Is playing that nowadays even worth it? It's fun but even the noob lobbies have people with 300 wins.
i only play this for the campaigns and for some relaxed pve, simple as that
>>2465074What do you mean by "worth it"? You will never be korean or win the ASL championship. What exactly is your goal when playing video games, some arbitrary rank within some arbitrary ladder system? You made me think why I play Brood War and I'm going to launch the game now vs AI and try to win using firebats and turrets only, just for the heck of it. I thought about trying to beat the terran campaigns with these conditions but I can't even imagine the hell that would be the UED last mission
>>2465271>What do you mean by "worth it"?he means that he is a tard who can speak only in catch phrases
>>2465074You'll improve eventually, winning against sweatlords feels better than winning against noobs. Sink or swim is a good learning method. Just don't expect to have 100% winratio right away.
if you want, you can install SC2 for free and then download SC mass recall mod, which is recreation of SC1 campaign with SC2 engine
>>2465551not the OP, but i have to wear an astronaut helmet whenever i look at SC2 footage to protect myself from the eye cancer that the game's shitty graphics try to give me
>>2465074>>2465540"competitive" gamers:>drawn towards competitive modes over cooperative onessociopathic>choose to compete in videogames instead of anything with actual stakescowardly>convinced that videogame performance/ranking has valuedelusional>expresses superiority and condescension towards lower ranked or non-competitive players>gets angry or makes excuses when they lose or feel invalidatedarrogant & insecureplaying videogames as your chosen hobby is already bad enough. but playing them "competitively" automatically qualifies you as subhuman trash unfit for society
>>2465551SC1 mogs SC2 so hard I never played Mass Recall beyond the first missions, however WarCraft 3 campaigns re-made in SC2's engine are a very interesting experience
>>2465684but it's fun.
>>2465627>>2465900I referred to mass recall as option to play SC1 for cheap if you don't want to use torrents, as you can set up option to play as close as Sc1.>>2465900yeah, i Like Azeroth reforged or how its called too. I'm in my early/mid thirties, so I like bit casual micro of F2+A (select all and move attack) after work, instead of juggling between several groups of 12 units.
>>2466007>play SC1 for cheap if you don't want to use torrentsBrood War (non-Remastered) is free to play since the Remastered version release
Are Zerg a bad race? I feel like Protoss and Terrans are way stronger as a beginner.
>>2467438zerg and protoss are arguably equalterran ca be a bit more challenging to play simply because of how autistic and frustrating the scv can be inbetween build orders, he sometimes gets stuck in nooks and crannies if you happen to try and fit buildings into a 'corner' because of space limitations, and it doesn't help that half of the buildings cannot be levitatedbasically, the scv is the most annoying terran unit in the game to usezerg is strong simply because hatcheries are so dynamic, you can build any unit with a hatchery, so a long-game zerg strategy is just build hatcheries and spam-build unitsthere is also no population limit to overlords, which gives a zerg player an edge against cloaked shitand then of course, there's the zerg rush strategy which, if you master, mog the best terran and protoss players
>>2465074I play through the campaign in 1.16.1 every now and then, it's always a good time. If RTS games didn't stop putting effort into campaigns, I'd probably still be playing them.
>>2467438Zerg is the most OP raceyou're simply playing them wrongyou're meant to place many hatcheries all around, not just near minerals and gas. They are your main building but double as barracks and gateways and everything elsethen you're meant to spawn constant waves of troops from all these free larvae or alternate between troop production and drone production for an instant giant economic boostif you group your mutalisks with another slow unit like an overlord in one selection, your mutalisks will clump together in one spot. You can use this deathclump to snipe turrets, workers, tanks, anything really, any valuable targets. Mostly for free because mutalisks are so fast and easy to clump this way and fire immediately from up to 11 retarded mouths simultaneously, stacking that damage real fucking fastthen you've got the defiler which invalidates 98% of terran's unit roster with its consume+dark swarm combo, not to mention plague that deletes terran infantry in particular in secondsthere is also meta strategy of playing zerg, expanding fast to 3-4 bases, turtling up behind sunkens and some spore colonies for detection, then just spawning waves of ultralisks and sending them to the enemy bases, and when they die you send another wave because you already have them readyzerg has won the past what, 5 korean top tier tournaments? 6?
>>2467438My problem with learning how to play Zerg is that ZvZ is is a chaotic mess, even more so than PvP.In non mirror matches, it's easier because your production capacity builds up in the background even if you are ignoring it and then you use it all at once. With Protoss and Terran, if you que up units, you are effectively floating resources and if you forget to que up units, you are just floating resources. With Zerg, you can forget for a while and not get punished for it.
>>2467699zvz on ladder is easiest desu. just over pool into 2h and spam speed lings. don't even bother with mutas and you can easily get a rank.
>>2465074Brood War causes great damage to the human spirit without a single benefit.>>2467438Protoss is the best beginner race by a very wide margin. Zerg and Terran actually force you to learn the game.
>>2465074The good thing about rts games is that even when losing you have a good time, unless you die fast to some dumb cheesesadly a lot of singleplayer strategy games are only when you're ahead without major setbacks.
