Please fill in the survey or I lose my fucking job edition

Patch v1.3.11 is here, the game is finally fixed. Start playing, chud.

How fares your empire, /eu5/?

# News
I'm serious about completing the survey, Anon. I'm this fucking close to losing it, don't push me over the edge. Also, please leave a positive review of the Tinto Community Manager :)

To celebrate the new thread here is my one tag, one religion, one culture orthodox, Muscovite, Hindustani, Timurid Middle Kingdom headquartered in Axum Ethiopia, starving like an African child edition finally finished.

Every exploration done, every province colonized, all tags eliminated, all pops converted and assimilated. The bubonic plague punched me down to 420M pops which I find appropriate for this run. It has been months in the making but it's now done and I feel satisfied.

I will now reenable food, research all food techs and pop growth techs I skipped and see how high the pop goes before the end date.

Someone please explain to my retarded ass how cultural assimilation works, because I've been pursuing anything that improves assimilation for this entire run and somehow am still completely in the negative.

I don't understand the math. I start off with -10 due to integrated, then I have a ton of positive modifiers and at the end it somehow brought that to -15, even MORE negative than the base value. How the hell is that possible? How could I possibly bring passive assimilation into the positives like this?
>>
>>2454484
Doesn't the discriminated zero any positives?

>We’ve indicated before that Ambitions are one of the features we're most excited about. They’re conceptually designed to give nations both short and long-term goals that shape how you play and open new paths for diplomatic cooperation and conflict. However, we only get one chance to release them. A feature this central needs to land complete, balanced, and genuinely add to how you play, not go out early because it makes a changelog look fuller. You've told us before when we've released things without the balancing and polish they needed. We heard that, and we're choosing to give Ambitions the time they deserve, so we’ll be releasing them in update what we’re calling the Discovery update, Late 2027

Ambition tree bros.. not like this..
>>
>>2454484
You only get passive assimilation in your cores because those are the only province with a positive assimilation value
>ton of positive modifiers
Those just make the number go bigger, so +50% of -10 gets you to -15.
>>
>Late 2027
The game will already be cancelled by then.
>>
>>2454484
>Someone please explain to my retarded ass how cultural assimilation works, because I've been pursuing anything that improves assimilation for this entire run and somehow am still completely in the negative.
2-10 is -8, then the rest of the modifiers apply to that number, since it's a negative number the final result will be negative. You need to use a wizard or accept a culture to get a core to remove the -10 before you can get any passive assimilation.
>How could I possibly bring passive assimilation into the positives like this?
You literally can't. I think there's only one tag that can do this without a wizard which is what I plan to experiment with after my next game

Modifiers that are explicitly stated to improve cultural assimilation make my assimilation MORE NEGATIVE than it already is? That's the most retarded thing I've ever heard. Is that working as intended? So I should actually be avoiding anything that is meant to improve assimilation because it'll only worsen my assimilation.

Also, if I need to accept a culture to get a core for my assimilation to go positive...don't accepted cultures not get assimilated? I thought you had to be discriminatory against a culture to get it to assimilate and if you accept it, it gets to just continue alongside yours unassimilated?
>>
>But make no mistake: Discovery being big doesn't make 1.4, or 1.5 insignificant. Each of these updates is packed with bug fixes and stability work alongside improvements you've been asking for. We're going through the list, and if something isn't addressed right away, it's not forgotten; it's coming.

The percentage of a negative number will be a negative number. 80% of -10 is -8
So you just have to get base number to at least 1 to make percentages add a positive number

Why would it matter to you if the assimilation is -100 or -1, nothing happens until the base value is positive anyways. Either the number is larger than 0 or it's not.
>So I should actually be avoiding anything that is meant to improve assimilation because it'll only worsen my assimilation.
No you need to get positive base value if you want passive assimilation. Then those modifiers actually do something.

> Ambitions are planned to be something where you want to do X and others would oppose you. We had the frame work there, but we ran into 3 problems with it. First, it was hard to make good ones with contests that were not military or external economy competition, making them fairly limited in applicability. Secondly, making the AI understand them was and is way beyond the scope of reaching this patch. Now, people don't care much if the AI can't fullfill missions in eu4, as they are "for that country only", but if your content relies on X and you can't do X yet its not good enough. Finally, the current implementation we had that would be ready was not up to par when it comes to the UI.

