Not only the demo, but the kickstarter as well:https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/enhearten-media/sanctuary-shattered-sun
>>2453950>>2453967kickstarter seems to be a very reliable way to get free money. dorf made half a mil, this guy reached the 100k goal within hours, neither of them needed anything more than a promise. I like supcom and this looks exactly like supcom which triggers strong nostalgia that can be an advantage but since it sets some expectations it can also be a disadvantage if they fuck it up.
>>2453950guess I'll give it a go, shattered sun, dorf and dust front have all been on my watchlist for some time
these stretch goals just seem like stuff that should be expected out the gate>air units>naval units >mod manager before navalcome on now
>>2453950I forgot this game was even in hypothetical existence. At least it's not a C&C or SC or TA clone, though Supcom isn't that far away. Too bad I don't like Supcom vs TA, but still worth a try.
>>2453950Played the demo, so far feels like a shameless FA clone. Not just a -like, but just straight copying as much as they can get away with. It's not as good by a mile and lacks basically all of the QoL that FA:F, PA or even BAR have flirted with over the years.About the only thing I can say about it is that it runs better than FA:F, but the performance still isn't good.Maybe the cash injection and another couple of years of development will help things but I doubt it.
graphics settings are lacking
>>2454022And these motherfuckers have the GALL to proclaim their game as the "Return of the RTS". This genre is dead and fucking buried.
>>2453997hahahahahah what the fuck how do redditors keep falling for this shitFrom these stretch goals alone you can 100% tell they don't actually give a flying fuck about the game. They put fucking naval units AFTER mods. MODS. NIGGER YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW IF ANYONE WILL PLAY YOUR GAME TO EVEN NEED A MOD MANAGER!!!!!!!!!!! And you already delegate naval units, 1/3rd of the game's strategic layers, 33 fucking % of possible gameplay, to a far away stretch goal at god knows how much money.Imagine DORF guys asking $150k to add flamethrower units or flying bombers. Lmao. What a fucking joke and so are people paying up.Literally just launch FAF there you go you just played a better and more complete game than Shattered Niggers ever will be hahahahaah
>>2453997gay
>>2453997>mod manager and replay vault come before navy
>>2454091Jesus calm down
>>2453997so its PA all over again, they even name their Experimentals Titans. Didn't Sanctuary start as a community project.I almost want to see them only reach the first goal. Are they really going to omit flying units when they are literally using a t4 'experimental' for merch.>>2454085anon, its a demo.
>>2453997Lol, lmao even.
wait that Titan is called a t5does it mean the game has 5 tech levels?
>>2454209I thought so but no, normal tech still goes up to T3 onlyT4 - your usual SupCom experimentalsT5 - omgwtfbbq raid boss experimental
Better performance than I expected. Going back to Zero-K and SupCom sp until this comes out.
>>2454209>legendary cardmicrotransactions?
>>2454320It's just an avatar background or similar apparently
Will this game be new FAF or just another Planetary Annihilation?
>>2454367Honestly it all hinges on netcode/performance, everything else is in place. It looks nice, the UI doesn't look like a programmer's placeholder and they really went all in on copying supcom in every detail.Dogshit netcode is the cause of almost all issues with FAF currently and why it has problems retaining people, if sanctuary solves that, it will become the new FAF. Especially if it can handle 6v6 and 8v8 battles.
>>2454384yupand this is the part where BAR completely and utterly BTFO's it, since the game can host 100+ people matches without major issues
>>2454098don't need 3D artists for those
>>2454258does it do the SupCom2 thing were experimentals are just slightly less common unit?>>2454409man you BAR fags are obnoxious, how about attracting your own audience
>>2454413>does it do the SupCom2 thing were experimentals are just slightly less common unit?you don't mass produce them out of a lab but they are all kinda meheven monkeylord, the most basic bitch experimental has that "wow" factor with the XBOXHUEG LAZ0Rthe game overall feels soulless.
>>2453997I would assume they mean a complete roster of air/naval given stuff in the trailer and demo, still the idea of gating them behind funding goals is kind of insane
>>2454017Checked out the demo and it has so many problems I'm not going to list them all - BUT for once somebody has managed to clone the supcom scale which has turned out to be one of its defining characteristics that nobody seems to be able to reproduce. Not BAR, not even supcom2 which look more like mobas. This is how Deserts of Kharak should have looked but they just don't get it.>it runs better than FA:FI don't know about FAF but it runs like ass the freezes/lags are atrocious. It's crazy that old 3d games which were massive and had great graphics could run on a potato but "modern" games that have the same graphics stress the latest high end gpus and cpus and burn 250+W of power even when idle.
>>2454415>gating them behind funding goals is kind of insanelocking fundamental features and units behind a paywall is just a red flag and proof that this is not a seriously developed game but a money making scheme with a game on a fishing hook
>>2454209Ashes of the Singularity: Escalation also has 2 tiers of Experimentals.
>>2454432or just a realistic sense of what kind of budget they can hope for
>>2454415>>2454432You have to be retarded to think the kickstarter has any purpose other than publicity. The game has been in development for like a decade, the 100k they asked for (they got twice that in like 12 hours) is fucking nothing. The stretch goals are obviously calculated to be guaranteed to be achieved and they know how much interest there is in their game.Honestly the negativity around this game is fucking weird given that it's just missing content and there are no fundamental flaws like dogshit art or loss of scale. Is it BARfags feeling threatened or what.
