This game looks really, really good and i found it for 17€. Anyone here played it?
>>2465137It's really cool, but not much of a game. I've been building custom scenarios to see how my country's air force would do in different circumstances.
It has no unit AI
True, the enemy behavior is set up by the mission designer. They've just released a multiplayer beta version though, that could be fun.
>>2465137Hmm I do remember playing a similar game (not sure if it was Harpoon or a clone, there are actually many of these games out there), but then I dropped it because friendly AI was shitty and enemy AI would cheat often (Wargame Red Dragon ahem).Just go play Highfleet, anon. It's a weird but fun game, you won't regret it.
>>2472269Added to wishlist, thanks for the rec
>>2466852It does have AI (tactical one, for units), it doesn’t have operational AI unless you set it up yourself.
Also, for OP, it’s hard, very hard. You simply need to know a lot about how modern air/naval warfare works in order to enjoy it. You need to know the characteristics of units as well as what various subtypes do or else you’ll be reading a lot instead of playing. You must learn how to use operations planner which is part of the game, cause in a scenario with hundreds of units, you’ll fail with micromanagement. Units are accurate depictions of their real-life counterparts (at least as far as data is available). Depending on your pre-conceived notions derived from pop-culture or propaganda, that might make you frustrated. It’s a very slow and tedious experience. Community scenario pack is good and you should download it ASAP.
>>2465692We'd die instantly against anyone but Germany is how we would do
Another thing - there’s points in scenarios (purely up to scenario designer how they work), but there’s no fairness or actual goals. Some scenarios have you as a dominant side and you need to avoid any losses. In others, you are inferior, and you’ll lose whatever you do, so your goal might be to just inflict some damage. Some are designed to be fun and engaging. Some are purely a case study. If you know what you’re doing, you’ll face little challenge.
>>2472620>it’s hardThat's exactly why i am enjoying it so far.>you’ll be reading a lot instead of playingI also find this quite fun, i love learning new stuffHonestly, spreadsheet simulators like this are my guilty pleasure, i love micromanaging units and learning new mechanics, the more the merrier>>2472624I'm playing to have fun and learn, not to win at first try. Who doesn't like winning, right? But the point of the game is to learn stuff, which i'm a sucker for.