Paradox have cultivated a retarded, cult-like fanbase on par with World of Warcraft and yearly sports videogames for their ability to ignore reality and proudly open their wallets. On one hand they deserve to be commemorated for it because it surely took a lot of work over 10+ years to socially engineer autists into forming such parasocial relationships with a literal corporation. On the other, if they'd spent the time actually training up engineers and carrying knowledge forward from game to game instead of forcing each game to reinvent the wheel, maybe they wouldn't have to run a cult.

>>2454652
The total amount is hard to estimate, depends on how you count really. Directly the number is lower than you might expect because I'm not so much killing people rather than preventing them from being born in the first place. One way to look at it would be to compare the 420 million I ended up with with some test games final total population (since I own everything). Then again random observer games distort the population too because population caps keep the pop artificially "low" all the same I also hit pop cap in some provinces. Even that has complications with the way diseases work and such.
The "starving provinces" warning was basically crashing the game (extremely optimized for some reason I guess they didn't expect someone to starve the globe) if I hovered over it so I didn't pay attention to it directly but during the little ice age there was this handy count of starving provinces in the situation window and I think I peaked at something like 2500 provinces out of the 4000? provinces the game has. At least I think that's how many there are I think I could assing something like 3900 provinces to vassals when creating those so the real count is probably around the 4k mark and I did starve some more after that too. I would guess I starved 2/3rds of the worlds provinces. Some of those I then manually restarted when they were converted but most I just left as they were.
I think the number is in the hundreds of millions in at least some technical sense. I think I killed over ten million in battles with Timur alone though maybe I remember that wrong, I'm sure it was some big milestone like that and million seems low.
>>

I wish I didn't have to subvert what the devs want me to do with CB's and parliaments but the AI just sits there and does nothing after they removed 'no cb war' from the AI in 1.3~ because 1.2's high aggression setting was apparently too aggressive (Playing the game). It doesn't feel like anything is designed around cb's being free but I want the AI to be able to do stuff.

As hard as it is to say, EU4 did trade a hell of a lot better than EU5 does.
To actually simulate Asian spice trade to Europe you would have to manually set up trades for every single step of the journey, and all of them could break at any step along the way if you don't micro it to hell and back.
>>
>>2454698
well that mod CB isn't "free" the AI still needs to create it with a spy network. it's just always available and opens up what the AI can and should do.
also comes with pretty big AE reduction bonus to help them take more stuff in their usually costly (attrition from being retarded) wars.
>>
>>2454706
>their usually costly (attrition from being retarded) wars.
Reminder in 1.0 and pre release this didn't happen and the AI was scarily competent with it's big stacks and used vision to it's advantage constantly.
>>
>>2454707
just further proof that the dev's vision isn't always the right one. we didn't need a more retarded AI and we should have more freedom with CBs.
>>
>>2454707
Development tends to work in reverse order.
>first ever version nobody knows how anything works
>also the most competent the AI will ever be, and the hardest the mechanics will ever be
>settle into a rhythm, understand the game
>time to dumb it down for the new players
They did this with control as well, and the game has consistently been worse for it. It's just a line go up sim now.
>>
>>2454704
You actually don't have to do that, when AI builds marketplaces it gives burgers way more free trade capacity and the burgers sit around making trades that are profitable which, supposedly, adds tax base to the location that the burger trade power is based out of. The problem is that every single AI nation in the game is broke and debt spirals because of a few key reasons which prevents them from building marketplaces or essential goods which stops TRADE altogether.
1. Many nations don't select reforms because "they're not good" even when the reforms just add crown power and nothing else which is objectively good. The weights for actions like that are fundamentally all broken because the developers don't know how their own game works so they don't know how to make AI prioritize doing some things over other things because if they make AI act like youtubers who all cheat and savescum the AI just die.
2. Until 1.3.11 trade didn't make money unless you were a merchant republic.
>>
>>2454714
My issue is goods don't chainlink in any capacity.
Yes, the AI will freely move cloves from Indonesia to India.
But they're sure as hell not going to move those to East Africa, or West Africa, or God forbid, Europe.

