is stuff like expeditions or hunting party where it's a little tent in the middle of the huge hangar.

>>
>>2462592
Well, I don't disagree. As you said, a sane man would never make xpiratez. I just pointed a difference in competence. Do may be ass, self proclaimed feminist ally and clinically insane but he actually know what he is doing(most of the time). . Solar is just retarded in comparison.
>>
>>2462609
>POV: you're on the academy cruise and the stupid thralls keep waking up
>>
>>2462615
I could never do that mission legitimately. The thralls either get overstunned and die, or they wake up. And since they don't surrender the mission doesn't end.
>>
Started playing xcom, tftd, xpiratez and xfiles after long long break again. Xcom is fine even if really simplistic after playing all that giga mods, tftd is cancer from the he start and as far as I remember it only getting worse. Xpiratez is now much slower , which isn't bad, and full of samey AI slop, new one is better than that atrocious old AI slop but that was ugly even for slops so it don't say much. Also you really need to start with more hangar space.
Xfiles look even more bloated and badly designed than it was before, how the at is even possible? It really need to be taken behind the shed and purged. Heck starting a new may not be bad idea.
>>
>>2462661
>Xfiles look even more bloated and badly designed than it was before
Can you elaborate further? I have a shitload of gripes with it too, but I'm curious to see how much someone elses issues with it might differ from my own.

how to get guild stapler or old earth books? I'm beyond horny for something that can actually kill ships sustainably.
using a piece of shit GUNWAGON nigger carrier

Guild warehouses, rarely from govt agent mission, underbase facility (requires gnome), interrogation

Certain bounty missions, semi uncommon events tied to underground missions/recruit brainer: castaway gal, if you're lucky you can get it from an aircar race or an urban map

For how much staplers have been memed, I've literally never been cockblocked by it in any of my runs. Do you guys just do guild warehouse the one time and never again because it's too easy? Because I farm that shit for easy money and infamy.
>>
>>2463220
it's literally not showing up. is there a button i can press or a pattern i can drive my GUNWAGON in to summon it? Am I doing something wrong? Does it only work if the GUNWAGON is loaded with the black ubers? But I need those for cannon fodder scouting??

How the hell do you all get so few hideout defenses? I get two a month on average.
>>

I have months without a base defense, but the other day I got triple MERC assault on an interceptor base. Pilots+dogs+tank defending, three ships landing within two hours from each other. If it wasnt AA whittling the crew I'd lose to the first cruiser.

Some bases never got attacked, I assume its the matter of being discovered.

Once I played the early game a few times and started being "efficient" about research I have always been cockblocked by it. I get that the point is to make it so you can't count on having Workshop by April but the game is also actively rewarding you for being efficient with the Captain's Log events in addition to the base xcom gameplay of ramping up activity/challenge over time so it's immensely frustrating when you get blocked by the RNG and can't make the progression that the game intends/expects you to be making.
>>
>>2463440
It's not rewarding you for being efficient, it's rewarding you for knowing early game meta. Also it doesn't really matter if you don't get workshop by april or september or whatever.
>>
>>2463345
I'm jealous of you XPZ dudes, I don't think I've had a single base defense in XCF in at least five IRL years, absolute air superiority is too easy to achieve, and my crippling autism won't just "let one in" on principle.
>>
>>2463440
>the progression that the game intends/expects you to be making.
There is no such thing and no expectations for your tech progression. The rewards from a quick Captain's Log 1 (and penalties for a slow one) are toothless with no impact to overall strategy. What retarded theorycrafters over the years have found is a greedy tempo build for the sake of tempo itself. That some players think tempo is ideal and then get frustrated over a hiccup pushing things back in a given month are actually just being frustrated by their own retardation. Stop being a retard.
t. retarded theorycrafter

>>2463503
I beat XCF and had a grand total of two base defenses. One muton raid that BTFO my garrison and a late-game Black Lotus raid that I let happen because I was bored.

>>
>>2463815
it's pretty good if you're playing aggressively, because as long as you keep the door shut, and there isn't a hallway behind that door, enemies don't bother opening it (usually) and you can get someone at ambushing position on people in the hangar.

personally, I like turtling so I debug warp people out of there

Yes, I name them as numbers. When I play Xcom Files, I give them letters to fit the theme better. If they excel I give them little suffixes. Fuck trying to remember if it's John Smith or Joe Bloggs who is the one who is good at throwing or whatever, or is just some more cannon fodder to shove out of the back of the skyranger. It's all the same to me, those RNG names are actually less memorable than a number.

You are also the MiB, all the civilians you abduct don't know the difference between you and the "real" MiB. After all, the MiB is an internal designation. For all you know, your counterparts at the "MiB" also call you the MiB, depending on the nature of the opsec of Xcom to the rest of the council.
