I'll like to find out how many JP strategy games are there, so I'll dump covers in this thread.I'll start with the oldest and most recognizable franchise from Koei.
>>2466972This series, alongside with Nobunaga's Ambition, is the oldest and the only strategy game franchise that's still alive today. It's gameplay varies from each game but it's usually divided into two different systems, a ruler-based strategy game where you play as a warlord and conquer all of China or a character-based system where you play as a character and be able to either work as a lowly officer under a ruler or become a ruler yourself.
>>2466972Right now I'm just waffling between an Oda and a Takeda start, I lost my Ryuzoji(?) run earlier so I'm bummed about starting out in Kyushu or such atm.
>>2466972Is that considered the best Nobunaga's Ambition game?
>>2467241either this or Awakening depending on if you prefer miromanaging everything or roleplaying as a ruler/being more hands off.
>>2466972>>2466976>JapaneseNigga all that art looks like preanime korean gacha
>>2467241Yes, along with Awakening.Main difference between the two is the strategical approach. Sphere of Influence has a more developed system of construction and specialization for castles and provinces.Awakening plays more like a feudal personnel management game, where you lent most of the control to the AI (it's competent); easier to play if you haven't played Nobunaga before.Nevertheless, KOEI likes to reinvent the wheel after every game and modern titles can lack features from previous ones, for example, Awakening doesn't has coalitions (SOI does).
BOOBA
>>2466972Gihren's Greed if you like GundamAn anon from /m/ finally translated it some time ago
>>2469998Not him but there's like 5 of them and various versions like I think some handheld for 5 has more stuff but lacks voice acting over its older PS2 release.
>>2470031Specifically, the translated one is Menace of Axis V, the fifth game of the serieshttps://pastebin.com/u/GihrensTranslator
>>2466972lol nobunga
>>2466972Sengoku RanceA-Train series is still alive you'd think with all the niggas-on-a-grid tactics that came out of japan they'd put out some more strategy>>2467481kys
>>2466972Really liking Inindo, but it's more of a roleplaying game.>>2467241Prefer Rise to Power, Iron Triangle and Tendou, myself.
>>2467229Oh are you the anon from the /v/ musou thread? Did you start the campaign with the Mogami or Satake as I told you?
>>2476334I am that guy lmao, and I did try both of those.Mogami of 1572 ended really fast from being invaded from the north and the 1567 Satake run went mostly well but Honnoji never happened so I'm dealing with a Super Oda that I'm...kinda at a stalemate against.
>>2477358Mmm well if you lose with the Satake you can try the Nanbu, sure the north is shit but at least you can grab good officers and if you defeat the Hojo and take control of Kanto you'll steam roll the rest of the map, or you can try the Chosokabe, the fucking Miyoshi are a pain in the ass
Fire EmblemWe got a thread here >>2276712

>>2476373Age of Ethanol, right? They are making a sequel for this, Touhou Empires.>>2478524A list of games made on the engine of the original game, Vahren Touga:https://w.atwiki.jp/vahren_ency/pages/846.html
>>2478531>Age of Ethanol, right? They are making a sequel for this, Touhou Empires. There's a bunch more released games from the same dev too.
>>2466972Daisenryaku, the jap version of Panzer General. Advance Wars is a more casual version of that same type of gameplay. Then there's R-Type tactics which got a full remaster duology recently. That's a bit more unique in that it replicates the sidescrolling nature of the original games where you can't make units face backwards so you have to use weaker attacks if you get flanked.
Chaos Galaxy games (front came out a few days ago by the way). Dev is technically Chinese but they're made specifically in the style of those old koei games.
>>2470108Oh shit it's finished? How the fuck did I miss that? I need to visit /m/ more.
For me, it's 1997's Final Fantasy Tactics
>>2466972all Kessen games are good but I love 3 the most. literally the only one of it's kind
>>2485583I'd buy 3 copies if they remake the first one. The game was extremely cinematic for its time and has a very good OST.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CiVU6qHDupEI also really like how you can lose every single battle and still get an ending, but while the gameplay was fine enough but really showed its age now.
>>2466972There's more japanese strategy games than stars in the known universe, they just don't get translated to English. Also like 50% of them are also hentai games, as a result of strange crossbreeding (both strategy and H-games being mostly confined to PC). Check out 7th RAIZIN, it's peak.
Guys... Huang Gai just fucking died just when we became friends