It's not too bad, no HRE makes it look worse than it really is.

Needs to be more sub-kingdoms and autonomous regions thoughever. Scotland and Ireland were personal unions for another hundred and two hundred years, respectively. The Ottomans had their large subject princes. Etc, etc. Control definitely needs to be made harder, and there should definitely be some sort of AI logic for keeping large subjects around late into the game
>>2454704
It worked fine on early patches in a manual sort of way, sending cloves to europe was and is a money printer. The problems are that A. the reduced trade range makes that harder to do, and B. trade automation and burgher trades can't into anything more complex than trading goods between single markets based on immediate demands
>>
>>2454714
3. The autobuilder was broken until 1.3.1ish. Just didn't work AT ALL, so the AI never built buildings. This is the other cause of merc spam. You can rewind give yourself 10000 gold in console and test this out for yourself. This is very frustrating when you have an empire making 1000 gold a turn and you don't want to sit clicking a million buttons.
>>2454716
4. And, as you've highlighted, the middle east is also a shithole (worse than irl). In the real world the silk road went through mongolia and the ottoman empire and the inability of the AI to form regional power blocks to take out hordes handicaps trade in a dozen different ways. It also doesn't know how to release vassals and make powerful centers of control, and probably doesn't know how to use governors either.

>>
>>2454740
He's right if you don't play the game only in singleplayer, having a hormuz and middle eastern player drag trade forward fixes literally every problem and all they have to do is build marketplaces which is in their own interest, which the AI would do anyways if they were smart. So the issue isn't that goods "don't" chainlink in "any" capacity as you wrote, the issue is that the AI has a bunch of economic issues totally separate from the trade problem that prevents it from playing the game at all and trade just so happens to suffer.

wtf is this slop? they were cut-throat states, they simply never expanded aggressively but they did conquered other nations when they could, like the papal state with romagna and florence with siena
>>
>>2454747
Burgundy being on there makes me chuckle
>>
>>2454745
>It's just worth more
It's worth more for the AI to do both but it can't build one extra marketplace in any set of circumstances because it's too busy building and fully maintaining forts 'just in case' the player shows up.
>>
>>2454747
Probably due to the want of a propper diplomatic system keeping North Italy from consolidating into a blob 100 years into the game.
>>
Is there a way to make declaring a war WITH a casus beli cost 7 stability?
>>
Also, is there a way to reduce relations between nations? eu5's problem, which eu4 didn't have, is that every nation sits improving relations with every other nation around them and those relation improvements take literally 100 years to decay as opposed to how that worked in eu4. I actually like this system alot more but "land desirability" doesn't reduce opinion like in eu4. What's the easiest way to make nations that are similar (same religion, same culture group bare minimum) hate eachother? Ie brandenburg and pomerania, or austria and bavaria.
>>
>>2454739
See >>2454746 it's an AI/economy problem
>>
>>2454739
Why Portugal specifically?
Do you have a game you'd like to share with us where AI Portugal actually went colonizing and created a colonial empire? Do they have market presence all over the place?

Also a major issue I'd like to highlight is that colonial empires don't have a chance in hell to push trade forwards because if they conquer an area overseas it punishes them by reducing their research speed because of low control among other things. They'll never build buildings or develop an area and more importantly they'll never build marketplaces. Idk about colonial subjects or trade companies I've never seen one in the game before but I imagine they're broke as hell and treated like england treats ireland. Total neglect and perpetual starvation instead of moving those valuable goods forward into europe because technically developing london is ALWAYS better (if england wasn't busy deathwarring in the netherlands instead of course.)
>>
>>2454717
>Scotland and Ireland were personal unions for another hundred and two hundred years, respectively
that's on the devs, england rapes their island in about 30 years with and without mods.
as for control, maybe a system that only gives you control in a province capital would work better. would also mean you build those up with more and new government buildings to get control there. naturally big city capitals give more control than a rural village and only a (expandable) percentage of the total province tax would be earned there. should feel more alive than a local governor in all 4 corners of the empire.
>>
Like imagine you're the mighty british empire and you take a treaty port in india and all it gives you with it's 6 marketplaces is 6 trade capacity. How the hell are you supposed to move goods?
>>
>>2454758
Having a high relation with a country will make declaring war on them cost stab, even with a CB. Not sure if you can make it cost exactly 7. You can insult the country to instantly lower your relationship with them.

