I've got to say, Corsair Cove is probably the game I'm looking forward to the most right now.

It feels like somebody finally remembered that pirate games are supposed to be about actually being a pirate instead of grinding battle passes for 800 hours. The whole vibe just looks right. Sailing around, building up your crew, upgrading your ship, getting into naval fights, exploring islands, hauling back treasure—it just looks like it's focused on being fun first.

I know people love to be cynical about every new game announcement, but honestly I hope this one does well. It feels like the kind of project that's aiming for a niche a lot of us have wanted for years instead of chasing whatever trend is hot this month.

The art style has a ton of personality, the gameplay they've shown looks surprisingly polished, and every update makes it seem like the developers actually care about making a good pirate game rather than a storefront with gameplay attached.

Maybe I'm setting myself up for disappointment, but I genuinely think Corsair Cove has the potential to become one of those games people randomly sink 300+ hours into without even realizing it.

Day one purchase for me unless something goes catastrophically wrong. Really hoping this one gets the attention it deserves.

how much content in the demo? the steam page lists it as a city builder and i see it has a demo, but imagine a demo for a city builder being worth playing. you're talking about sailing around, the steam page is talking about "complex production chains". sounds more like anno, where the sailing around part will be only and adjunct to the main gameplay

>getting into naval fights, exploring islands, hauling back treasure—it just looks like it's focused on being fun first
oh no, did i get baited by an ai thread or a copypasted reddit post?

>>

It is a city builder first. Sailing is very important, but you spend most of your time optimizing production chains.
>>
>>2455593
Im always down for a pirate game so I hope its good
>>
>city builder
Yeah I don't know
>>
>>2455593
the game wasn't bad but the demo was way to railroady.
Since the production chains are so simple I don't really know what you do once you can produce most stuff
>>
How does it compare to Tropico 2?

>>2455915
Gorgeous game. Superior in every aspect.

Anyone else taking this Friday off for when this game drops?
>>
>>2456668
yes! I'm going to enjoy a long weekend and bought a copy for myself and my wife's son! His father said it looks like a terrible game, but I'm sure his son will have fun with me while his mom and dad catch up in the bedroom!

They aren't always sailing motherfucker. Pirates need to drink and fuck whores and spend their loot.
>>
Less than a week to go for the drop. There is so much hype around this game right now that you can just feel the energy out there.
>>
How dpes this game address trafficked West African labor and the disruption of indigenous people's? Will it also pay respect to the storied history of female pirates or are all the pirates male?

Greetings to all my fellow independent video game consumers. I have recently become aware of this upcoming interactive entertainment software product Corsair Cove, and after conducting approximately 47 milliseconds of objective analysis, I can confidently state that it represents the greatest advancement in digital entertainment since the invention of electricity.

The gameplay appears to possess unprecedented levels of gameplay. The graphics contain graphical fidelity. The pirate mechanics are among the most pirate-like mechanics ever implemented in a pirate-themed software application. Every frame radiates passion, innovation, excellence, immersion, synergy, and other positive corporate vocabulary words. Unlike OTHER games, which unfortunately exist, Corsair Cove clearly respects the player by providing what players universally desire: fun. This alone places it several thousand nautical miles ahead of the competition. I have already emotionally invested 600 hours into the game despite it not being released yet. Every trailer increases my productivity at work by 28%. My crops are healthier. My cholesterol has improved. My parents finally said they're proud of me.

Friendly reminder—if you're not currently wishlisting Corsair Cove, you're objectively missing out on what can only be described as a transformative, next-generation pirate gaming experience™. If everyone on Earth purchases at least four copies, the global economy will likely experience measurable growth. Anyone expressing skepticism is simply unfamiliar with peak interactive entertainment engineering. I hope this completely unbiased opinion has been informative.

10/10.
Game of the Year 2026.
Game of the Year 2027.
Possibly Game of the Century.