>>2454475>Bro I can make this fork for you but I can only afford 1 prong>can I just give you a shiv and call it a fork and can you pay me fork price?Kill yourself you stupid worthless nigger. The only realistic sense of what they're asking for is the realistic assumption that redditors will pay up.
>>2454428>It's crazy that old 3d games which were massive and had great graphics could run on a potato but "modern" games that have the same graphics stress the latest high end gpus and cpus and burn 250+W of power even when idle. This has almost nothing to do with graphics and everything to do with inefficient coding practices. I bet every time you order a unit to move, the engine suddenly has to run over 9000 separate functions and completely tanks performance on a frame by frame basis
>>2454507you're extremely mad about things that only make sense inside your head
>>2454515unlike you I know what I'm talking about.
>>2454428it's Unity
>>2454493>Honestly the negativity around this game is fucking weird given that it's just missing content and there are no fundamental flaws like dogshit art or loss of scale. Is it BARfags feeling threatened or what.well the whole thing feels like dangling crack in front oft he addict and cranking up the priceespecially considering how shit PA was and the absolute disaster called SupCom2
I like itthe artillery is very pretty
>>2453997Is everyone replying to this fucking retarded? Those stretch goals are just filler because they know that they'll meet those. Only the later goals are the ones that they actually need funding to make. Adding naval is just adding more units, they can do this shit easily since they've been making this game for more than 4 years without the kickstarter money already
is faf worth setting up or should i just stick with fa if i mostly just play skirmish against ai? with the way i see people talk about faf, it kind of makes me want to stay away from it. Has that homo ass cult vibe to its userbase where they can't stop sucking each other's dicks.
>>2455014It's not even possible to play supcom multi without FAF, that's why people keep talking about it. IIRC FAF has some really good AI mods, but I'm not sure if they are FAF-exclusive.
>the !notUEF faction>no fatboy, instead it's just a bigger tank with a single weaponbooo!
>>2454493It's been like 20 years of supcom clones promising the world and delivering shit. All of these projects are run by autistic retards either hell bent on repeating all of supcom's shortcomings and learning nothing from it, or delusional egotists who think they can do it so much better by just making TA but shit.I have 0 faith this one will be any different and what I've seen from this demo has reaffirmed that they're struggling just to copy supcom's homework. I'd rather a 64bit FA port over yet another temu knockoff at this point.
>>2455185it's gonna be PA all over again isn't it
>>2455186What is your problem with PA?
>>2455209nta, making an incredibly bland RTS in every department. It completely lacks strategic depth, having just one faction and just the most basic units. All the game amounts to is the spectacle of crashing planets. Its the only well designed thing and I can't even say if its a good feature from a gameplay perspective. The units and buildings look like like they were designed by a bunch of kids using lego. The effects are pretty bad, the environment looks bland, trees are some low poly stains, planets lack deformation (the only elevation are artificial plateaus). The OST might be fine, I just listen into it right now. I wasn't even sure if it had one.Never played Titans
>>2455209not being able to see the entire map at once for one
>>2455014I haven't tried it but I've heard the loud project is designed for and good at skirmish against the AI but it changes the balance more to favor big maps by making the tech levels last longer. Not sure how many play it online or if it even supports it.
>>2455022>but I'm not sure if they are FAF-exclusive.They are.
>>2454971>Is everyone replying to this fucking retarded?immediately followed up with>Adding naval is just adding more unitspure pottery lmao
>>2455261>difference from naval units to terrestrial units>travels on a different terrainwow so hard to add this when they already have the terrain system
There are naval units and air units already in the game, you fight them in the demo missionand air and naval factoriesalso things called 'tech centers' for air, land, and sea, whatever those do
>>2455229>It completely lacks strategic depth, having just one faction and just the most basic units. The unit diversity is much higher than SupCom though?T1 boombots counter T2 tanks, T2 long range bots counter T2 tanks, T1 bots counter T2 long range bots, Colonels counter everything T1, T2 Tanks counter everything they can hit, etc.Air has Fighters and Gunshups like SupCom, but also A10 and flying fortress. It is worth going Orbital just for the massive scouting capacity. So I am not sure what you mean by "lacks strategic depth".
>>2455265You reduce game design (and in an RTS, a genre notoriously hard to get right) to such absurd rudimentary puddle-deep one-dimensional statements, that you showcase you're not intellectually equipped to have this conversation. If you think that in a game like supcom the only real difference between ground, air and naval units is their mode of movement, then you are truly a completely clueless moron. Please do not ever speak up again on these subjects, do not share your thoughts. They are worthless and pointless.
>>2455364and if it had triple that it would still be bland. All of these units are the most basic units. They just added land, air and sea (and orbital) and added all variations of attacks air, sea, ground / cheap or expensive / slow or fastit's the equivalent of playing Age of Empires and removing all special units and tech.SupCom hasn't much novelty, but at least it has some special units and just as important, not everyone has access to the same things
Getting rid of ammo is a godsend, no longer will auto-resolve give a fuck about ammo.
>>2453979>more than a promisedorf is a completed game at this point you dingusbut since they got extra gamer bucks they are going to add more before releasing it
>>2454017>FA:F>PA >BARthese are all tower defense games
>>2453997This game is fucked
>>2454971>Those stretch goals are just filler because they know that they'll meet those. They know they'll get 5 million dollars from RTS fans on kickstarter? Not even Stormgate cheated people that hard