>>2454759
Use a diplomat to start building a spy network on the country you want other countries to hate more. The spy network will start ticking up somewhere between 1 and 2 per month. For 5 spy network points you can sabotage relations(?) which lets you pick a country to lose 50 relation with them. It fades over like a decade, and you can't stack it to make the same country lose like 200 points with someone. I've used this on France before to try and make their vassals more disloyal during the HYW, don't know how much impact it actually had.
>>
what even is supposed to be in this colonial rework they've moved to christmas 2027?
i hope to god they're going to fix all colonial nations having stupid native names before then
>>
>>2454775
Sorry, for both questions I meant with mods I'm working on something that makes the AI aggressive again that you guys might like if I can actually finish it.
>>
>Fabricate CB on country I've never been at war with
>Go to declare war
>It is allies with a nation I have been at war with a few years ago
>Because that country (which is not a co-belligerent) has a truce with me, declaring on this other nation that I've never fought before counts as breaking a truce and and gives me a stability an AE hit

What the fuck is this shit? "You have a truce with someone I'm friends with? It's basically like you're breaking a truce with me, then!"
>>
The reason it's going to take 1.5 years to make EU5's AI to use the ambitions system is because that's how long it will take for the Vic 3 team to put out their AI update, then have Johan reverse engineer it into EU5.
>>
>>2454783
I had this happen too and it SAYS that but what it actually meant for me was that I had relations to high with the nation I was declaring war on and it was actually just lying about the truces thing. Or, in one case, the country had become a personal union of the other nation which still counts because it's the same ruler, which does actually make sense.
>>
>>2454783
This is why I don't play in ironman though if I ran into this issue I would just tag over nations, dissolve that alliance, enable yesman, add a new alliance to a nation of the same size, disable yesman, and then tag back.
>>
are they not going to fix ai joining independence movements of your subjects for no reason?

>>
Explain why i should play this slop instead of EU4
>>
>>2454794
The honest answer in 1.0 and 1.1 would have been so that you could help iron out bugs as a longtime eu4 player so that the new eu5 playerbase would have a GOOD game and so that your friends who stayed on eu4 (because eu5 is too expensive) would be able to buy the game in a year after release confident that the product was as one might expect from a billion dollar company. Paradox's development model has been to use ai slop to drive the game backwards in the last 3 or 4 months though so I have no idea why you would play eu5 unless you're already invested much less buy it.
>>
>>2454792
Wait 1.5 years, chud. No one EVER said this game was supposed to be playable or good yet. You knew what you were getting into so this is actually your own fault

>>
>>2454803
I disagree. Eu4 does a really good job of getting the dopamine flowing. It's hollow as shit and becomes pointless a century in the gane but that's not that different from eu5.
>>
>>2454803
angry post irony like this should be bannable
>>
>>2454794
Angry troon and brownoid babble aside, because this game has a (basically) fully fleshed-out pop and goods economy, whereas EU4 is stuck with the shitty mana and dev system. EU5 will always have more depth to its gameplay and more potential for engagement because of that. You don't have sorceror kings in Siberia summoning up a thousand cannons because they spent enough sword mana to get the tech. The basic skeleton of the game is just better, and it always will be

I'm actually a big fan of the character slop itself but the 3d models were never necessary and reduce performance so much it's unreal. They should have used quick and dirty handdrawn 2d sprites to be honest. You want them to not blob so italy doesn't consolidate in 1300's and papacy in particular stays alive and relevant by hopefully allying with other italians which gridlocks italy. Florence is there for the same reason, so it would stay small and help gridlock italy so the italian situations actually work.

You really don't if you are at a stage where road costs 10 years of income. You will get much more juice out by spending your gold on stability and messing with the estates or laws or building up your capital depending on what your particular scenario is.

