>>2453908If this turns out to be another turd, I'm officially quitting RTS
>>2453918bad news
>>2453918Anon, I...
played thru the demo, here are my thoughts>lots of units are missing>lots of features are missing>!notUEF t3 arty is bugged and just shoots randomly in the air at all times>experiments are all a variation of the monkeylord, quite disappointing>controls feel clunkyits kinda odd but hey its supcom that doesnt run like absolute ass on modern systemsthe elephant in the room of course is - why would I play this(when it actually releases) when BAR exists?
>>2454028>the elephant in the room of course is - why would I play this(when it actually releases) when BAR exists?Well, I for one wanted a supcom clone, not TA clone, which are already a plenty.
>>2454028BAR is a much smaller scale, arcadey feeling supcom. I played a few matches and you're lucky to get over 100 units per player
>>2454060Never played TA. What are the main differences between it and SupCom?
>>2454352economy is a bit different - there's only 2 tech levels, and more ways of generating power (wind, solar, tidal, fusion) and instead of making a lot of factories like you would in SupCom, typically you have only 1 factory that you support with a bajillion construction turretsBAR doesn't have shields for your base (okay there are, but they only work against plasma artillery)commander doesn't get upgrades in BARsupcom has experimentals that you build like buildings, the BAR equivalent are both significantly weaker and come out of a gantryalso only 2 factions that are largely the same, very very little faction specific unitsalso the maps are generally way smaller in BAR
>>2454403oh forgot a pretty massive difference - you can rez dead buildings/units/ships in BAR
>>2454405you can rez destroyed buildings in SupCom. Not sure whether you can do it for experimentals
>>2455086buildings is whateverrezzing the early bots/tanks is quite huge thoalso supcom has no naval salvage which also changes up the dynamic completely
>>2455087>also supcom has no naval salvage which also changes up the dynamic completelySupcom does have naval salvage. You're thinking of some other game.
>>2453908They thought that removing any and all Quality of Life since the birth of video games would be a good idea for the demoIt unironically, literally, unabashedly, has no control groupsI don't even know how to call this, it's like some newfangled level of stupidity humans don't even have a name for
>>2455098shut the fuck upnow give me 3 millionI already knew this game was vaporware
>>2455098its an alpha build retard
>>2455150you dont know what youre talking about. An alpha build would be literal cubes and triangles shooting balls at each other without sounds. Why do you open your mouth when you have nothing truthful to say?
>>2455156You gotta wait for the sigma build. I hear thats the best verison.
>uveso, ai modder for faf >ozonex, creator of the map editor for faf>nine2, creator of many unit and campaign mods for faf>some other modders that cleaned up FA's shitty code to make it run somewhat tolerablepretty stacked team, i have pretty high hopes if the kickstarter does well
>>2455156if you go to the sanctuary discord you can see that they've had aircraft and a lot of unused assets in their showcases for a long time now. What you're getting is a very tiny portion of the game that is polished enough to show off. So yes its an alpha build
>>2455161sigma build is the free pirated version of this shitshow on kickstarter wheels
>>2455150>its an alpha build retardNo, the store page clearly calls it a demo. And that means it's supposed to be a small vertical slice of the final product, not a fucking tester build.>>2455156An alpha build is whatever the devs want it to be, there are no conventions or anything around it.
>>2455182>An alpha build is whatever the devs want it to beNo, it literally isn't you fucking moron. An alpha build, a beta build, and gold are three very distinct, very specific stages of game development.
>>2455297>No, it literally isn't you fucking moron. An alpha build, a beta build, and gold are three very distinct, very specific stages of game development. How's being a gigantic mouthbreating retard these days like? Not only do you not know the first thing of what you are talking about, you're also making an argument completely unrelated to what i said.
was edge panning really too hard to implement
Well this is clearly a decade of development away from BAR's current state. Or 2 months if they let Claude work. Which is it gonna be?
The UI fucking horrible and the control groups don't have that many commands, can't say I'm looking forwards anymore to this over something like Ashes of the Singularity II which isn't even a supcom like game but carries the scale. Not sure how they're going to get money for an RTS like this since the last time I heard of an RTS getting a kickstarter was Planetary annihilation and that game left a bad taste in a lot of backers mouths.
>>2455098>I don't even know how to call thisHow? Using the English language, illiterate ESL.
>>2455431>you are a poopoo head and you don't know what you're talking about because... you just don't, ok???wow you sure told him, extremely compelling argumentanyways https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycleback to r/gaming with you
>>2453918Lmfao
>decide to replay the FA campaign since I am in a supcom mood after playing this>Mind Games absolutely assrapes me and I used to be able to pass the campaign effortlessly back in the dayis this what getting old does to you?
>>2459271Mind Games catches you off guard, thats not even getting old. I always think the level before that is harder, Hades i think.
>>2459281well, that one is also tough since they throw endless experimentals at youbut at least the enemy doesn't send endless swarms of t2 gunships 10 minutes in
>>2454028My main grip for the moment is the UI that need a rework.Unlike supco the game doesn't seem to tell you how long a unit/building take to build and what is their energy/alloy consumption rate.Alloy extractor need a better visual indicator of their tier.Same for unit icon.
>>2453908Frontline mechanichttps://youtu.be/syJtcsSPJWY
>>2462603>a base feature of BAR is advertised as groundbreaking innovationcome on now
>>2462603>1:22if you can't get your mom to stop coughing when recording dev videos then you really shouldn't be asking for millions on kickstarter
>>2462805his mike is worse than my piece of shit I bought 10 years backtruly shameful
>>2462794and unlike BAR this is limited to straight lines
>>2462603Yeeeeah NahThis game really is sketchy
>>2454028>why would I play this(when it actually releases) when BAR exists?BAR is mechanically stale. Everything is balanced to the point of indistinction and the playerbase is so stagnated that any attempt to diverge from established build orders is treated as a hostile act. The AI is also a mess and only performs "well" because it operates at 10k APM and even on the harder difficulties it will blindly send waves and waves of units in to killboxes. There's also the lore which was written as a trans-furry fetish. And their secret plans to monetize a free and open-source game because the current stewards feel they entitled to get paid off the backs of all the work former devs put in which were leaked. But you can look past those last two points since it, currently, doesn't affect the actual game.
>>2454028Why play BAR when Zero-K exists?
