Reminds me of how Russia was replaced with China as the geopolitical threat in Fallout's backstory. One of the Fallout developers was in a phone call with someone in Russia and he could hear gunshots, to which the other person replied "oh it's just local Mafia" so he realised Russia's a weakened shithole.And clearly it is, it can't even occupy Ukraine.