Are you serious, Mr. Johan Andersson? Showing up to a community interview wearing dark sunglasses? That doesn't come across as "cool style" — it comes across as having no interest in properly engaging with the players. When the project is already plagued by bugs, performance issues, and all sorts of other crap, that kind of image feels especially strange and, frankly, pretty disrespectful. And the new expansion inspires more disappointment than excitement. Instead of finally addressing performance problems and fixing long-standing issues, we're being sold yet another piece of questionable, low-quality content. Maybe the base game should have been brought up to an acceptable standard before pushing yet another paid DLC? At this point, the whole thing leaves a truly awful impression...

Vicky has the low key but major advantage of being a fairly short game with limited granularity (at least in terms of econmic gameplay), so setting up your economy is the core of the game but that takes like 30 minutes. The rest of the game is researching the right techs and building grossGermaniums until you reach 1900 and you've won the game. Then you quit, which is just in time because the economic simulation shits the bed past 1910 anyway.

Why do you Nahuatl Ulm WCers always assume just because someone like plausible history they don't like any alt-history?
Can you seriously not see a difference between a Byzantium player averting the civil war by either placating or disposing of John Kantakouzenos as a point of divergence and forming Kurdistani Ryuku to spam epic meme buffs?

>>2455330
How are they supposed to play it?
>>

>>
>>2455341
The same way you measure beauty of a flower.
I've not come up with a strict scientific formulation for it.
For example, Germany taking Namibia is based, because it happened in history. Germany taking Pennsylvania also COULD be based, because it was a destination for a lot of German settlers and could logically happen.
Ulm converting to Nahuatl religion and conquering the world is NOT based because it could NOT have happened, and anyone playing that way is just trying to take advantage of the mechanics to "win" the game, completely disregarding the whole historical premise of the game and the systems set up to simulate reality.

It's the playing chess with a pigeon paradigm. Ulm WCers are shitting on the board and strutting around like they won.

i just don't understand ulm wcers
these games are HISTORY games they're set in HISTORY, they have countries from HISTORY, the events are based around HISTORY, what the nations did in HISTORY, all the techs are from HISTORY, all the situations are HISTORY, these are 100% history games
and yet they go to steam
they see the tags saying history
they see the historical map
and they buy it
not to simulate history
not because they care about history
but because they want to spend their mana, paint a map, and do it as weird and wacky religions and cultures for epic bonuses, like it was a fighting game or some shit

why of all the games in the world would you choose a HISTORY game if you don't give a shit about history? there must be tens of thousands of games with magic spells or potions or whatever bullshit where you can get all the high scores and cheevos you like
so why play a HISTORY game if you don't like HISTORY?

this alone would be bad enough, but they then sign in to 4channel.com and tell ME that I am the one who is wrong because I WANT HISTORY, apparently I am a retard because I bought a HISTORY game because i like HISTORY

no game which doesn't portray the problem of imperfect information is ever going to be a simulator.
>>
>>2455365
You don't have fun though.
For me every single game is a new experience, Japan, Britain, Ottomans, Russia, they all play differently because I am roleplaying as the nation and they all have vastly different starting conditions.
For you every single nation is just
>funny meme tag
>funny meme culture
>funny meme religion
>blob over the entire world
You will never be able to have different experiences, you can not play the game in any other way. The second you've got your cheevos you bounce, you're not even playing it for enjoyment, you just want the achievement icon to light up and then your brain shuts off again, because you're an NPC incapable of independent thought.
>>
>>2455369
>You don't have fun though
I wouldn't play if i wasn't having fun.
Keep seething tho.
>>
You're trying too hard.
>>
>>2455372
You don't have fun actually playing the game is my point.
I grant you, you get a surge of dopamine once you've completed your meme game and can post in on /r/eu5, or here when you escape containment, but you don't actually have fun while playing the game.
I do, because every time I do anything in the game I am immersed in my decisions, rolelplaying geopolitically, as these games are SUPPOSED to be played, and that brings me happiness, because I am capable of putting myself in the mind of a statesman of the time.
You lack that capacity. You can only see meme modifiers, cheevos, or other people telling you what to do.
If I asked YOU now to come up with an interesting idea for a playthrough, what would you say? You'd roll a random religion, a random culture, and a random tag, and set about on your WC. Alternatively you'd look at the achievements, see a stupid pun achievement and set about wasting several days of your life getting all the medicament goods in the world as Ganja, or some other equally tedious and tenuous asspull.
I on the other hand would say what if Milan managed to use the wealth of it's silk industry to springboard into a regional power and challenge both the Pope and the HRE, and I would genuinely enjoy every second of that game.