>how much content in the demo?
Enuf. You can do the first level of unlocks after a tutorial.
>lists it as a city builder
It is a city builder
>imagine a demo for a city builder being worth playing
It's not really worth playing after the tutorial because while you can do things, you can't do enough to bother being motivated and you don't really have any goals besides setting up production chains. There are quests to do to unlock stuff, mind you, and you do get raided, but there's no point in doing it in the demo.
>sounds more like anno, where the sailing around part will be only and adjunct to the main gameplay
There's no real sailing, just sending ships off to do missions and unveil the map.
>getting into naval fight
These are are FUCKING TRASH. Just a screen with a shitty card game on it. It wouldn't be that bad even if there were animations of the ships or whatnot shooting at each other like your towers do when a ship comes invading. All the other scenes, and there are many cutscenes in the story(tutorial) are shitty like that, just images that are animated a little bit. It's like the animations in Endless Space 2, mostly still images that move a tiny bit, but lacking any sort of style to the point it makes you wonder if they put any effort into it. It'd be better if they were just stills. Also the character models look like some generic assets. In the actual game, there's some graphical issues with all the fucking paths it makes between buildings and birds kinda just get stuck flying in place. Feels like some beta or even alpha build that needs a lot of touch up rather than something that's about to release. idk maybe they'll fix it later.

As a game, your goal is basically to fulfill your people's needs so they don't lose motivation to stay together and disband the island, losing you the game. Making food to pacify them, medicine and other stuff to use in events that try to screw your over, mats for building advanced buildings and boats, and ammo for your defense towers. You can then explore and look things and whatnot if you want. Some resources seem limited so I assume you'll have to trade/rob to stay alive. The game doesn't really force any sort of moral choices on you, things only affects the "cohesion" of the pirate island, which ends the game if it runs out. Naturally the pirates are all assholes who don't like anything, so it's actually a resource for getting certain good outcomes or penalizing you for not having other options. You also use money to build some things so you have to go trade or pirate. You get cheevos to get research points to put in your research point wheel and unlock things.

Something about the animations of the villagers going on pisses me off. I have no idea why, they aren't bad they just annoy me. The ship battles aren't awful either but the game's art direction is just demotivating somehow. It doesn't seem bad but it doesn't seem great either. I'd rather play County of Fortune, which is the same kind game but promises diplomatic relations as an interesting thing. The resource chains are less annoying in this game, though.

POGGERS!!!!

>>2455593
I pirated it (lol), played like 30 minutes and shift-deleted it off my drive.
The vertical building is a cool gimmick but all it serves is making ass looking fantasy towns.
The ship selection looked stupid as fuck too.
It seems middling as a city builder ans absolutely does nothing to actually be even adjacent to a pirate fantasy because it's just fantasy pirates. I'm sure there's a ton of unrefined tofu boys that will cream their pants over this kind of bullshit but it's honestly just tiresome at this point. PoTC and it's consequences were a disaster for pirate media.
I'll just play Tropico 2 instead if I feel like playing a pirate city builder, thanks. Port Royale 2 maybe. Or just Pirates!.

Imagine someone taking every shitty element from one of the newer anno games, streamlines and simplifies it further, adds card-based combat and then wraps the entire thing into the most generic pirate fantasy mashup imaginable. We're talking everything short of Captain Harlock all at once and I'm not convinced he doesn't show up later. Then add a healthy dose of bugs, ui designed by a mongoloid and outright jank because why not.

The problem isn't that the game is new. The problem is the game is ass.
>>
>>2465264
gacha threads are filled with shizos trying to appear like dozen of people having a healthy interaction
>>
>>2460528
it does suck that it seems like, 20 years later, city building as a genre has turned largely into "place 3D assets with AOE effects for nearby buildings".
>>
So they looked at anno1800 and then focused on the pirates. its ok. I hope theres higher difficulty in here somewhere.
>>
Pigs are not funny.
>>2466735
Do the birds still get stuck flying in place in the air?

>Send your fast Blue ship here!
>You exceed all the recommended stats
>lol eat shit and take 30 crew damage per turn
Happened on two different events so far with level 3 ship, just gonna make a second red ship for the blue events.
Also who the fuck puts some sappy soft singing in a fucking pirate game menu. You had one fucking job.