You are incapable of thought.
You are incapable of logic.
You are incapable of enjoyment.
You are a NPC person, there is nothing behind your eyes, your brain runs on pure base instincts of what you are told to do.
>>
I think this might be a bot

I play lithuania just for this. Pagan god spells are the coolest part of the game. I love managing my court wizards knowing the AI doesn't have/can't use them. It's like playing an immortal wizard king that has seized control of the throne through epsteinesque blackmail rings. eu5 is the best game ever if they could just fix a few more weird bugs I would be happy.

And it's just the same spellbook from EU4 where you can ask the Pope to cast spells in exchange for your influence (mana)
>>
>>2455527
Agreed, influence should instead be based on concrete numbers based on how many archbishoprics you have, how influential they are in the catholic church, and the strings and favors you can pull as a king. I would go as far as saying it should all be automated and the locations that have many catholic themed estate buildings should be the only places that get the bonuses, even. Use the character system for governors as we should be, and put those governors in charge of especially heretical areas and the catholic church should reward you more with direct bonuses to taxation by pulling that money out of the churches coffers.

No more mana. no more spells. No more influence.

Only ruler matters and maybe the general for the first couple of pitched battles and maybe having a good dip council to move to communalism at game start. Even ruler matters lot less now that they removed infinite proximity works. It's still worth it to change inheritance to favored son or other such "ability" based inheritance but functionally it doesn't make a difference if your guy is a 40/50/60 or 60/60/90 or something. If anything the ability based inheritances best feature isn't even the fact that you get on average better rulers but you get younger rulers thus longer lived and fewer rulers overall. This isn't like EU5 where ruler mana was actually crucial.
Personally the character system sucks balls and clearly doesn't justify itself being in the game, the ruler and heir could just as well be EU4 style randomly generated on the spot types instead of having these complex family trees of existent characters that all do nothing but make thousands of function calls every month.

>>2455597
>Don't forget you can assassinate heirs for FREE
Messing with AI's isn't even worth the diplomats it would cost to do, this is a good feature for larpers and MP though. I guess you can abuse that to set up a PU though but PU's outside of the first with a micro state are pretty worthless.
>>
>>2455627
>but PU's outside of the first with a micro state are pretty worthless.
? PUing a huge country next door at zero diplomatic cost and not having to ever worry about aggressive expansion in that direction for the next hundred years is fantastic. Plus you get an ally that interferes in your civil wars and ALWAYS in your favor, in a way that means you never have to raise your own levies. And then you can annex them after demanding they raise their cultures opinion of your culture AFTER they start converting a huge area of cultures to their culture.
>>
>>2455604
the reward is pretty good yeah but seeing how you basically didnt expand since game start and your economy is shit you wont get it anyway

So I'm assuming a side effect of them spending all next year pretty much rebuilding the game is there's not going to be any major DLC until 2028 because anything they do make is going to have to work around ambitions and whatever other major reworks they're sneaking in with that.

I read on the workshop about a mod that gives 50% conquest reduced casus bellis allowing players to basically conquer all of egypt in one war. What exactly would be the maximum 'reasonable' reduction in conquest cost for a top tier CB? pretend I'm johan
>>
>>2456035
Same as real life, infinite.
Ottomans conquered the entire Mamluk empire, from Antioch to Alexandria, in one war.
Actually being able to hold it without chimpouts should be the bigger issue.
>>
>>2456036
So I think, ideally, I would want to make a casus belli for uniting religious powerblocks that only lets you justify on nations of the same religion as you, which is unlocked with an institution that spawns around 1500 that comes through asia and/or turkey before it comes through europe. Ideally I should be able to make it so that it hits west europe in 1600 so that the league war and treaty of westphalia cleanly dividing germany into solid states can happen more organically. Obviously people will want to abuse this and declare co-belligerents so I just won't give it an aggressive expansion reduction at all, so that if you're moving into the empire it will cause all of kinds of problems but uniting a religious group will be cake easy because of the way reduced aggressive expansion works outside of the same religious group. Then I want to take deus vult out of being locked behind admin tech for some reason and put it as a tech that catholics ALREADY start with unlocked.
>>
>>2456059
Basically because the AI needs access to permanent CBs to function at all and because I want to give the player the option to have fun and cause problems. idk. It's weird that paradox refuses to give a permanent casus belli to muslims unless they go admin given how many invasions there were against europe just because they were christian and different for hundreds of years earlier. Why the fuck do they need to research a renaissance tech or get approval from 'parliament'? idgi. Trying to figure out some way to balance this while making the AI very aggressive where the world won't just sit in a permanent state of warfare with just what I have.

Conceptually the best CB's really shouldn't have a limit (and they don't in game right now), Mamluks were conquered in one war, Timurids, Mughals, various Chinese states etc. all grabbed incredible amounts of land in certain wars which should be possible with either event or special CB's. It's more a question of balance and how accessible those CB's are and if player can use them for something other than their intended purpose. It's also a video game and blobbing should be difficult at the start and get easier with time.

You get completely irrelevant sums of money (like two ducats if you are lucky) when you occupy enemy locations with nobility buildings.
You get even less money as loot when marching through enemy locations.
The most relevant loot are works of art that you get mostly when occupying capitals.
I don't know if loot is increased when storming a location with a fort (is not smart to storm a fort throughout most of the game).
tldr: There is no loot mechanic in this game.

Yes but you do lose their income and the other vassal could annex them or give then scutage so they don't join wars and stuff like that so it's not always good idea.
>>
does location of regular recruitment matter?
i somehow lost 100k pops from constantinople, my only guess it's from regular losses destroying pops there because i clicked recruitment there the most
>>
>>2456409
it does yeah but usually with these posts its because you built 1000 trade posts
>>
>>2456410
wtf
i did build gorillion trade offices
i thought they employ local people in target location
>>
>>2456409
Only for stuff like how expensive the troop is to recruit and where it spawns. The soldier pop losses are randomly distributed. If you are colonizing or building overseas it's probably that or if you overbuilt there may be migration push and people just fucking off to other parts of your empire.

How does looting work in eu5?
>>
>>2456416
someone already told you and you've spent hours sperging out over it, you autistic faggot
>>
>>2456418
no, someone vaguely gestured towards it being "kind of like eu4" and then refused to elaborate

Why do you care this bad about a game you don't even play?

they move pops from your capital to be employed there
>>
>>2456410
>>2456435
Lol
Am I retarded for not figuring this out earlier or is the mechanic retarded?
>>
>>2456442
It would be a little cheesy if you could just drain the pops of others to earn money for you and actively worsen their own trade advantage/capacity
>>
>>2456442
The mechanic is retarded yes. You teleport thousands of people all across the globe, from your capital specifically, because the pop system can't handle not merging pops of the same culture
>>
>>2456453
>teleport
You don't think it's reasonable for your guys to move there during the construction of the building?
>>
>>2456461
It's not that it's unreasonable, it's that there are three other migration mechanics that all require various degrees of fighting the game's arbitrary restrictions, but when it comes time to build a mcdonalds in the congo your pops just move there instantly no problem, because johan couldn't figure out how to make extraterritorial buildings not break the game with pop merging
>>
>>2456463
This is really weaksauce complaint desu

>France just declared on a HRE minor and absolutely clapped the emperor and his cronies
I feel like I'm in danger, better bust out the armories and heavy cavalry if I want to survive this one I'm sure I'm next.
>>
What the fuck did they do to the plague? I've tried it in 3 different games and it just doesn't go to asia anymore, and it kills maybe 20M people tops in europe. Hadn't played since 1.1
>>
>>2456483
base 20-40% resistance to black plague or something ridiculous in asia and africa for no reason so that asian players would stop whining
>>
>>2456193
I'm also trying to figure out how hard it would be to track how many years a country has been at war to add a warscore cost reduction the longer a war goes on, which WOULD enable chaining together wars, but that's kind of the point if you're on a massive conquest spree and you can't be stopped.
>>
>>2456522
That's not really how it worked or even should work.
>>
>>2456525
>ermmmmmmmm wars in the empire that only went on for 3-6 months statistically annexed vast swaths of land
>ermmmmmmmm wars that went on for years or decades didn't cause massive changes in the map (100 years war, 30 years war, ww2, ww1, etc)
Proofs?
>>
>>2456532
Long wars perhaps statistically move more borders but that's just a result of you know there being more war in the war not some magical ability to conquer more simply because you have been in the war longer. Horse nomads in particular absolutely cock slapped large empires in just couple of months that would never be possible in game simply because they finish the war fast and being in war longer would not have somehow benefited them and in fact would have likely materialized more opposition to their conquests. Ottoman conquest of the Mamluks is another example from above, it only really lasted few months which is barely enough time to mount a good siege (in real life as well)
>>
>>2456428
They built the war system around hourly ticks at first, realized battles passed by too quickly but kept the hourly ticks in.
>>
>>2456402
Why does everyone in this game either look like neantherthals or potatoes.
>>
>>2456539
my ruler being half-georgian half-lithuanian doesn't make him a neanderthal
>>
>>2456534
True but I don't have the ability to rework the entire game from the ground up (ie I can't just redo how rebellions work entirely and the difficulties of governing an empire full of tens of millions people when no 100,000 speak the same language to make a comprehension taxation bill COMPLETELY IMPOSSIBLE because these niggas don't even have base 10 number systems) so I'm trying to look at how I can make the game as it exists playable by altering how CBs work for the player and the AI in a mod.
>>
>>2456546
Which I know and I responded to with "That's not really how it worked or even should work." I pointed out the historical inaccuracy and ridiculousness of the statement with the first part and the gameplay aspect with the second. The idea is bad and you should feel bad if your reading comprehension isn't up to snuff is what I'm trying to say.
>>
>>2456534
>simply because they finish the war fast
Even if paradox wanted to keep the systems they have it would be as easy as giving the AI drastically more peace acceptance if your casualties are 100:1 and their armies are all fucking gone especially if that all happened in the first month of war.
>>
>>2456549
nigger your point was that peacedeals moved more lines on the map because there was, quote, "there being more war in the war". don't act like you're anything more than a retarded pseudo intellectual redditard.
>>
>>2456550
But see that's not actually how it shaped up. The examples I gave are specific and only worked that way historically because of circumstances. Had Ottomans lost the first 2 engagement against Mamluks they would not have just folded like a leaf and wouldn't just surrender Constantinople to the mighty mamluk camels (MMC). There's no reason for a well fortified and resourced enemy to surrender just because they get wiped out in a battle.

>>2456552
Which they do right now, siege stuff, you get warscore, you get to ask more in a peace deal. That's already in the game.
>>
>>2456555
>siege stuff, you get warscore, you get to ask more in a peace deal.
Or you can fight one battle and if you're a really big nation with a big army you can demand half their country. Whereas if you're a smaller nation with a smaller army and you wipe out 4 to 5 larger nations armies they just won't accept annexation for, uh, reasons, until you full siege down every single capital of their alliance.
>>
>>2456557
I don't see a problem with that. Germany would not surrender to Belgium just because they lost two dozen battles, not until they are actually at the gates of Berlin. Belgium would surrender to Germany just because they breathe in their direction. Again you are not making sense. See
>>2456525

As a reminder: warscore system is already in the game. And it explicitly does this already, it gives you the ability to demand more when you perform war like actions such as sieges or winning battles.
>>
>>2456555
>ermmm they wouldn't just surrender if their armies had instantly been completely wiped out in the first month of war despite the fact that the egyptions were muslims who wouldn't persecute their people or behead their rulers if there was a quick surrender
Proof?

How does it feel to be categorically wrong about every single thing you say
>>

Wow Belgium had millions of men on several fronts! I thought it was the French and the British and the Russians and Italians but it was all actually Belgian!
>>
>>2456579
Why would they need millions of men on several fronts if germany had zero? idgi.
